Just ordered: Justice Wing: Plan, Prototype, Produce, Perfect.

Justice Wing: Plan, Prototype, Produce, Perfect is Eric Burns-White’s first print novel, I believe. It’s a superhero tale based on his previous work (you can find a bunch of it here), and Eric is an old friend. I mean, like twenty, twenty-five years at this point? He’s a good dude, a good writer, and one of the few people I consider automatically reliable about the In Nomine* TTRPG. That last probably means nothing to you, but it does to me. So, obviously, I’ve already ordered the book.

Moe Lane

*There’s maybe ten people on the planet who make that list, and I have one of the slots on it.

In the E-Mail: CHALK.

Got pitched N.R. LaPoint’s CHALK as being a combo of Lovecraft and girl’s school; and, yeah, that’s gonna be worth a look. So far, no actual cosmic horror — but the heroine has been disarticulating shoggoths with a magical chainsaw, which is itself fine on its own. Also, the cover is pretty cool.

The WORSHIP Kickstarter.

I think WORSHIP looks awful and gruesome, in a very endearing way. Roguelike cultist building. I can’t play it around the kids, but I suspect this is one I’ll play.

03/11/21 Snippet, DUNGEON CLEANING.

Zombies!

Patreon!

Yeah, things. Three of them. They looked like somebody took a dragonfly, blew it up to about human size, killed it, and then reanimated it with galvanic wires and corrupted knowledge. Necromancy on the semi-cheap; not as long-lasting as your classic undead, but good for a one-shot when you didn’t care about being subtle.

There was a rotting ruby — don’t ask how they get it to rot — centered in each monster’s forehead; more galvanic necromancy. Sort of like a lightning jar, only for necromantic energy. The critters looked fairly alert, too, which was the worst part. I remember when a galvanized zombie was barely able to shamble. Now we got zombieflies. Isn’t progress grand?

03/11/21 Snippet, PIGEON.

Drinks!

Patreon!

Bub doesn’t drink when shielding and I don’t drink when there’s a crazy werewolf on the loose, so I ordered two sasparillas. As the barkeep brought ‘em over, sparing me a sneer only because Bub was looking at him, I muttered, “And I need to talk to Mrs. Annie. It’s important.”

“It’s always important,” the barkeep said. “What’s it worth to you?”

I gave him a look. “Fine. Go get Blue Sally, then.”

The barkeep smirked “That’ll just cost you a little bit less.”.

“Or it’ll cost me nothing when I tell Bub here to get her attention, neighbor.” I gave him a smile with no give in it at all. “I’ll bet Sal’s gonna love it if I tell her you’re shaking down people trying to do her a favor. Especially if I’ve gotten a fat lip in the process.” That stopped him; and I nodded. “Yeah. I’ll take some lumps for a talk with her. You’ll take more for getting in the way of it. So go get Sal!”

Tweet of the Day, One For The Marvelous Future List edition.

Saw this on the Penny Arcade Discord. Watch the bottom one first, so that you can appreciate the hysterical joke in the top one. But the original is in fact awesome, all on its own.

This is incredible, but the whole time I kept thinking something was missing so I tweaked it slightly. https://t.co/9prgrgjEsx pic.twitter.com/4hnb6QjpQL

Tweet of the Day, On To The Next Informative Failure edition.

I say this approvingly. This is how you get to putting rockets in the air and getting them back safely and then put them into the air again.

SN10 engine was low on thrust due (probably) to partial helium ingestion from fuel header tank. Impact of 10m/s crushed legs & part of skirt. Multiple fixes in work for SN11.

Via Instapundit. I’ll say this: watching Musk’s space program is a lot of fun. We might get somebody back to the Moon in my lifetime, at that.

Today was Shorts Day!

It’s a magical time, when a middle-aged man can break out the cargo shorts for the first time in a year. I get to wear them tomorrow and Friday, too! It’s very thrilling.

…Yeah, sorry, that was today. Shorts, and getting stuff written, but you knew about the stuff being written already. Some days aren’t very exciting.
