Technical Difficulties Fixed - I Hope!
If you've visited this site in the past several months, you would have noticed some odd things happening on my home page. Every time I wrote a blog post, the title would appear on the home page! I had no idea how this was happening or how to fix it. Right now I'm in the process–with a huge amount of help from my wonderful husband–of redesigning my website. He figured out how to fix the problem–for the most part. The one problem that remained was that after we moved the blog posts to their...
Accidental Model T Participant
I just returned from a fun, adventurous week in Lake Powell, Utah with many members of my family. We spent a lot of time on the water and hiking on the rocks.
A funny thing happened on the drive down, about a week ago. The small town of Kanab, Utah was hosting some soft of Model T convention. Those cars were everywhere–at the gas stations, motels, and driving. We noticed more and more Model Ts on the road as we drove through town. Then we noticed a lot of people lining the road, waving and...

The King's English Launch Party
Last Saturday I spent a couple of hours at a delightful bookstore in Salt Lake City called the King's English Bookshop. Eight other authors and I celebrated the release of our books. We had a nice turnout. The store had a nice set up for the authors on the back patio–where we worried about rain and adjusted tarps to keep the sun out of our eyes. For the most part the weather cooperated and it was very pleasant. At one point I complained to Sydney Salter–whom I shared a signing table...
The King's English Launch Party - A Little Late
Okay, so I have been really bad about getting this picture posted. Here I am (on the right) at one of the author signing tables with my good writing buddy Sydney Salter. The two of us met years ago at the Brigham Young University Writing for Young Readers Workshop. It is a fabulous workshop–and it obviously can help. Here's the two of us now, signing copies of our published books!

Surprise Publication offer
I received a nice little surprise last week. A couple of years ago I had a story published in My Friend Magazine. This magazine has since gone out of print, but the group that used to put it out is now focusing on books. They are doing a series of short story collections and want to include my story in their next book. It's the easiest publication offer I've ever gotten!
Last Minute Book Signing Invite
I just received a last minute invitation to participate in a book signing this Saturday, April 4, 6:00-8:00 PM. It's part of Ladies Night at Provident Book in Pleasant Grove, Utah (661 W. State Rd.) Several other authors will also be there–but I think they're all authors of adult books. They just don't get it. Young adult books are the best!
King's English Book Signing
I'm participating in a multi-author book signing on Saturday, June 6, 2:00-4:00 pm at The King's English Bookshop in Salt Lake City (1511 South 1500 East). Refreshments will be served. I'd love to see you there!
Becoming a Reluctant Model
The Daily Herald–a local newspaper–is doing a profile story on me and my book. The reporter came out to my house on Monday for the interview. Before she left, she said the dreaded words, "Our photographer will come out tomorrow to do the photo shoot." UGH! I really don't like having my picture taken. When the photographer came I warned him that I was very un-photogetic. He said, "Oh, everyone says that." I said, "But it's really true for me!" He was very nice, but I felt extremely SILLY...

A Nice Review
Here's a link click here to a nice review I recently became aware of. Thanks, Heather Justensen!

Redesigned Website Coming
Okay, I admit, I've basically been ignoring this blog for quite a while. As you can see, something strange is going on with my home page. A total make-over on this website is long past due–the biggest reason is because I have a new book coming out in September 2010 (Yeah! I'm so excited–tune in later for more details). The audience for my new book is quite different from my targeted readers for Life in the Pit, so a new look is in order. Please check back in a month or two, and hopefully by t...
