My Purpose or Destiny?

Would you believe me if I told you that I am not entirely human? Of course you wouldn't, so I will not go there. I will tell you that I finally know where I belong and why my parents abandoned me at the age of two. Correction... why they hid me away from my kind to protect me. After all of these years of thinking I am going crazy due to my dreams (nightmares to be exact), I know they have a purpose now. I have a feeling of belonging. I will find this killer and nothing they do will persuade me otherwise. It is only a matter of time.

Intimidation From a Killer?

I didn't think my life could get any more complicated, but I have been proven wrong since the day I stepped out of my car in Sumner, South Carolina. The longer I am here, the more I am beginning to think that I am the key to revealing the killers' identity and they know this. I have one thing to say. If they know anything about me at all they will know by now that I am not easily persuaded nor intimidated. It is up to me to finish this and I will.

Hardship of a Writers' Life

The most challenging part of becoming a writer/author has been finding a following. I have come across some great advice throughout the internet and I have many social platforms but still, I am finding it hard to reach readers of fantasy/crime fiction. What are some ways you have found a following for your writing? What advice would you give to those struggling with finding an audience for their work?

Journal and Case Intertwine

Detective Hughes ... if I had to describe the man, I can only come up with one word and that word would be arrogant with a capital A. Have you ever met someone for the first time and instantly have a loathing for the person? No, loathing is such a strong word. I am being unfair. I would have to say I feel distrust for Detective Hughes. Surprisingly even with his arrogance the other day, he came to me and apologized. I have to give him credit for that. Maybe our next meeting will go better since I agreed to meet him tomorrow to start over. We will see.
With that aside, I've had some developments in the case. With the information Professor Quinn sent me the other day, I have compared those documents with my journal entries and find it so uncanny how accurate they intertwine together. I have been going through so many emotions lately that I don't know whether to feel scared, excited, worried, fascinated, etc... How should someone feel in such a situation? I am at a loss.

Crime Transcends Time

I received an unexpected call from Professor William Quinn today. He seems to have become dedicated to helping me solve this case. After doing further research on the note he translated for Daniel and me last week, he came across similar cases with the same M.O. as the one I am working on currently. Most of these other cases span back several decades. The majority of the murders have been committed in Scotland, Ireland, and England, and the most recent here in the United States. I don't want to go into too much detail on here, but suffice to say, I am finding my personal life being drawn further into this case. I can't bear to think where this is leading.

Translation

The meeting with Professor Quinn proved to be fruitful. He was able to translate the note for us. The note is written in Gaelic and it reads, 'A Life For A Life'. Daniel and I are still unsure what it could possibly mean and how it relates to the young woman, but at least we have another lead to follow. We now know that the killer can write Scottish or Irish Gaelic. That has to mean something but what?

The Trip

We arrived this afternoon in Lochmist N. C. The hotel we are staying at Hotel Draiocht is breathtakingly beautiful. I am in awe of its architecture. It reminds me of walking into a 16th Century Irish Castle. Not that I have visited one, but I have seen pictures. After a short rest, we decide to do a little sightseeing before we met up with Daniel's friend at the Irish Pub for a couple of drinks and to unwind from the trip. Chris overall seems like a really nice guy and he plans to travel to Sumner this spring to visit Daniel which seemed to make Daniel happy. Back at the hotel Daniel and I had dinner before retiring to our rooms. I think today was a good day considering how tired I am from the trip. I just hope tomorrow proves fruitful with the professor so we don't go back home empty-handed.

If you are curious as to the name of the hotel please check out the following link. I chose the name because the hotel enchants all those who enter.

draíocht (Irish) noun

draíocht (fem.) (genitive singular draíochta, nominative plural draíochta)
druidic art, druidism witchcraft, magic; charm, enchantment
