Authentic Living

Truth – a simple concept, yet profound. It presents the daunting task of bringing it all to light, just as it is – bare, unshaded, unblemished, without any cover, an expression of plain reality. As children, we heard it over and over again, the concept repeated to us from the lips of many adults. At school, on the playground, at a friend’s party, everywhere we went – adults told us always to tell the truth, a concept we seemed to struggle with as children. It felt like an ideal worth reaching...

Who is calling the shots here?

One of the Bible verses I read as a younger woman is a quote from the Book of Daniel, the fourth chapter and seventeenth verse: “…God rules in the affairs of men and gives it to whomsoever he will.”  Puzzler! How can God rule in this messed-up world that we live in? How can a just, fair, kind and loving God be in charge of a world with so much injustice? If you aren’t sure of how much we deal with on this earth, turn on the news and you’ll hear about so much pain, greed and devastation t...

’Tis the Season of Joy

Christmas! One of my favorite times of the year. There is just something about this season that makes me smile. I’m not sure if it’s the weather, the colorful decorations all around, or the great lengths to which people go to express love through giving. Whatever the case may be, I love Christmas, and I always will. This season, among others, reminds me of God’s love for me. I have read the nativity story since I was a little girl and have heard the story about the birth of Jesus so many time...

I Pray that...

‘I pray that . . .’A very simple phrase that we often read in many places, like in letters from friends, well wishes greeting cards, posters or wall frames. We see it so often and say it even more often that sometimes we forget what it really means. Throughout the bible, we read verses that start with these words. They are genuine prayers from an apostle to his followers, or from one friend to another. However, of all the ‘I pray that’ verses, this one stands out for me: “Beloved, I pray that...

A prayer to say daily

Kid's Talk - Tips on loosing your first teeth calmly

My son made this video for his cousin, sharing great tips on how to loose her first teeth calmly. I thought other moms and dads going through this experience with their child may want to listen and share with them. When kids talk, kids listen :)

This is just a content summary. Visit my blog for full content, pictures, links and more!

5 Stories You Can Tell In Your Marketing

Gone are the days of aggressive sales copy (or so they should be), Storytelling is the antidote to scare tactics or hyperbole (‘This frying pan will literally save your life in 10 awe-inspiring ways!’). It’s more gentle, yet still powerful — focusing on sharing real-life emotions and connections. Storytelling helps to make your market more emotionally invested in your brand. It creates an identity for your brand and shares this through stories. This basically allows your customers to form a p...

Heightening your instincts to make better decisions.

One song I really like is ‘The Gambler’ by Kenny Rogers: ‘You’ve got to know when to hold ‘em Know when to fold ‘em Know when to walk away Know when to run…’ I’m not sure if I like the song because of the lyrics or the tune. But what I love about the song is its notion of knowing when to act and when not to, like a good cardplayer does. That’s one of the greatest secrets of success in life: timing. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying ‘Timing is everything’, and I’m sure, just like me, you’ve had...

Just living

Should you just stop trying then?  That’s a question we ask when we have come to the end of our strength and are still unable to make headway. What’s the point of trying if you are just going to fail? What’s the point of even trying a little if you fall flat on your face every time? Well, as tempting as it may be to sit back and throw in the towel, it really is not an option. I have learnt that playing a game isn’t always about winning. Sometimes it is the process and what you learn alon...
