05/26/21 Snippet, LICHES GET STITCHES.
I had to rewrite pages of this when I realized I had switched from third person to first.

And as if thinking of death energy summoned it: as Pete got out his third clip he got a whiff of some. He looked over at Vinnie, who was now scratching at his neck. “Sudden itch?” Pete asked. “Yeah,” he muttered. “This magic?”
“Probably. It’s one of the ways normal people detect foul sorcery. Basically, you’re having an allergic reaction. Could be worse, though.”
“Oh? How?”
Pete held up one finger while looking for a handy trashcan; ah, there one was. Keeping an eye out for any sudden zombies, the exorcist moved over and took the opportunity to do a power vomit. Good thing I always get extra-hydrated before a job. “It could be that,” Pete said after he wiped his mouth with a tissue.
The THE TOMORROW WAR Amazon trailer.
THE TOMORROW WAR looks fun. Congratulations, Chris. You’re in the action genre pigeonhole now! I recommend you follow John Malkovich’s lead, and laugh your ass off all the way to the bank.

‘Down To The River To Pray.’

I finished the GREEDFALL RPG!
For those that don’t remember, GREEDFALL is this French game set in a 17th-18th century analogue, complete with black powder weapons, magic, and a lot of unsubtle references to colonialism. It redeems itself on that last point by being scrupulous about giving all of the factions you encounter suitable hang-ups and keeping everybody off the moral high ground, up to and including the various native tribes. Basically, everybody except you is a bit of an ass, which appeals to me, because it just means I have to clean everything up now. That’s my favored play style.
Plusses: Combat’s interesting, although I suspect I wasn’t maximizing my DPS (I was on the magic path, because that’s how I roll). The big thing, though, is diplomacy. I spent a lot of time running around making sure that everybody loved me, because I like games like that — and it rewarded me, so huzzah. All the static art objects are gorgeous, too. They did a good job making all the outside locations look different. Stable game; I crashed once during play.
Problems? The facial animations are AA quality, not AAA. It’s too easy to get locked into a quest. The companion AI sometimes lingers out of combat range. And while the people who translated the game into English may have been fluent speakers, they were not native speakers. Some of the word choices are odd.
Other than that? Good game. No regrets playing it. Grab it when it’s on sale again, sure.
The LAST NIGHT IN SOHO trailer.
They called LAST NIGHT IN SOHO a ‘psychological thriller’ but I’m pretty sure it’s straight up horror. Doesn’t look too bad, though. Mod Britain seems like a good vein for mining some scary.
The DCEU Honest Trailer.
Brutal, but the studios have brought it upon themselves. Also a little unfair, since I know that Honest Trailers liked AQUAMAN, WONDER WOMAN, and SHAZAM! just fine. But there’s no denying that the DCEU needs something to make it less scattershot.
05/25/21 Snippet, LICHES GET STITCHES.
Honestly, shuffling zombies aren’t much of a much.

The nice thing about fighting zombies is that you don’t need to sneak around much. You just have to stay out of range of… whatever they use to track humans. And it’s not very good.
They go down fast, too. The first three I saw after we burst through the door went down bang-bang-bang, right in the center of mass. The caliber I use, that’s enough to put a zombie on its ass. A quick look around, and there weren’t any others too close, so I tapped each one of the three in the head.
I looked back at Vinnie, who had his gun holstered, on my ‘suggestion.’ “One-and-one, see?” I said. “One in the body, one in the head. Knock ‘em down, take ‘em out, keep moving.”
“Got it,” Vinnie said as he pulled his piece out. “Do I start?”
“Let me get these two,” I said as I shot the ones now coming through the door. After I tapped them, I said, “Okay, reloading.”
