The Daily Card, October 1, 2014 – Two of Disks

Welcome!

This is my inaugural post on my new tarot blog; The Daily Card. I will be drawing a card a day every weekday, from a different deck each time, for a full year.

Today I drew the Two of Pentacles, aka, disks, aka Earth. The image is of a healthy little toddler holding a cat. The little one has another cat by their (gender neutral they) feet. In the background is the opening of a cave – as though we are within the cave. Beyond the mouth of the cave lies an environment like the North American southwestern desert; rocks and crags and canyons.

In the foreground, where the babe sits on the ground, there are flowers and green plants growing. It’s not lush, but it is living. The kiddo and the cats are in a safe space, sheltered and protected from the harsher elements outside.

Who needs more than cats and cuddles, and roof over the head?

I pull in the awareness that twos are to me cards of balance and contentment. A sweet spot to start out from.

 

And, because this is the beginning, I draw a second card…

and I find The Fool! Of course I do. Because the cards are like that. A beginning like this needs The Fool.

Though I have worked with this deck quite a bit, I have not seen this card before. As a rule I don’t familiarize myself with all the cards in a deck. I like the fluid nature that arises from the intuitive relationship with the cards as they appear familiar.

This Fool is different than any Fool I have seen. The image is of a flying contraption. It brings to mind Icarus. There is a fortress to the right, and a body of water to the left. The only way out is up. And so the Fool flies.

Perhaps it’s not the safest option, but it is the most freeing. Given the choice of confinement or risk, I choose to take flight.

We also have the asteroid Lilith in the mix, who is channeling in an edge of firy liberation and “the personal is political” energy. This will be an awesome new moon to work with to create personal outcomes regarding balance, love, and passionate change. Yay! Looking forward.

Or, you may choose to have a private Tarot Party with a group of friends.

Why hire an actor to do a reader’s job, when you can offer the real deal? I’m a seasoned reader and Witch, and a bestselling Witchy author (Sexy Witch, Llewllyn Worldwide), with a flare for the ceremonially theatrical. Reading the cards is part of my path of service to the greater good, but there’s no reason not to dress it up and enjoy.

I can work in a seated location and have curious querents come to me, or I can perform as a roving reader. I am also flexible with costuming, and will tailor my tailoring to fit your tone.

I can offer literally dozens of three card readings in an evening/night, or offer fewer more intensive, multiple card readings to special guests. Regardless of the length of the reading, all are given with depth, and I always seek a sweet, intimate connection with my querents.

Hire me for the evening, or a whole weekend. My basic flat rate is $350 for up to four hours of continuous, roving or stationed, readings. Additional hours are $50 each. (Ideally by prior negotiation, but time permitting I can roll with the changes, and may be able to stay on as desired.)

Happy Healthy Magickal Winter Holidays

Hi friends;

I’m creating a Happy Healthy Magickal Winter Holidays wed-based telecourse program. The program will include weekly group calls on Monday evenings (6:30 pm Pacific), a 24/7, dedicated, private, on-line support and discussion group, and a buddy system.

Q: I don’t know what “Changes of Fortune” are? I’m curious.

A: The additional information you receive with Changes of Fortune is considerable, and the benefit of being able to create changes within the reading itself is very empowering. Here are some of the tools;

1. the breakdown of card categories: trumps and suits, as well as the number of cards per suit.

The number of Trumps will give an idea of the intensity level of the changes you’re.

The number of cards per suit show what element (air/fire/water/earth) or arena of life (thought/creative impulse or expression/emotion/grounding) the changes are dominant in.

(Air/swords=thoughts and ideas, fire/wands=creative expression and passion, water/cups=emotion and introspection, earth/disks=grounded, material concerns.)

2. The number of numbers – for example, more than one four in a reading for example (like, emperor = 4 in trumps, plus 4 in wands and 4 in cups) might mean that you’re dealing with issues of stability and security, or restraint.

Additionally, we come up with the overall numerical value of the reading, adding all the numbers together, and refining it down to the number of a trump, or trumps, as the case may be. (If a number refines to 21, it also refines further to 3, meaning your keynote cards are The World, and The Empress. The number 31 though, for example, refines directly to 4, meaning your keynote card is The Emperor.)

3. We may choose to do magicks to change the outcome, should that be desired. Taking a card you feel offers the most positive possibility of the reading, and using the power of that card to counteract the card you see as the least positive.

The transmutations are an involved process, but the full reading is a really good choice if you want to leave feeling like you’ve taken the reading, and your fortune, into your own hands.

Q: Do you offer readings by skype and/or phone?

A: Yes. Whichever you prefer.


Q: I’m local. Can I get an in-person reading?

A: Yes! We can do your reading in your home, in my home, in a park or other outdoor setting, or at a cafe. Whatever is most appealing to you. I also offer reading parties for groups of friends.


Q: Is it best to have a specific line of inquiry in mind as well?

A: The more specific the inquiry, the more specific the reading.That said, you have three options;

1. General readings yield more broad results, and the elements of the reading may take a little bit longer to eek out. This is great if you’re in a “wait and see” kind of place.

2. You may choose a “category” for the reading; work, career, love, money, family, etc.

3. You may ask a direct question, with as much detail as you like. The more detailed the question, the more detailed the reading will become.

Q: Should I bring a notebook or anything else?

A: I encourage you to bring a notebook, and you may also want to bring a camera (or your phone) to snap an image of your reading, and a voice recorder (or your phone) to record audio of the reading. If this is an online reading, I will send you pics of the cards if you want.
