The zombie tour begins
I'm on the road for 13 days (lucky me). I'm calling this the Zombie tour, not because I'm promoting my zombie book, but because I have a killer schedule, and I'm also trying to write a book, or at least the second half pf one, while I'm traveling. The tour actually starts tomorrow evening at Books & Co. at the Greene Shopping Center in beavercreek, OH. But I'm here first for two days at the Beavercreek High School. After that, it's off to the Blue Marble in KY, and then to California. De...

Getting got rocks

I love it when reviewers get what I'm doing. And I love it when they say nice things about my writing. Stacy Dillon, in her blog, welcome to my Tweendom, said (among other nice things), "David Lubar gets kids, and this book is gross and funny and perfectly paced." And Abbey the Librarian said, "If you've got kids who are fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Bruce Coville, you'll want to hand them this book. It's more than a little wacky and more than a little gross, but the story also has a...

This space unintentionally left blank
I realized I haven't been posting very much. On the other hand, I'm writing a book a week. Not really -- but it feels like it. I just sent back the copy-edited manuscript for Goop Soup, the third book in the Nathan Abercrombie series. I'm deep into the first draft of book four. The saving grace is that the books are middle grade, and thus fairly short compared to my young-adult novels.

When celebrity loses its Sheen
Charlie Sheen wants to spend twenty minutes with President Obama so he can explain his theory that the 9/11 attacks were part of a U.S. government conspiracy. This is stupid. He should draw on the resources of Hollywood and send John Moshita, who could do it in three minutes.
In other news, my bucket's got a hole in it. (Not really, but that song just came on, and I'm easily influenced by media.)

Decatur to my every whim
Friday, I flew to Atlanta for the Decatur Book Festival. Coming home Saturday evening, I stopped in the bookstore in terminal C at the airpoirt. As I scanned the shelves and saw the usual suspects (Twilight, Maximum Ride, etc.), I was pleased and amazed to see 5 copies of MY Rotten Life on the shelves. I signed them and thanked the clerk. He told me I should check out the store in terminal B. I found 2 copies there, but when I was walking around looking for a clerk, I noticed a display o...

Google gobbles one of us
(A billion coolness points if the subject heading made you smile knowingly.)
The news that a private school is getting rid of their library books and replacing them with a digital library would be chilling on its own. But coupled with the desire of Google to create and control a digital collection of as many published books as possible, this becomes chilling. Dayzed
On Thursday, it felt like Friday, which was good since I gained a day. Today, it feels like Saturday, which is bad, because I've now lost a day. Ever feel this way?

If someone needs a plot for an adult thriller
I'm sure I'm not the only one to think of this, but here goes. A man loses his family to a terrorist bombing. The terrorist is captured and given life in prison in a foreign country. Let's call it Scotfreeland. The terrorist gets terminal cancer and is released by the politicians of Scotfreeland. A year later, the man who lost his family finds out he has terminal cancer. He heads to Scotfreeland and gets a gun. (If it doesn't become a novel, I'm sure it will be an episode of Law and Order

Marvel(m)ous(e)?
I just heard, by way of Tamora Pierce's blog, that Disney has purchased Marvel Entertainment. (I get all my business news from Ms. Pierce.) I'm sure there is going to be a wave of bloggers both moaning and cheering. I have only one thought to add to the flood: Worst case, maybe there will be some sort of Marvel vs. Kingdom Hearts death-match video game. I would so love to put Goofy in a locked room with the Hulk.
