Know the Now, a poem
Know the now without rosy bend,When dreaming of a want, a win.
You can't arrive at a journey’s end,
Until long after you begin.
Unblind your eyes, unbend your truth,
Take each determined step in life.
Earn your value’s vaulted proof.
Gain victory over every strife. The end will not delay it's call,Just to wait for you to arrive.Find the path that will take you home,While teaching you to be alive.

Late
Photo by Lucidity LambHow did it get so late?
Where did the day go? The weekend? The years?
Why didn’t I plan to still be alive, living day to day to day in my forties?
What could I have done if I had known? What career? What adventures? What savings?
Who would I be if I had spent the last forty years planning to be forty five?

Bricks of Babel, a poem
What if words were bricks,Adding up through life,
Stacked high together,
The heavy and the light,
To form a tower filled
With babel to the sky?
Would your tower stand tall,
Or crumble before it’s time?

Freedom
Freedom is different than I once thought.
When I thought of freedom, I thought of what I could gain by losing everything I have. Of leaving and starting new somewhere else. Of a life not bound by the restraints of work and bills and cleaning.
But that’s not freedom.

Freedom is getting to take flight without giving up your place to land. It’s having nothing that keeps you from returning to the life you’ve chosen.
Freedom is knowing that after all the travels and trails and trials, you get to go home.
