AMAZON REVIEWER GIVES DOMINO LADY ANTHOLOGY 5 STARS!!!

Cover Art: Uwe Jarling
Cover Art: Jeffrey ButlerMany thanks to Raven for his 5 star Amazon review of the Domino Lady: Sex As A Weapon anthology. You can read it here. As always, reviews are always much appreciated.

The Domino Lady: Sex As A Weapon collection is a great primer for the upcoming Domino Lady "Money Shot" novel (a pulpy political crime thriller) by Bobby Nash (yours truly), premiering in September.

Please, if you've read and enjoyed anything I, or another author has written, please leave a review. We greatly appreciate it.

Thanks again, Raven.

CELEBRATING 32 YEARS OF "KHANNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!"

Today we celebrate 32 years of screaming, "KHANNNNNNNNNNN!!!"

That's right. Happy Anniversary, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. This is one of my all time favorite movies. If I ever run across it on TV, no matter how many times I've seen it before, I will sit down and watch. It's just that good. Last year, I was able to see it on the big screen for the first time thanks to the Retro Cinema showing at Movie Tavern. I believe they're showing it again this year. I might just have to see it again.

Not only is Wrath of Khan a fun action/adventure movie, it also blends in social allegory, which the original Star Trek TV series did oh so very well. In this case, it's the crew dealing with aging. At the time they were considered a bit too old to be action heroes. After Wrath of Khan, older action heroes were back in fashion. As I begin the countdown to my 43rd birthday (stops, does math, curses-- how the hell am I turning 43?) I see things in this movie a little differently than when I was a kid. Another sign of a good movie. It has layers.

The real trick today is going to be avoiding the temptation to watch the movie and focus on writing. I guess that means I'll spend the day quoting the movie instead.

My favorite line? There are so many good ones in this movie, but this one is one I really like.
"You've managed to kill just about everyone else, but like a poor marksman, you keep missing the target."

My favorite exchange, however, is this one.
Keep Boldly Going!

Bobby

LET’S GO BLOG HOPPING-- COME ON!!!

"I'm not napping. I'm plotting."I have been tagged to join an author’s blog hop. What’s that, you might ask? Well, a blog hop is when a group gets together to post blogs to their own site, usually answering the same questions or blogging on the same topic, but also sharing links to the blogs of others.

This week I’m joining a small group of authors who are blog hopping with the following four questions. I hope you’ll check out their sites as well.

Lee Houston, Jr. posted his yesterday. You can read it here. Tomorrow, Ralph L. Angelo, Jr. will post his here and Sean Taylor will post his here on Thursday.

What am I working on?

Today, I’m putting the final polish on my story for The Big Bad: An Anthology of Evil 2 for Dark Oak Press. Once that’s finished I have a freelance gig to complete for a client so I can’t go into any details on that as yet. Then, later this week I dive into Snow Storm for the Stark Raving Group, the second book featuring Abraham Snow.

How does my work differ from others in its genre?

Everything I write has my unique voice to it. I also try to put a spin on plots that might, on the basest of levels, seem familiar. That’s where knowing the characters comes into play. If the character and I are meshing well, then the character will lead the charge.

Why do I write what I do?

Because I love it. I get a thrill out of crafting stories and characters. There is a thrill that’s hard to describe that comes over me when I hold a book I worked on in my hands. Even after having a hundred or so stories printed, that thrill has not diminished. I love it.

How does your writing process work?

I tend to work out plots and scenes in my head throughout the day, night, hell, I often dream about this stuff. Then, it’s just a matter of sitting in front of the computer

and start writing. I don’t do detailed outlines, but I generally know plot elements in the story-- I call then signposts on the road that is my story. I write from one signpost to the next until I reach my destination. Sometimes there are detours along the way, but part of the fun is seeing where those detours take me and the characters.

And that does it for my stop on the blog hop tour. Please, make sure you stop by Lee Houston, Jr’s blog to read his post. You can find it here. Tomorrow, visit Ralph L. Angelo Jr’s blog here and on Thursday, check out Sean Taylor’s blog here. Also, check out their work. I think you’ll find something there you’ll enjoy.

Thanks for inviting me along, gents.

Bobby

TIMEGATE 2014 CONVENTION WRAP UP!

The 1st time I've ever worn
a Doctor Who scarf. It was a thrill to be a guest at TimeGate over the weekend, May 23 - 25, 2014. Timegate is one of my favorite cons. It is a busy convention with great panels, but still remains small enough to feel laid back with little pressure. I missed the con the last couple years due to other commitments so it was nice to return this year along with several of my Earth Station One podcast network cohorts.

There were the panels I appeared on over the weekend.

SATURDAY
10 am - Project NORTHERN LIGHTS SitRep (Aaron Dunne, Mike Faber, Bobby Nash, Debbie Viguie) We had a great crowd and lively discussion about all things Person of Interest. There’s a lot of love out there for this fantastic television series.

I love how this shot came out.
The reflected sun adds a lot to it.11 am - Marvel At The Movies (Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, Adam Throne, Jen Hartshorn) We talked Marvel movies, TV, and of course, the comics. There was even a giveaway as one audience member walked away with a Spider-man DVD.

1 pm - Writing and the Media (Diana Botsford, Debbie Viguie, Bobby Nash) This was my favorite panel of the weekend. Not only did I get to talk about writing, but my co-panelists, Diana and Debbie, were great fun to chat with. You should definitely seek out their work. You won’t be disappointed.

4 pm - Arrow: The Second Shot (Aaron Dunne, Mike Faber, Bobby Nash, Debbie Viguie) This was a rather lively discussion and I loved it. Season 2’s changes have certainly split fandom.

Talking Elementary w/Louis RobinsonSUNDAY
2 pm - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Welcome To Level 7 (Aaron Dunne, Lee Martindale, Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, John Rabon) Another one of those shows that sparks much debate. Love it or hate it, there seemed to be no middle ground when it comes to talking about Marvel'’ Agents of SH.I.E.L.D.

3 pm - Elementary (Terri Sears, Bobby Nash, Ken Spivey, Louis Robinson) I had the great joy or talking about Elementary, and Sherlock Holmes in general, with Louis Robinson and the audience. We also veered off topic a bit to talk about NCIS, which was also entertaining. This was my second favorite panel of the weekend.

My favorite pic from the weekend. Thanks to Nikki Rau Baker for this one. My table O' books.Being behind the table and flying solo at the con, I didn’t get to move around too much. I did get to spend a few minutes talking with guests Doctor Geek himself, Scott Viguie, JC and Rita De La Torre, Monsterama's Anthony Taylor, Mark Maddox, and several cool folks stopped by my table to say hello. I know I’ll forget someone so I won’t try to write down everyone who stopped by, but it was great chatting with you all. I didn’t get the opportunity to talk with Stargate’s Paul McGillion or Torchwood’s Gareth David Lloyd, but I did see both of them around the con floor. A highlight of the con for me was having Doctor Who’s Terrence Dicks stop by to check out my books.

All in all, I had a fantastic weekend at TimeGate. I’d like to thank Alan, Susan, and the rest of the crew for taking such good care of me this weekend. Looking forward to doing it again next year.

I apologize for the crappy photos I took. My camera's phone was not cooperating as it should.

Art: Mark MaddoxOn this monster-size episode, the ESO crew assembles a team of G-Fans to discuss the return of the King of the Kaiju! Are Mike Faber, Mike Gordon, the award-winning author Bobby Nash, Ashley Bergner, Mark Holmes, Mark Maddox, and Timothy Price enough to take on the gigantic beast? One thing’s for sure, we’re gonna need a bigger Geek Seat! Since Godzilla won’t fit in our current chair, we strap musician/creator J.R. Mounts in for some Scairy Tales. A BLAST FROM THE PAST! JUNGLE FANTASY ON EBAY!

HEY! Cool! Now here's a blast from the past. I just saw this lot being sold on ebay (I'm not the seller). I wrote a story in Jungle Fantasy issue #1 back when I was writing for Avatar Press and worked on Demonslayer, Threshold, and Jungle Fantasy. I created the Jungle Vixens, the characters shown on the 3rd, 4th, and 6th cover (L-R). It was the first professional prose story I ever sold and featured full page illustrations by Al Rio. There's some sex and nudity there so adults only.

Looks like this auction ends today. Check it out here.
Bobby
UPDATE: Congratulations to the winner. $11 for 6 comics. Not too shabby.
Find me at a convention and I'll happily sign them for you.
