I have been a retired public school teacher since 2002, an important milestone after 27 years in Alaska employed in that rewarding profession. The most time was spent at middle school level teaching social studies and English, primarily composition, although I did teach at all levels 1-12, eventually.

My wife, Ginny, was a music teacher, and we spent much of our teaching time together at the same school. Actually, we have spent virtually all our lives sharing everything we have done: gardening, crafts, working on farms, mountaineering, camping and hiking, sailing, skin and scuba diving, traveling, and Peace Corps. Consequently, it has been a life of companionship and exploration.

It's mainly a matter of leaving it lie in my mind to ferment and then bring it to the surface when I can focus on it to at least get it started, or return it to the subconscious to ferment some more. I don't worry about not progressing, even if it takes years. If the fermenting is successful, the elixor will be ready to decant for that year's vintage.(less)

Lance, I found the description of your book to be very interesting. If I am not mistaken an author like yourself might be curious about the broader spectrum of life interests reflected in other writers’ work. The 1st volume of “400 Years of New York History: A Pictorial Guide” is as much a retrospective of Dutch New York as an attentive portrayal of its citizenry. Reunion: A Dive into the Past, Present, and Future
