Two things you can't do without in 2017
It’s a New Year and a great time to start over with God. It’s a good time to set up some moments with God in prayer and in the study of his word. There is no better time to seek the face of your Maker. I can think of a million and one things you may need to ask for – kids, job, spouse, finances and many more. If I could give you one advice in 2017 it will be to seek his favor and help. The bible text above tell of how God has a time when he does answer our request and it’s in a moment o...

Just for fun.
What would you rather have this Christmas? Time with the ones you loveA gift you really wantMost people think its best to give gifts during the holidays. Another school of thought believes the best gift to give is yourself, spending time with the people you love.I'm beginning to take sides with the first school of thought. Hear me out, you spend most of your 365 days with the people you love, wouldn’t it be nice to actually give a gift other than yourself? Well that's me, what do you th...

A promise and an oath.
I love Christmas! It’s that time of the year when spirits are high and people seem to be merrier. Whether by nature or force of the season most people seem to want to go an extra mile to show they care. It’s a nice time of the year, one that sums up all the hard work you have done and leaves a few days to refresh before the new year. Good times. But what I love most about Christmas is the memories it brings, of childhood, of family times, gifts and more importantly, of the reason we celebrate...

Finish Strong, Start Stronger.
One of the things I like about coming to the end of the year is that it puts things in focus for you. You take stock, you ask yourself the hard questions and if you are truthful to yourself, you have an opportunity to make amends before it all comes to an end. Which is why, as I made ready to welcome the month of November, I took a minute to think back on the year, what worked and what didn’t. What successes I had and what mistakes I made. Lessons learnt, opportunities lost and the comebacks...

What have you done for me lately?
I was listening to a song this afternoon that talked about how if Jesus had gone through all that pain and suffering for me to have life, then surely I can endure whatever inconveniences and pain I may face for him. I took a moment to think about that: I tried to remembered all the scriptures I have read about the crucifixion and the movies I have watched that depicts the death of Jesus. Honestly I can say I have not faced half of what Jesus did for me. If he laid down his life for me, surely...

New lessons
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs”. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 NIV I read this verse this morning and it got me thinking, if this is the definition of love then I have got a long way to go. Patience flies out the windows when my kids start fighting or I’m stuck in traffic. Kindness takes a back seat when someone is mean to me. Envy rea...

Irony
"God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth". Matthew 5:5 (NLT)When I read this verse, its seems hard to comprehend: how on earth will the meek inherit the earth when everyone seems to have to fight for something to have it? All our lives we have been told, if you want something you have to raise your hand, shout, somehow get attention else it will pass you by. And while that is true on some occasions, I have also seen that good things does come to people who are...

Turn it around…Again.
As I listened to Glowreeyah Braimah’s song Miracle Worker (feat. Nathaniel Bassey) this morning, my mind went to the first line of the Psalm 126. The words of that verse intertwined with the lyrics of the song and sank deep into my soul. When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion it felt like a dream to them, the God that can change destinies in a second, turned their story around. In a moment, they went from being in captive to being free. What struck me most about the verse was the fa...
