What are one or two of my secrets that readers would never know from your work?
This is a hard one for me. As this pen name is pretty much the happy me. I do have a dark side that I keep well hidden. Mainly because in my day job, I constantly have to be conscious of my outward appearance. Clients want a professional that is professional at all times. It can get a bit tiresome to be always happy and optimistic, especially for an introvert.
So I have a dark side. I'm not sure where it came from. Maybe it was from reading Agatha Christie like she was going out of style when I was in high school, or watching those horrible horror films in the nineties, or a by-product of my career. I have seen some pretty awful things that I can't talk about and need an outlet to process. I love to read Darcy Coates, gothic romance novels from the 1950s, and we can talk conspiracy theories all the time. They just suck me in. Why does Allie Bock not write stuff like that? She is trying to add a little bit of happiness to the world. At least, my stories make me smile...
What are some of your secrets?

Cover Reveal: Falling For My Cowboy by Allie Bock

Hey guys,
I am so excited to announce that my first full-length book is coming out on June 15th! Yah! I just got the cover back from the wonderful Deborah at Tugboat Design LLC. What do you think? Isn't it beautiful?

Book Blurb:
In one day, everything in Melanie Baker's life fell into shambles. What was a woman to do?

City slicker, Melanie, packed up her one-eyed Beagle and what was left of her pride in a retreat to see her best friend. She didn't make any plans beyond that, until her car broke down on the outskirts of Sunnydale, TX. She was stranded, left to depend upon the kindness of a stranger. It didn't matter that he'd smile with his eyes and made her insides like jelly. She was done with men, wasn't she?

Pete Thompson's life wasn't a cake walk he thought it would be. On his way to negotiate yet another deal with the bank, he came upon a woman and her Beagle sitting on the side of the road. His Texas sized heart wouldn't let him just drive on by. How was he to know that helping this one person could change his life?

Falling For My Cowboy is the second book in the sweet and clean Cowboys of Sunnydale series set in Sunnydale, TX. Will the city slicker let the cowboy into her heart? Will pride stand in the way to finding true love?

Pre-order link

With lots of love,
Allie
P.S. I am looking for ARC readers. If you are interested, send me an email at alliebock@hotmail.com. I'd love to have you on my team!

Book Review: Mystic Bayou series by Molly Harper

36697443. sx318
Book Blurb from Goodreads on How to Date Your Dragon:

Anthropologist Jillian Ramsay's career has taken a turn south.

Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations. Mermaids and gator shifters swim in the bayou. Spirit bottles light the front porches after twilight. Dragons light the fires under crayfish pots.

Jillian's first assignment for the League could be her last. Mystic Bayou is wary of outsiders, and she has difficulty getting locals to talk to her. And she can't get the gruff town sheriff, Bael Boone, off of her back or out of her mind. Bael is the finest male specimen she's seen in a long time, even though he might not be human. Soon their flirtation is hotter than a dragon's breath, which Bael just might turn out to be....

Review of the Series:

I am not going to review each one of these books for you. They are Audible Escape. If you haven’t tried it yet, please do. You won’t regret it. This is not a commercial for Audible Escape. I binge listened to this series one weekend when I had to work all weekend. It was so easy to do!

I love the way Molly Harper writes. The stories are full of action and romance. The heroines are women I want to be friends with. Smart, sassy, and independent. They don’t need a man until they met “the One”. Then, I just swoon when the heroes come on the page. They are sweet, strong and incredibly sexy. I picture them with lots of muscle. But not only is there romance in her stories, she puts her characters into real danger. Sometimes, I can see it coming but more than often I can’t.

I would recommend listening to these stories on Audible escape. I already said that, didn’t I? The narrators are fantastic. Amanda Ronconi reads from the heroine POV and Jonathon Davis reads the hero’s POV. Their voices are easy to listen to and bring life to their characters. Jonathon has a very rich voice that gives the butterflies when he does the southern accent.

Book Review: Her Second Chance Cowboy

Her Second Chance Cowboy (Brothers of Miller Ranch, #1)
Book Blurb from Goodreads:
When Ben accompanies his mother to an old friend’s funeral…the last person he expects to see is her.

As the eldest son of the wealthy Miller family, Ben Miller is content with helping his brothers run their family’s ranch in Montana. Well… mostly content. There’s a certain something missing from his life, and he’s done a good job denying it for the past decade. Until she rolled back into town…

After ten years fighting to make it in the Big Apple, full-figured Chastity finds herself heading back to the one place she vowed she’d never return. But a tragedy in the family forced her home, and she finds herself facing an uncertain future.

Ben and Chastity were high school sweethearts whose three-year relationship ended dramatically. But they were once in the head-over-heels, can’t-breathe-without-you kind of love. And now, they suddenly find themselves pushed into each other’s lives again in the most surprising of circumstances.
Natalie DeanAmazonGoodreads
Book Review:
This was the first book in the Brothers of Miller Ranch series by Natalie Dean. I’ve gotta say I loved this book as I stayed up all night to read it. It is a contemporary inspirational western romance with classic second chance trope. I missed the inspirational part when I borrowed it from KU. I still enjoyed the read; I was surprised as it increasingly got more religious through the story.
I have a love/hate relationship with second chance romances. I don’t think they are realistic, but I love people getting happy endings. What I really liked about this book was Chastity’s drive. All her life people made comments about how she wouldn’t succeed and her parents just wanted her to get an MRS. degree. It really messed with her head and she was trying to prove everyone wrong, but along the way she lost herself.
When she returned for her father’s funeral, she found her mother with a severe health condition and her finances were a mess. She needed to make drastic changes to help her mother and may have to give up her dream, but she preserved. That’s what I love about the story. The romance was secondary. I could see the chemistry between the two of them, but I wasn’t invested in it.

Book Review: A Cowboy to Remember

A Cowboy to Remember (Cowboys of California #1)

Book Blurb from Goodreads:
In this brand-new series from award-winning author Rebekah Weatherspoon, a charming cowboy and his sleeping beauty find their modern-day happily ever after . . .

With a headline spot on a hit morning show and truly mouth-watering culinary skills, chef Evie Buchanan is perched on the edge of stardom. But at an industry party, a fall lands Evie in the hospital—with no memory of who she is. Scrambling to help, Evie’s assistant contacts the only “family” Evie has left, close friends who run the luxury dude ranch in California where Evie grew up. Evie has no recollection of them—until former rodeo champion Zach Pleasant walks into her hospital room, and she realizes his handsome face has been haunting her dreams . . .

Zach hasn’t seen Evie in years—not since their families conducted a campaign to make sure their childhood friendship never turned into anything more. When the young cowboy refused to admit the feelings between them were real, Evie left California, making it clear she never wanted to see Zach again. Now he refuses to make the same mistake twice. Starting fresh is a risk when they have a history she can’t recall, but Zach can’t bear to let go of her now. Can he awaken the sleeping beauty inside her who might still love him?
Rebekah WeatherspoonDafina BooksGoodreads
Book Review:
This was my first book by Rebekah Weatherspoon. It was an entertaining read. Evie lost her memory after a traumatic event at a Christmas party. Then, she gets whisks away to California to recover her memory away from the lights and action of her day job to live with a family she hasn’t seen in years. The only person she has dreams about walks into her life and wants to help her.
The chemistry between Evie and Zack is electric. I found myself turning the pages absorbing all of Ms. Weatherspoon’s words. I love the twist she did with the amnesia troop as I usually see that done with men and women have to help them. It was entertaining and lots of fun.
I received this story from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

First Book is Out!!!

Hey guys,

I wanted to share my exciting news with you! My first book is live and online. It is available in your favorite ebook format. I'm figuring out the paperback format too!

Allie Bock Writes
Book Blurb:
Katie Kisment never thought much about going home after she left for college.  Truth be told, she couldn’t leave town fast enough.  But life goes on and being there to see her oldest friend get married was something she wasn’t going to miss.  All of the focus would be on the bride-to-be so no one would probably even recognize her.  How bad could it be?
As a photographer, Katie was used to hiding behind the camera.  But not even her camera could hide her from the only person she ever had feelings for, even if he never knew.
As a cowboy on the Kisment Ranch, Levi knew the three unbreakable rules: no fighting, no drugs, and no dating their only daughter.
Levi was happy for his sister, he really was, but he didn’t see why he had to be so involved in her wedding.  It was bad enough she had him toting balloons around like a child, what could she come up with next?
Saddle up and hang on tight for the wild ride in this sweet and clean story set in Sunnydale, TX.  Will Katie survive the wedding weekend in her old home town?  Will Levi be able to keep his composure and not make a scene at his sister’s wedding?  Or will fate have something entirely different in mind for both of them?
So what do you think? Are you interested in reading it?
Below I've got links to buy it on your favorite website.
Buy it Now!
Or you can get it for free if you sign up for my newsletter! (Insert evil laugh!) LOL
I want your newsletter!
With lots of love,
Allie

The Billionaire's Dog Walker Scene 3

Hi readers!
This year I am going to use Grammy’s short story prompts to write a story for my wonderful blog readers. Check out her blog. It’s a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy the story. Any feedback, comments, and constructive criticism are welcome.

Sorry I missed last month, but I was dealing with a bit of a writer’s block on my story and I didn’t know where to go with Vivian and Trevor’s story. You can read SCENE 1 and SCENE 2.
Prompt for this month: It was Friday, time for the weekend to...
Photo by Wesner Rodrigues from Pexels
Scene 3It was Friday, time for the weekend to begin. I’d been looking forward to spending some time by myself exploring my new city, coming to grips as to where the journey of my life had taken me. But no, instead, I’d been dressed up in a fancy ballgown, escorted across the city, to go to a gala with a man I’d just met this morning.
Flashed of the cameras brought me back to the present. Mr. Donne had me my the elbow and was whispering something in my ear. The cameras flashed again and my heel caught on the carpet. It snagged, throwing my body forward. A strong arm wrapped me around my waist to hold me upright.
“Easy there,”” he purred into my ear. “You don’t want to give the tabloids fun things to write about.”
What? The tabloids. My stomach sunk like a stone to my feet as my heart haammered in my chest.
“Whoa, no need to panic.” His blue eyes searched mine. “I was just joking.”
Joking or not, this was not good. “I can’t be in the papers or magazines,” I whispered out of the side of my mouth. My eyes darted from one side to the other as we stepped into the ballroom. It was elegantly decorated and a band played a soft tune in the corner. I should’ve been excited but instead my brain screamed run away. “Pictures wasn’t part of the deal.” I freed my arm from his grasp. “I need to leave.”
He took a step back and his piercing blue eyes searched my face. In my other life, I’d be enjoying every moment in this man’s company. Not anymore, I saw a exit sign and made to go to that.
“Wait. Don’t leave.” His hand engulfed mine, pulling me back to him. Tingles of electricity ran up my arm and my cheeks heated as he came near. “If it’s the pictures, I’ll have my assistant buy their silence.”
“I wish it were so easy.” I shook my head, “I’m supposed to keep myself invisible.”
A frown crossed his brow. “Why?”
I chewed on my bottom lip. Do I trust him? I trusted the last man who promised to take care of me and look where I ended up. Making up my mind, I stepped closer to him. Standing on my tiptoes, I whispered, “I’m in witness protection.”

IWSG Post for April

Hey guys! Guess what day it is! It's the first Wednesday of the month, so time to participate in the IWSG blog hop. It's a lot of fun! Check it out, you might want to joint us insecure writers!

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!
Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.
Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.

Remember, the question is optional!

April 1 question - The IWSG’s focus is on our writers. Each month, from all over the globe, we are a united group sharing our insecurities, our troubles, and our pain. So, in this time when our world is in crisis with the covid-19 pandemic, our optional question this month is: how are things in your world?
The awesome co-hosts for the April 1 posting of the IWSG are Diane Burton, JH Moncrieff, Anna @ Emaginette, Karen @ Reprobate Typewriter, Erika Beebe, and Lisa Buie-Collard!

Hey Guys,

How are you doing? Are you staying safe? Is your family O.K.?

This past month has been crazy. Can you believe everything that has happened?
First, it was a Leap Year. Then a week later, we had Daylight Savings, a full moon, and Friday the 13th. That week was horrible. Now, we have COVID-19 going on. March has been an epic disaster. I’m not going to talk about the virus, because there are better resources out there than my little newsletter such as the CDC and WHO.
Anyway, so are you safe at home or still out in the trenches? What have you been doing with your time?
I’m still in the trenches, but we’ve put some policies to limit exposure to my staff at the clinic. It’s been interesting to say the least, and not only that, but I’ve had some of the most bizarre cases I’ve ever seen. It has been exhausting. Maybe the world has turned the wrong way on its axis or the planets aren’t lined up the right way. Whatever it is I hope things get back to normal and quickly.
Besides going to work, I’ve been staying home, writing, and reading. There have been a ton of free and reduced books posted on Amazon for everyone that is staying home. Check them out you might find a new author you like. I think it’s also happening on the other platforms (Nook and Kobo) but I don’t read on there. The other thing I really like is Kindle Unlimited. It’s $9.99/month and you get to “rent” as many books as you can read up to 10 at a time. How that works is that the authors get paid by the page you read in their books, and that helps small indie authors put food on the table for their families.
I’m starting a Christmas story about a young woman being stranded in a snow storm and getting rescued by a really hot cowboy. It’s a lot of fun and I can’t wait to share it with you closer to the holidays. The finishing touches have gone on my short story and the cover was done this past weekend. It’s about a woman named Katie that goes home for a friend’s wedding and gets roped into helping her. She is assigned to do tasks with a man that she’s had a crush on since high school, but he doesn’t know that. It is super cute. (At least, I think so.) I’ll send you an email with a link to a free copy as a thank you for being on my newsletter list. Look for that in the middle of April.
Other than that, I’ll leave you with some cute pictures to help brighten your day. The first one is of nine-week-old Tank and the second one is grown up Tank. He really does eat the mail. One day, he ate a two-hundred-dollar check. That was an embarrassing phone call to make.

Stay safe and I’d love to hear from you and see pictures of your pets!
Lots of hugs,
Allie
P.S. When you comment put your blog at the end so I can go visit!
