What’s Percolating in Sam’s Brain?

What’s Coming Next?

That’s a question that’s been coming up a lot lately –both from myself and readers. With Harper and Pietr’s story coming to an end (at least, where they’re the main focus), it’s time for me to shift gears and start thinking about what the next main project is going to be. And…well, there are a lot of them that have been percolating.

So, I’d love to hear from you all what you’d like to see in the nearer future… Here’s what’s in the pot:

In the Dark Little Town spin-of...

Romance-Con: Post Event Thanks

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came out for Romance Con. I know that I was not the author that many (…any) of you had even heard of or expected to see this past weekend, but you were all so lovely, kind, respectful, and more than a few of you humored me with sales of not just my books but also my experiment into Beard Balm with my little sister’s small business, Lace & Jade Crafts.

Through the end of the month, you can still save 20% on ebooks when you buy directly from m...

Join me for NoStoMo (November Story Month)!

Some of you may be aware that I parted ways with a certain organization last year in a blaze of fire. I spent November of 2023 writing, but not tracking in a joyful way with others. For the first time in 14 years, I actually had time to spend with my family –not thinking, “Wow, I could be getting so much writing done right now!”.

The truth is, I outgrew that organization years ago. Some years, 50K in 30 Days was more of a challenge than others, but in the last few years with them…I was above...

On the Power Play is Here!

Believe it or not, the 2nd Puck and Pen book is ready to go! You can pre-order from your favorite vendors for both ebook or paperbacks, AND…you can actually read it TODAY from Smashwords.

On The Power Play picks up a few months after Light the Lamp, as the hockey season has wrapped up. Pietr and Harper have a few loose ends to tie up before they start their summer though. First, Harper has to navigate an introduction to the WAGs; the wives and girlfriends of the other players. Then it’s a wee...

I’m Hosting a Book Launch Event!

Anyone local to me may remember last year when I was on a panel as part of Pride events in Eau Claire, WI. The Chippewa Valley LGBTQ+ Center invited me and two others to come speak about our experiences as queer creators. You can actually watch the whole talk here!

Anyway, after that event I spent almost an hour or so chatting with one of the owners of the venue (String Theory Studio), Katie. Part of this conversation was about maybe, possibly, would we like to collab on doing a book launch a...

Light the Lamp Update

I haven’t published anything since 2021, but I finally have the first in my new LGBTQ hockey romance series coming out next month! I am super excited about it and have gotten a lot of positive feedback from early readers. One of my beta’s called it a “cozy romance” with “Heartstopper vibes”. That is basically the highest compliment I feel I could have been given.

I know that Light the Lamp is a little unusual. It’s the first I’ve ever seen that features a nonbinary lead (who isn’t completely ...

A New Book Is Coming!

I am simply SO excited to announce that I FINALLY have a new book coming. Though, it is not necessarily the book that I intended to put out. Ever. Here we are, and I hope you love it.

“Where do your ideas come from then?”

“I don’t know. It’s this nagging inkling of what-if.”

“I understand this nagging feeling.” The man took a step closer. “Like, this voice in my head that keeps telling me to kiss you.”

Harper’s eyes widened slightly. “What? Why?”

“Why?” He sounded surprised. “W...

Real Talk No Longer PermaFree

I made the decision this evening to take Real Talk off permafree. It is now $2.99 in all major retailers. However, it will continue to be free on PayHip.

Please remember, if you purchase from PayHip, all proceeds go directly to me, so it is the best place to buy. I also offer bundles of all 5 of my books in the Dark Little Town series in both paperback and digital, which is the best bargain.

The truth is: I’m in a bit of a struggle financially at the moment. If folks are going to buy them,...

Heart On Ice — an Olympics Inspired Short Story

So, way back in 2018 I had this idea for a Figure Skating story. I wrote what is below with that shred of any idea –and I liked it, but then decided…I could definitely do more with this. Aaaaaand, so there is about 20K worth of a novel sitting on my hard drive, featuring Hanna Lasher and Yuki Yukihara’s romance.

Will it ever see the full light of day? Maybe.

But the Olympics have changed since 2018 –my premise had been set on Hanna being the determined woman to add quad jumps to her skill...
