Oh, hey, ARMY OF THE DEAD dropped.

Gonna watch a bunch of that and then go to bed. I feel that this is a reasonable plan of action. It’s been a good week to get some mindless entertainment going.

5/21/21 Snippet, GARY AND THE WENDIGO.

It’s probably nothing.

Patreon!

I was putting some dishes away in the kitchen (no fridge or icebox, but at least there was piped-in spring water and a decent-sized Franklin stove) when I heard something from down below. It was a faint crunching sound, like somebody heavy walking over gravel, and I wasn’t really sure that I was hearing something at all. When you’re in a house that you don’t know, strange stuff gets magnified, and everything is strange. But every time I had almost convinced myself that I was hearing nothing, the sound came back. Maybe.

After about a minute of this, a certain part of my brain suddenly remembered that I was in a secluded cabin in the middle of the Haunted Woods; and that this was maybe not the smartest life strategy to adopt. We don’t know what’s out there, in the deeper parts of the Woods. We’ve only got vague stories, and some of them aren’t even that bad. But we do know that whatever’s out here is so strange that it makes Bigfoots look positively normal.

Check out my Author Interview on NFReads! (I am happy to do interviews.)

Found here. NFReads emailed me a couple of days ago to offer to do the online interview thing, and since I’m always happy to talk about myself, I agreed right away. It was fun, actually. The nice thing about being asking questions is that sometimes your answers surprise you, if only because you didn’t quite realize you had specific opinions on certain topics.

Anyway, check it out: https://www.nfreads.com/author-feature-moe-lane/

You ever get one of those feelings that an Amazon shipping disaster is unfolding…

…even as you’re watching, but nobody’s listening to your polite warning? Short version: I got that con in two weeks, I ordered books to sell for it a week ago, they’re saying the books will show up next week. So far, so good. A week is fine, it’s plenty of time for me to prep the books for transport to the con.

The problem is, the order pages show that one book out of the shipment is in transit, and will be showing up on my doorstep by the target delivery date. It’s currently wandering up and down the Eastern Seaboard. The rest of them ‘have yet to be shipped’ – but are also supposed to show up by the target delivery date. This is either an interesting artifact of the just-in-time delivery process, or stuff’s blowing up real good.

Yay?

Moe Lane

PS Amazon chat told me the books were printed, at least. I’m not sure I can quite trust the guy who assured me that, but I also screenshotted said assurance, so I guess ‘trust’ isn’t really a necessary part of the equation.

Spending the evening watching THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD.

THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD is some funny crap. It’s absolutely incoherent, and everything about the plot is deliberately absurd. Neither Ryan Reynolds nor Samuel L Motherfu*king Jackson give a good Goddamn, and that’s okay. I really needed to watch this level of total bullsh*t this evening.

Today was highly unproductive.

That just happens, sometimes. The end of the school year is suddenly looming, and every weekend is starting to have in-person stuff penciled into it. Which takes a little getting used to, I have to admit. What I’d ideally like to do is take a few days off and half-explosively decompress, but I won’t have the schedule for that for at least a month.

And I guess I just didn’t feel like writing anything today. Which is really funny, because I put together something for somebody else on how to deal with writer’s block. Physcian heal thyself, hey?

DC to back into the #Snyderverse with an INJUSTICE animated show?

Okay, fine, the answer is probably no. They’re just going to do the movie version of the cutscenes, or something. But you know me: always ready to stir the ordure.

And while I’m here: I personally cannot wait for the current crop of revisionist Superman stories finally plays out. I kind of feel bad for the folks who made SUPERMAN: RETURNS, honestly. They missed… the moment, the confidence of the studio, something… and then it all got abandoned when MAN OF STEEL came along. The irony is, I think the former will eventually end up being remembered as being the ‘real’ sequel to SUPERMAN II, while the latter will not get a critical reevaluation. Or something like that.

All that being said, turning the animated INJUSTICE movie into the animated JUSTICE LEAGUE sequel would be gonzo. If only to savor the outraged screams of everybody still upset that the Snyder Cut even got made.
