Why is it so difficult to accept certain gifts?
Luke shares a very similar story about God the Father and the relationship between a father and son. Upon the arrival of his son, the "father saw him and was filled with compassion for him" (15:20), even though the son told his father that he was "no longer worthy to be called [his] son; [and to] make [him] like [his] hired servants" (15:19).
