Grafton excerpt I

Grafton is part of the Dixon-Prince series. It has stories relating to Gunny Grafton and his family, including Melody Grafton’s backstory. We are also introduced to his daughter, and find out her backstory. Of course, we get to see some more of Gunny and his merry band of former special forces operators, as well as the Dixons and Princes. This excerpt is from Mali’s story. Jakob had proposed, but things hadn’t gone as planned. One of my absolute favorite characters of the series, Nicole Dixon Ri...

Star – unpublished excerpt

This is from one of the pieces I’m working on at the moment. Part of it was inspired by our recent vacation, if that isn’t obvious. I think it is actually going to mesh with another story that I have been working on called Jilted… also unpublished. Currently, between the stories I have about 20k words. But we are far from any conclusions. I don’t think this will be in the Dixon-Prince series… and I think it will be more romance than action. But I really don’t know yet.

I leaned back against ...

Colt and his LM002 – II

If you were reading earlier this week, or have read Unknown Caller, you will be familiar with Colt Dixon, Jack and Amy’s son. He has been a fun character to write, but much like Jack, he was a bit too perfect. I’m still working on the hidden story of Jack Dixon, but this in a little background on Colt. He is quite a bit deeper than he appears. The first part was posted last Friday.

Colt was well aware that Selena’s public persona of wholesome and naïve was nothing more than publicity. But...

Colt walked around the angular off-road rig, a smile creeping across his face. He slowed and stopped at the ...

Unknown Caller – excerpt II

I wrote Triple Cross as a break away from the Dixon-Prince series, then the idea for Unknown Caller hit and the book pretty much wrote itself, as did Lies & Omissions right after. I had been wondering what would happen as Jack and Amy matured, and UC was the answer. It is set in contemporary times… right down to masks being required in some places. I really struggled with masks, though.

Greg ran across the base, sticking to shadows.  He had found what he didn’t even know he was looking for...

Who, What, When, Why? III

This is an excerpt from “The Soldier”, one of the stories in the Who, What, When, Why? anthology of stories from the Dixon-Prince world. It tells about what happened to Rolf between Dig Two Graves and You Don’t Know Jack. As with the other stories, it fills in some gaps.

Over the next few weeks I will be posting excerpts from all of my books, in the order in which they were written. Currently, all of them are available on Kindle Unlimited, Kindle, and print-on-demand (except Second Chanc...

What’s in the Works?

So many ideas…

One of the things that I have figured out is that I can sort of multi-task on writing. After Dig Two Graves I started writing several things at a time. Basically, if I hit a wall, I would get around it by getting out of the story. I would work on another idea for a while, then come back to the one with a wall when I had fresh eyes.

The result is that I generally have several projects going at one time. Right now I have three or four solid novel starts. Using working t...
