Around My Office: Justice League

(Photo taken with my iPhone.)

Oh look... another statue. Actually another three statues. :P

These are DCU figures from the Justice League cartoon that aired on Cartoon Network back in 2001. Great show. Absolutely loved it. Any fan of DC or just Batman and Superman should totally watch this show. Don't get hung up on the cartoons being for kids thing. This show is for all ages.

Anywho. This

Writing Update: 05 October

So I was all geared up to get this writing train going on Monday and then I got derailed. Yet again I learn the lesson of not checking my email before I plan to write. I got some upsetting news that pretty much ruined my whole day, which meant no writing. Nothing major, but it was enough to put me in a bad mood.

Tuesday I did some browsing through my started stories to see in which direction I

Writing Advice: Self-Editing #4 - Reverse

One of the pieces of self-editing advice several people told me, and I've actually used on the odd occasion, is to edit the manuscript backwards -- start at the end and work your way to the beginning.

You can go paragraph by paragraph or page by page. The whole point of this is to force you to read your manuscript in a different way, which will help you catch your mistakes. Too often, when

Music: Before I'm Dead

Oops. This slipped my mind. Bad me. Okay well, at least I have plenty of music to fill up a year of these things. :P

This is a song from the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. I pretty much love that whole soundtrack but this song especially. I always imagine the end of the movie, which was so sweet, when I hear this song and it's very sensual so it's kind of a sex scene song for me.

Before I'm

Around My Office: Treadmill

(Picture taken with my Kodak camera.)
This is my Weslo Cadence G-40 treadmill (got it from Wally World back in April 2011). Yup, it's in my office, not four feet from the edge of my desk. Every time I look out the window (above it), I can't help but look at it.

I decided to get a treadmill after I quit my day job to become a full time writer. This career isn't much for the get-up-and-go. It's

Writing Update: 28 September

The weekend was non-writing time. Saturday the hubby and I went out window shopping and then to dinner after I slept most of the day away. In my defense, it took me forever to fall asleep so I ended up getting up late. Sunday I used to get stuff in order at my various blogs for the week so I wouldn't have any distractions.

All righty. This week was a complete bust. I was all set and my muse went

Writing Advice: Self-Editing Tip #3 - Separation

This probably should have been the first of the self-editing tips, but it's all good.

Before you start self-editing your finished manuscript, give yourself a cooling off period. Put the book down and step away. Don't look at it for a day or two or three... four if you can manage it. Five if you're really strong.

While you're writing, you are caught up in the high of the story climax and the
