What Writers Can Learn From The Harry Potter Series

Arguably, one of the best-received fantasy series in recent years has been J.K Rowlings, Harry Potter. If you were like me and grew up in the early 2000s, there was no escaping it. The books, the movies, the toys. It was everywhere.

I still remember the first time I watched the Sorcerers stone on VHS. At six years old, my cousin and I hunkered out in the cold basement with a bowl of popcorn and nervous excitement. The latter mostly me being afraid of the dark of the basement.

The Grand Reveal

Hey Guys,

I hope you are having a good day. Ive been meaning to share something with you for a while. This is the big surprise I mentioned before.

I dont know if you guys know yet, but Ive been writing a book and its coming soon.

Here’s to a Momentous New Year

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year!

I just wanted to give an update on the website and content going forward, as well as taking a moment to appreciate the year now passed.

I have three posts in the works but have hit numerous dead ends and roadblocks on the technology side. Some plugins werent cooperating with others, and I could go on. Like I have said before, its been a learning experience.

I also have a big surprise with a project mostly under wraps so stay tuned. More content is coming soon....

Lessons learned

About almost a year ago, I accomplished something I never thought possible. After years of daydreaming and wrestling with my self-doubts, I published a short story. It didnt feel real. I did it. I was officially an author.

With it came this boiling cesspool of emotions smacking me all at once. First, there was an overwhelming relief that the editing was over, worrying over whether will like me, and whether my story isnt good enough. And most of all, holy crap, I cant believe Ive done this. I...

Introductions

Im generally new to writing and have been doing it in my spare time for a couple years now.  I took creative writing classes alongside AP literature in high school and loved it. As of the launch of the site, Ive started taking a class at thewritepractice.com to learn how to publish and grow as a writer with community feedback

I dont have a niche genre per say, but I enjoy toying with sci fi and fantasy aspects.  I avoid erotica like the plaque though because ew, and I occasionally avoid...
