And so it was that evangeline went back to rest… For now. Two new vases have entered the kiln!

This shapely vase, titled ‘Make it Work’ is named in honour of Tim Gunn of Project Runway fame and his ever popular and perfectly timed catch phrase, and all those who mentor and support artists. Thank you for many years of laughs and entertainment. Emerging artists need mentors like you, stylish experts like Heidi Klum, and critics who can tell you ‘no bueno’ when you are going in the wrong direction like Nina Garcia. Looking forward to Season 17!

This Vase was a ! Thank you to winner for their name and poem. Congratulations!
Old Soul
For a time I held you
Though you could not be kept.
The rush of your leaving
Left me cracked in ways that cannot
Be seen.
Do not mourn for me, for I
Know what it is to embrace
The deep where the fear of
Desire resides.

On The Wheel Wednesday

When we are in a Valley, the next peak is hard to see and seems so far away.

But remember, it’s those downward turns that help us have a greater appreciation for when things are looking up.

As we journey through this life our highs and lows are interconnected, and how we respond can help level or steepen our path.
2020 has been a bumpy year for most of this, and many people are facing really tough times. For you, I send good energy, love and encouragement. Let’s all love and encourage ourselves and those around us in this difficult season of the pandemic.
Maybe Canadian crooner Tom Cochrane can give you a little boost with some music for the journey.
You can learn more about our work here at the studio and what we are all about in just one minute. Check out our introductory video and subscribe to our youtube channel, which I am hoping to hit 100 subscribers, so I can finally get my own link!

Well . . . it’s certainly different than this!

“It was a lot like working at Hogwarts, except that, instead of receiving letters from our owls, we would find coughed-up owl pellets in our coffee mugs.”
― Stacey O’Brien, Wesley the Owl: The Remarkable Love Story of an Owl and His Girl
The Alchemist’s Studio is proud to now guarantee that our Raku Owls will not cough up owl pellets in your coffee mugs.
and that is a promise we can definitely keep.
*PLEASE NOTE: If it does start doing the above,
we think you may have a larger problem on your hands.

Mugshot Monday

Campaign Finance Reform Never Looked so Sexy
Happy Monday everyone! Soon our American friends will be heading to the polls. To say it has been a strange and unusual election, would be an understatement. I hope that everyone is able to find a way to vote safely during this pandemic, and that cooler heads prevail after the election.

I made this piece ‘Election Box’ before the 2016 election. You will notice that on the left side, where the choices are, there are stock symbols for companies like Monsanto, Haliburton & Walmart instead of candidates. The dollar sign beneath the choices, refers to all the donations these corporations make to both political parties.
The chain running through the mechanisms, lead to the inevitable conclusion that we all lose when influence over public policy is bought and paid for by corporations whose sole purpose for existing is usually self interest and shareholder profit.
In the top right hand corner of the box there are some screws, and above it the word ‘You’re’.

Shipping included in US and Canada
This should be a bipartisan issue for both parties, but both are reaping the rewards. Imagine, if all the money used for campaigning in elections was used to actually help people?
This piece – like most on this site – is for sale for $140, inclusive of shipping. Maybe one of these companies will buy it to destroy it? For them it’s double.
If this piece is a little too square for you, maybe you would like to check out some of our raku pottery vases here.
