‘Peaceful Easy Feeling.’
Day 6, TINSEL RAIN NaNoWriMo: 14953/60000
Would have finished earlier, but I went to a movie. Huzzah for me!
Patreon!“Something’s bothering you, Shamus?” she said. “Is it the charms?”
I looked at her, puzzled. “No, it’s just the Cazals Case. The charms, they’re still just a coincidence. I told you.”
“Sorry, Shamus. They just seem important to me. I don’t know why.”
“Well, Graciella, there’s two reasons why you might be feeling that. The first is that your Shamus instincts are rising up and grabbing your lapel, yelling at you that hey, this is important!” I popped the cap on my beer. I remember when they still used corks for that. Shoot, I remembered when the beer wasn’t always cold. Ah, progress.
Graciella watched me take a few swallows before she decided to ask, “So what’s the second reason?”
“You’re rushing the Case.” I put down the beer. “Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn’t. Not worth forcing a Case before it’s ready.”
11/06/20 Update, TALES FROM THE FERMI RESOLUTION Kickstarter (Stretch goal reached!)
It was a good couple of days, actually. Got movement, got to the second stretch goal for TALES FROM THE FERMI RESOLUTION. The third and fourth goals await!
My TENET Mini-Review.
Short version: TENET was good but it’s baroque as heck. I’m going to need to watch it a few more times.
Slightly longer version: TENET is about time inversion – essentially, reversed temporal flow – and while it’s a fun action movie on its own it’s definitely one of thos films where you’re going to like it if you like it weird. The special effects are very good, the dialogue from the hero is surprisingly snappy (TENET’s got a Bond vibe that you don’t really notice at first), and the temporal stuff gives a bit of ominous foreshadowing to the whole thing. But it won’t be everybody’s cup of tea.

PS: God, I missed movie theaters. Thank God I finally got to go to one again.
The LEGO STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL.
It’s… not as bad-looking as I thought it would be. I mean, I’ve seen more of the LEGO Star Wars stuff than I’d like to admit, because of my kids; but the LEGO STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL isn’t too bad, for what it is. Which is, something aimed at kids.
Go figure.
Tweet of the Day, No Way Am I Checking Those Lyrics edition.
If it’s not true, it should be. Guess there was a reason why you never heard the full song on Cheers?

‘The British Grenadiers.’
A bit late today, but that’s because it was both Baronial Newsletter Day and – more importantly – my wedding anniversary.
Day 5, TINSEL RAIN NaNoWriMo: 12938/60000.
Lonnnnng day and I technically went over but I can fix the timestamps on that because it’s my blog, so there. Over 21% done already! That sounds a little off, but then I was writing stuff before the month started.
Patreon!Igor had opened the letters first, because he always saved the packages for last. As he explained, he liked having extra time to prepare. Graciella looked at him oddly at that. “Why?” she asked.
“This is a coroner’s office, Miss,” Igor said. “Imagine what kind of things we get in the mail.”
The letters weren’t anything special, at least to me. They didn’t feel nasty, either. But one of the packages… I pointed to it without touching it. “Open that one first, Igor.”
“Wait, why me?”
“Because it smells bad, and it’s addressed to you,” I said. “It’s your evil mail, not mine.”
“True,” he said, and ripped open the package with an obsidian blade knife. I figured that was overkill — if there was still bad magic to spare, those corpses would be reanimating again — but as I said; it was his evil mail. If Igor wanted to be extra-careful, fair enough.
11/05/20 Update, TALES FROM THE FERMI RESOLUTION Kickstarter.
We had a little movement today. We’re now less than $20 away from the next stretch goal for the TALES FROM THE FERMI RESOLUTION Kickstarter. I’m pretty confident we’re going to hit that; and the next two, too. And I haven’t given up hope yet for the to-be-announced $2000 stretch goal, either. But that’s for another day.
Second try tomorrow to see TENET!
TENET’s coming out on DVD in December, but it’s still playing in IMAX now. And somewhere I can get to easily. The last time I was going to go I came down with pinkeye the day of, but I feel fine now. So… with any luck I can go to a movie again tomorrow. In a theater. I miss that.
