How to Refinance a Car:  7 Easy Steps To Save You Money

Knowing how to refinance a car is becoming more important as interest rates continue to rise.

Car owners can get a lower interest rate by refinancing car loans, and saving money.

The purpose of an auto loan refinancing is to replace the current car loan with a new one and, typically, with a different lender to improve the loan agreement. In the new loan, the vehicle acts as collateral, as in the original loan, but the conditions of the loan are different.

You should be familiar with the process of refinancing a car to lower monthly payments, get a reduced interest rate, and modify the total length of the loan.

Benefits of Refinancing a Car

Before discussing the specific steps of refinancing a car loan, let us look at the benefits of auto loan refinancing.

Lower Interest Rate

Your credit may have improved since you first bought your car. However, external conditions can also cause the market interest rate to decrease over time. Therefore, refinancing your car helps you get a lower interest rate.

According to RateGenius, a leading vehicle refinance platform in the U.S., the average interest rate on the original car loan was 14%. In comparison, the rate after refinancing halved down to 7%. That shows that vehicle owners can get a significantly reduced interest rate through refinancing.

Lower Monthly Payments

A lower interest rate means lower monthly payments on the same repayment conditions. You can reduce monthly payments even more by choosing a longer repayment term.

However, keep in mind that a longer repayment term can result in higher charges over the total duration of the loan, so you should consider your monthly budget to make a smart decision.

Pay Off Debt Faster

With a lower interest rate, you’ll have the option to make higher monthly payments. Making higher payments allows you to pay off the debt faster and help grow your net worth. People with less debt tend to lead less stressful lives.

Savings

Studies show that refinancing your car loans can help you save a significant amount of money. The savings from auto refinancing is rising yearly as more people realize its importance over time. RateGenius reports that those who refinanced their car loans saved an average of $1,158 in 2021.

Seven Steps to Refinance a Car Loan

Follow these seven steps to refinance your car.

1. Determine if you should refinance the car loan

First, you must make sure that refinancing a car loan is the right choice for you. Generally, people opt to refinance a loan to get a better rate or when they are struggling to make payments.

Refinancing makes sense if interest rates have fallen since you took out the loan.

Whereas, if you have a limited monthly budget and cannot keep up with the current payment schedule, you should refinance the car loan for a more extended period. The monthly payments will significantly decrease when you extend the repayment term.

2. Examine the Current Loan

When considering refinancing options, you must be familiar with the terms and conditions of the current loan, especially the payoff amount. If the payoff amount is less than the amount the lender will lend, you will not qualify for auto loan refinancing.

Other loan conditions, such as the interest rate, monthly payment, and total cost, also affect the new refinancing conditions.

3. Calculate the Estimated Value of Your Car

Be sure you have a good idea about your car’s worth, along with the cost of the loan. For example, if your car is relatively new and has low mileage, refinancing can save you money and keep you on the right track to repay the entire loan.

However, if the car’s value is less than what you owe, refinancing might not be a good option.

4. Check Your Credit Score

Your financial history and current credit score are important factors for refinancing. If you have been making payments on time and paying the credit card debt, there is a chance that your credit score might have improved since the time you took out the first car loan.

You can get better rates and deals on car loan refinancing with an improved credit score.

5. Consider Your Savings

Once you have checked your credit score and calculated the loan cost, you should determine how much you can save by refinancing a car loan. Make sure you add various charges the lending bank imposes to get an accurate figure.

Some lenders also charge a prepayment penalty that can make refinancing more expensive, so get familiar with the specific terms and conditions.

6. Determine Car Refinancing Options

Explore various refinancing options to get the best deal. Some financial institutions provide discounted interest rates to loyal customers. Compare rates between multiple lenders. You can also apply for preapproval offers at the top three lenders to choose the best option.

However, keep in mind that applying for multiple lenders within a few weeks can negatively affect your credit score.

7. Complete the Formalities

Once you have selected a suitable lender and completed the preapproval, the next step is to complete the documentation and legal formalities. This includes providing proof of income, proof of insurance, and various other documents relevant to the current loan.

You might also be required to submit utility bills, W-2s, insurance cards, and other documents. Generally, preparing and organizing the paperwork in advance is a good idea so you can get through this step quickly and efficiently.

Carefully read the terms and conditions of the agreement before signing it. Check the fine print of the agreements, including the car refinancing contract, to ensure you know what you are getting yourself into.

Closing Thoughts

After completing all of the formalities related to refinancing a car loan and signing the agreement with your chosen lender, you still have to keep track of your credit score, interest rate, and monthly payments.

Experts recommend setting up automatic payments to ensure you are paying monthly payments on time. This way, you will be consistent and not let delayed payments negatively impact your credit score. In addition, it becomes even easier to set up automatic payments if you have a checking account and a refinanced car loan in the same bank or financial institution.

Overall, refinancing a car loan is an essential process through which you can save a significant amount of money.

What Are Electrolytes & How Does Hydration Affect Your Mental Health?

what are electrolytes

Did you know that dehydration can have a significant impact on your mental health? Research has shown a clear link between dehydration and mood swings, irritability, and even anxiety and depression.

Drinking enough water and maintaining proper hydration is essential for keeping your mental health in tip-top shape or helping your mood if you’re already struggling. Your brain is composed of 75% water, so it only makes sense that being adequately hydrated is key to optimal brain function.

But what exactly are electrolytes, and how do they play a role in all of this? This article will explore electrolytes and their role in hydration and mental health.

What Are Electrolytes?

Electrolytes are minerals in your blood and other bodily fluids that carry an electrical charge. They are essential for many processes in the body, including:

Maintaining proper hydrationRegulating blood pressureSupporting nerve functionAiding in muscle contractionHelping to balance acidity and pH levels in the body

The four main electrolytes are sodium, potassium, chloride, and magnesium. You get these electrolytes from the foods and fluids you eat.

How Do Electrolytes Affect Hydration?what are electrolytes

In terms of hydration, electrolytes play a critical role in directing water and nutrients to the areas of the body where they’re needed most while also maintaining optimal fluid balance inside the cells. In other words, electrolytes help the body better absorb and retain water and regulate fluid levels within the cells.

Electrolytes push water into the cells; if you only drink purified water and do not eat a diet rich in whole foods, you may be dehydrated. You can take an additional electrolyte supplement to help keep you hydrated!

If you suffer from digestive issues that can cause diarrhea, constipation, etc., you are likely dehydrated if you aren’t taking an electrolyte supplement.

Proper hydration is also essential for keeping your electrolytes in balance. When you are dehydrated, your body’s fluids (including blood) become more concentrated, and your electrolyte levels increase. And when you’re overhydrated, your body’s fluids dilute, and your electrolyte levels decrease.

Either way, an imbalance in electrolytes can seriously affect your health. For example, dehydration can lead to heat stroke, while overhydration can cause water intoxication. So, you’re better off drinking the right amount of fluids to stay hydrated. More on this later in this post.

How Does Hydration Affect Fatigue, Anxiety, and Overall Mental Health?Fatigue

One of the most common symptoms of dehydration is fatigue. When dehydrated, your body doesn’t have enough fluids to perform its functions properly. This can lead to exhaustion and make it difficult to concentrate or stay awake.

Also, when you’re dehydrated, your blood volume decreases. As a result, the heart will work harder to pump blood throughout your body, leading to fatigue.

If you’re struggling with fatigue, ensure you drink enough water throughout the day. You might also want to reduce diuretics like caffeine and alcohol, which can dehydrate you.

Anxiety

Dehydration can also cause anxiety. When you’re dehydrated, your body goes into what’s known as “fight or flight” mode. This is the body’s natural response to stress and can cause various symptoms, including anxiety, racing heart, and sweating.

If you’re dehydrated, drink plenty of fluids and rehydrate as soon as possible. Drinking water or electrolyte-rich beverages can help to replenish the fluids and minerals your body needs. You should also not wait until you’re thirsty to drink fluids, as thirst is a sign that you’re already dehydrated.

You may also want to consider adding a magnesium supplement to your routine, as magnesium is helpful for anxiety. This mineral is widely known to help reduce anxiety, mood swings, and stress symptoms, which has earned it the nicknames “the original chill pill” and “nature’s Valium.”

Dehydration can also affect your overall mental health, which includes your emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Without adequate water, the brain won’t have enough fluids to function correctly, leading to problems with concentration, memory, and decision-making.

One study found mild dehydration can cause attention, memory, and motor skills problems. The study participants also had higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

Dehydration can also worsen symptoms of mental health conditions like anxiety and depression. If you or anyone you know is struggling with mental health, ensure they’re staying hydrated. That’s a simple remedy that can help to improve symptoms.

Tips for Staying HydratedDrink plenty of fluids throughout the day. Aim for eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day.Drink more when sweating, such as during exercise or in hot weather.Drink before, during, and after exercise.Avoid diuretics like caffeine and alcohol, which can dehydrate you.Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink fluids. Thirst is a sign that you’re already dehydrated.Add a magnesium supplement to your routine, as magnesium is helpful for anxiety.Eat foods rich in minerals such as Himalayan salt How Much Water Should I Drink?

The amount of water you need to drink varies depending on several factors, including your age, activity level, and climate. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children and teens drink at least six to eight cups of water per day.

For adults, the Institute of Medicine recommends women drink at least nine cups of water per day, and men drink at least 13 cups. These recommendations may need to be increased in hot weather or during periods of intense exercise.

Pay attention to your urine color if you’re not sure you’re drinking enough water. If it’s pale yellow or clear, you’re well-hydrated. You need to drink more fluids if it’s dark yellow or orange.

You should also be aware of the signs and symptoms of dehydration, which include:

ThirstDry mouthFatigue or tirednessHeadacheConstipationDizziness

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, drink fluids immediately and seek medical attention if the symptoms are severe. Dehydration can be dangerous, especially for young children and older adults.

Bottom Line

Electrolytes are minerals that play an important role in hydration and keeping the body functioning correctly. Dehydration can cause fatigue, headaches, anxiety, and depression.

To stay hydrated, drink at least eight glasses of water per day (for adults) or more if you’re sweating or in hot weather. Also, remember not to overhydrate, as this can be dangerous. And talk to your doctor if you’re struggling to stay hydrated or if you have any concerns about your electrolyte levels.

How to Love Yourself & Others the Right Way: From a Therapist

how to love yourself

High self-esteem is related to success, healthy relationships, and overall life satisfaction. Low self-esteem can contribute to depression, anxiety, substance use & substance abuse, and suicidal thoughts. Learning how to love yourself can help you develop stronger self-esteem and a more positive outlook. To clarify, this does not mean being in love with yourself and not caring about others, but balancing loving yourself and who you are meant to be.

How to Start Loving Yourself

You can do many things to love yourself, such as understanding compassion. Compassion is when you extend sympathy and concern for the sufferings of others. Here is a list of ways to love yourself in a non-narcissistic way.

1. Show Self-Compassion

If you can’t extend compassion toward yourself, it will be challenging to extend it to others. If you are a people pleaser, you may easily extend compassion to others but not yourself. This can be related to unhealthy boundaries that are too firm or not strong enough.

Cutting yourself slack when you mess up is a great way to love yourself since we are all humans.

2. Set Boundaries

As stated in the book “Boundaries” by Dr. Cloud and Dr. Townsend, boundaries guide understanding where you end and another person begins. In a physical sense, this is clearer, but it may not be as apparent in a mental aspect.

Understanding boundaries is a way to communicate your needs and not feel guilty about them, but it also helps you be kind and respectful towards others. There is a saying, “you teach people how to treat you,” which is very accurate and is done in the way we set boundaries or lack thereof. This can be very important when you are dating to have a healthy marriage.

3. Use Positive Self Talk

This may sound cliche but what you tell yourself effects your perspective of yourself and the world. Using affirmations to describe yourself and give yourself credit for your effort rather than your accomplishments can help you be more confident and it is a great way to love yourself.

Start a small list of good things about you, I find it helpful to describe how God, a close friend or someone that cares about you would talk about you. Write this list down and tell yourself them on at least a weekly basis.

4. Meditate

Meditation can be a great start on your journey of figuring out how to love yourself. Mindfulness meditations, guided imagery, tapping and more can be really helpful for filling up your cup.

Guided meditation apps can help you understand how to get started meditating and it can help you learn about forgiveness, compassion, stress management and more.

5. Art

Find a form of art that is therapeutic for you it could be singing, drawing, coloring, painting, making ceramics or clay. Figuring out a form of creativity that helps you feel loved and focused on the moment can help you determine how to love yourself best.

Figuring out why you hate yourself can be helpful in understanding how to forgive yourself. This is something we can discuss in my mental health coaching. Understanding misconceptions about forgiveness is an important part to understanding how to love yourself and forgive yourself. Self-hatred, negative self-talk and a lack of love and compassion for yourself can contribute greatly to depression.

Extend the love and compassion to yourself that you would hope others would to you if you were struggling.

How to Love Others

If you are a people pleaser you may feel like you love on others easily but not towards yourself. As mentioned above setting boundaries is an important aspect of loving yourself and others. Having self-compassion and compassion for others and extending empathy towards them.

Active listening is a great way to show others that you hear them, care about what they have to say and are trying to understand them.

In Summary

Self love does not mean narcissism or not caring about others. It is appreciating who you are, focusing on who you are meant to be, taking care of your basic needs and truly enjoying life.

What Are Cognitive Distortions & How Do They Shape Our World?

The human brain is an incredible organ. Not only does it allow us to think and reason, but it also houses our memories and emotions. It’s responsible for everything we do, say, and feel. And yet, even though the brain is so powerful, it’s often swayed by inaccurate thoughts and beliefs.

These inaccurate thoughts are known as cognitive distortions and can cause us to see the world in a distorted or inaccurate way. For example, someone with cognitive distortion might believe that everyone is out to get them when there is no evidence to support this belief.

There’s more to explore about cognitive distortions, so let’s take a closer look at what they are, how they influence us, and some examples of each type.

What Are Cognitive Distortions?

Cognitive distortions are inaccurate and unhelpful thoughts that we believe to be true.

These thoughts can come from our minds or outside sources, such as the media and things we have convinced ourselves to be true and aren’t 100% factual.

Cognitive distortions usually arise when we’re under stress. When we’re anxious or overwhelmed, our brain looks for ways to simplify things, resulting in snap judgments or making us see things in black-and-white terms.

Cognitive distortions can also be the result of our own biases. We all have certain beliefs and preferences that influence how we see the world. For example, if you’re a fan of a particular sports team, you might see other teams as inferior.

These biases can lead to cognitive distortions because we filter information through our lens. We might only see evidence that supports our beliefs and ignore anything that goes against them.

The Relationship Between Cognitive Distortions and CBT

Cognitive distortions are often discussed in the context of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is a therapy developed by Aaron Beck and Albert Ellis, that focuses on changing negative thinking patterns, inaccurate thoughts, and beliefs. By doing so, CBT can help people see the world more accurately and positively.

If we can recognize and change our cognitive distortions, we can also change our behavior. For example, if you’re prone to black-and-white thinking, you might avoid making plans with friends because you’re afraid they’ll cancel on you.

However, if you can learn to see things in shades of gray, you might be more likely to make plans and have a better social life. This is one of the ways CBT can help resolve cognitive inaccuracies.

The Negative Impact of Cognitive Distortions

Cognitive distortions, when unchecked, can cause issues.

First, they can lead to anxiety and depression. When we believe things that aren’t true, it can cause us a lot of stress. We might worry about things that aren’t worth worrying about or beat ourselves up over things we can’t control.

Cognitive distortions can also damage our relationships. If we constantly see the people in our lives in a negative light, it will cause problems. We might argue with them more often or have a harder time trusting them.

Finally, cognitive distortions can hold us back in life. If we believe we’re not good enough or can’t do something, it will be hard to reach our goals. We might not even try because of a lack of self-belief.

Types of Cognitive DistortionsBlack-and-white Thinking

Black-and-white thinking is when we see things in the extreme. Everything is either good or bad, right or wrong, perfect or a failure. There is no middle ground.

This thinking can lead to problems because life isn’t always so black and white. People are complex, and situations are often nuanced. We’re not giving ourselves the full picture by only seeing things in extremes.

Examples of black-and-white thinking:

“I can’t believe I failed that test. I’m such a loser.”

“She’s always late. She must not care about me.”

“I’m not perfect, so I might as well give up.”

Overgeneralization

Overgeneralization is when we take one specific event and assume that it will always happen. We might see a single instance of something as proof that everything will always be that way.

This thinking is not based on reality and can lead to problems. Just because something happened once doesn’t mean it will always happen.

Examples of overgeneralization:

“I can’t believe she said that to me. All my friends must hate me.”

“I didn’t get the job. I’ll never be able to find a good job.”

“I got a B on that test. I’m such a terrible student.”

Mind Reading

Mind reading is when we assume we know what other people think. We might think that we can read their minds or that they should be able to read ours.

This thought pattern is inaccurate because we can’t know what someone else is thinking. We might make assumptions about why they did something, but we don’t know the truth. This cognitive distortion can cause misunderstandings and hurt feelings.

Examples of mind reading:

“She didn’t call me back; she must be mad at me.”

“He didn’t invite me to his party because he thinks less of me.”

“They’re always talking about me behind my back; I must be so annoying.”

Filtering

Filtering is when we focus on the negative and filter out the positive. We might see all the bad things and ignore the good.

This thinking can be harmful because it creates a distorted view of reality. We’re not seeing the whole picture when we only focus on the negative.

Examples of filtering:

“I got an A on my test, but I missed one question, so it’s not good enough.”

“I had a great day, but that one thing went wrong, so it was terrible.”

“I’m not happy with my body, no matter what I do.”

Jumping to Conclusions

Jumping to conclusions is when we make assumptions about things without any evidence. We might think that we know what’s going to happen or what someone is thinking without proof.

This thinking can cause problems because we’re basing our beliefs on nothing. We might get upset about something that doesn’t even exist.

Examples of jumping to conclusions:

“She’s not talking to me because I forgot to wish her well on her birthday.”

“My teacher doesn’t want the best for me.”

Control Fallacy

The control fallacy is when we believe that we can control everything. We might think we can control other people, the future, or even our emotions.

This type of thinking isn’t accurate because we can’t control everything. People have free will, and many things are out of our control.

Examples of the control fallacy:

“I can’t believe she did that; I should have stopped her.”

“I’m so mad at him; he should have known better.”

“I can’t believe this happened; why didn’t I prevent it.?”

Other Examples of Cognitive DistortionsCatastrophizingFortune TellingMagnifying or Minimizing the NegativeEmotional ReasoningPersonalization and Blaming“Should” StatementsLabeling and MislabelingSelf-Fulfilling PropheciesConclusion

Cognitive distortions are harmful because they cause us to see things distortedly. This can lead to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, etc. If you think you might be experiencing cognitive distortions, talk to a mental health professional for help.

Your doctor may recommend therapy, medication, or other treatments. With the right help, you can learn to recognize and challenge your cognitive distortions, leading to a more positive outlook on life and improved mental health.

27 Exhilarating Reasons to Live: When It Seems Impossible

reasons to live

It is easy to get caught up in the busyness and lifelong pursuit of career and success that we forget to live life to the fullest. For most people, life is about social expectations – going to school, getting a job, growing through the ranks, paying bills, getting married, and raising kids.

This monotonous lifestyle leaves little room for one to explore themselves and the pleasures of living. Life is meant to be experienced; it shouldn’t be a long stressful journey; it should be an enjoyable ride.

However, challenging yourself to do something simple but fun every day can change your perspective dramatically and give you more reasons to live a long and prosperous life!

Get Help

If you are having, have, or know someone who has suffered from suicidal thoughts, self-harm, feelings of hopelessness or has attempted suicide previously, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the national suicide prevention hotline.

Speaking to a mental health professional can help you learn healthier coping skills that can help you see the many reasons to live. Immediate crisis intervention is vital if someone talks about harming themselves.

Suicide Statistics

According to the CDC, a life is lost every 11 minutes from death by suicide. That statistic shows that over 1.2 million American adults attempted suicide, and suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death in children 10-14 and young adults 25-34 years old.

These statistics show the importance of taking care of our mental health, dealing with our emotional pain, and increased advocacy to break the mental health stigma is essential.

High levels of substance use and abuse in teenagers contribute to increased suicide risks. Over 2.08 million teenagers reported using drugs within the last month, and 11.2% of overdoses are in individuals ages 15-24.

Substances are presented in a way that is very appealing to adolescents, teenagers, and young adults. Substance abuse could be decreased if these young minds were not influenced to believe that getting drunk or being high is such a “cool” thing. When younger, vulnerable minds become addicted to substances it makes it much harder to stop later in life.

At-Risk Individuals

Individuals who suffer from certain mental disorders have an increased risk for suicide.

Individuals expressing feelings of hopelessnessDepressionFrequent substance abuseBipolar (15x the risk of the general population)Traumatic ChildhoodPosttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Warning Signs of SuicideSelf-cutting/self-harmDistressWithdrawal Overdosing/ resorting to using pillsExpressing “wanting to die”Increased risky behaviorFocus on death and dying Reasons to Live1. Time Flies

If there’s one thing we should all know, time waits for no one. Today you’re young, and tomorrow the grey hairs will begin to appear. So, enjoy your youth or any stage of life you find yourself in.

Being mindful and present can help you focus on the time that you do have to enjoy. Also, ask yourself “what is the most important thing in my life right now?”

2. You Only Get One Life

There are no do-overs in life, so you have to make the most of your time, and you don’t know when that time will come. So, don’t wait until you’re in your 30s or 40s to do something you love; like Nike, just do it.

3. Avoid Regrets Later in Life

You don’t want to grow old and regret not living life to the fullest; it’s a sad, sad experience. You can’t travel back in time to make up for the lost time, so why not make those memories now? Connect with old friends, hang out, have fun, and go on adventures. Live!!

4. Money

Money comes and goes but it can be replaced, it can be invested and grow and you can always make more of it. If you find that you are in a tough financial situation start by writing out your budget and see if you could make any adjustments to focus more on some of the areas that are most important to you.

Find ways to save money and make extra money as well to help you take your focus away from financial stress.

Are your habits currently helping you get towards your financial goals or could you tweak them short-term to help you out long-term?

Money can allow you to try new things, travel, and explore and it is a reward for the hard work you put in. This can help increase your dopamine if you create financial goals around your passions and you work towards a small vacation or pay off debt.

Creating a written plan and checking it off can increase your dopamine by making you feel accomplished and motivating you to want to accomplish more of these goals. Use a financial planner or budget to help you see how you are working towards your goals. When it is written it is much easier to see the progress you’ve made and give yourself credit.

When you live life to the fullest, happiness is the result. You will love your life more and enjoy every day!

You won’t experience true happiness when you’re in the rat race; it comes when you let yourself enjoy the things that add meaning and purpose to your life. Examples? See nature, go on vacations, try new fun activities, move to a new city, discover new cultures, foods, etc.

Happiness comes from within and there are natural ways to increase your happiness neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine. Improving your overall confidence in yourself can be very helpful in helping you feel happier.

Work on liking who you are and being your biggest cheerleader, this will help you base your happiness on yourself rather than others.

6. Life is Not a Competition

So, please don’t make it one! Don’t let your happiness be determined by your position compared to the next person’s. That mindset only attracts stress and anxiety, and depression. Focus on your lane, do what makes you happy, and move at your pace.

You are your own person and the only person you should compare yourself to is yourself. Ask yourself if you are where you want to be in life, don’t judge yourself but create a game plan. Figure out how you can work towards your goals, without focusing on your past mistakes.

7. Reduce Stress and Depression

Here’s another crucial reason to live life to the fullest, your health! People who get overwhelmed by the worries of this life usually push themselves more than they should. Like I said earlier, life is not a competition, and your job or career shouldn’t sum up your life. There’s more to life; explore it!

Stress and anxiety often occur from a wish for the current situation to be different than it currently is. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy teaches us to focus on appreciating everything in the present and changing our opinions.

8. You Will Meet Others Like You

As you live your life determined to enjoy every bit of it, you will meet like-minds who resonate with you. You’re not alone in this journey. You’re not the only one living life to the fullest.

Find a community that you can relate to, either in person or online you can find individuals who like the same things you do. If you are struggling with grief, find a grief group that can relate to what you are going through and can express their feelings, memories, and experiences.

On a more positive note, you can find groups that enjoy video games, working out, blogging, traveling, cooking, art, music, etc. Finding your community can be very important to make you boost your confidence and help you relate to others. Likeminded people can help you stay focused on the goals you have and help you find the desire to pursue what you want.

9. Make Wonderful Memories

One of the best things about living your best life is making lovely memories. You can always recall these memories and relive the fun. And when you’re old, instead of regretting what you never did, you’d be proud of a life well-lived.

Every day is a new day to make new memories and try new things.

Pro tip: challenge yourself to try something new every week. Try a new restaurant, workout, movie theater, bike trail, book, etc.

10. Build Strong Relationships

Living life to the fullest also means meeting people and building relationships. Relationships are crucial for many things, including happiness and fulfillment. So, don’t be shy to make friends; life is sweeter with people who care about you.

Spend time with your loved ones and focus on the strengths they bring to your life.

11. Achieve Your Dreams

Some people push their dreams aside to do the norm or what society expects of them, and that’s no way to live. Your dreams are valid, and when you decide to live without fear, your dreams will begin to find expression and come to fruition.

Write out your goals and make a short-term list that adds up to your long-term goals. Actually writing it down and checking it off helps you see that you are achieving your dreams rather than trying to remember all that you have done.

I use a planner to write out my day and my week, and I weekly write out my goals for the week that will help me increase my healthy habits and work towards my financial and health goals. At the end of the week, I write what I accomplished and what else I can improve and this helps me see how my behaviors impact my progress.

12. Overcome Fear

Some people are terrified about letting themselves free to live life on their terms, explore opportunities, or change the course of their lives. Sometimes, it’s the fear of the unknown, and while it’s normal to be scared, know that fear never goes away. People who decide to live life to the fullest don’t do it in the absence of fear; they’re very much aware it’s there and do it anyway.

Fear is meant to protect our minds and bodies from going into harmful situations. However, we oftentimes have a difficult time trying new things and we tend to stay in our comfort zones and anything outside of that can be too scary.

Exposure therapy is something you can work on with your therapist to help you overcome those fears that keep you from pursuing your dreams.

13. You Have a Gift/Talent

Your talent makes you unique and brings out your best, true self. And the beautiful thing is that you can use your gifts to make other people happy. You may be a fantastic singer, dancer, or comedian, but whatever it is, that’s a reason to live life to the fullest.

And no, you don’t have to turn every talent into a career; that’s what society often dictates. Allow yourself to enjoy the feeling of doing something helpful to others. Sharing your talents with others is a great reason to live and make the world a better place, once you have worked on making yourself better and you can share that with others.

Art and music therapy are both used to help individuals overcome anxiety and depression. Pick up a paintbrush, instrument, skateboard, or sing a song, even if you think you will not be good, try it.

Figure out what it is that makes you happy, allows you to be creative, and share that with others.

14. The World Awaits

History is replete with tales of inventions, discoveries, adventures, and advancements. Most of them were not orthodox at the time, and most were deviant from unwritten social rules, but today we celebrate them.

Living life to the fullest opens you up to life’s possibilities. You don’t have to limit yourself, and you don’t have to follow the norms. Your geeky, weird, or nerdy ideas may be widely accepted tomorrow.

15. Inspire Others

People who aren’t so focused on making a living but making a life are huge inspirations to others. That’s because they’ve unlocked a part of themselves most people haven’t. You can inspire others if you choose to live life to the fullest.

16. Nothing Is Stopping You

Finally, nothing can stop you from making your life fun, meaningful, and enjoyable. You’re the only one who can do that, and you do it through your actions or inactions.

You have choices every day and you can choose to let the hardships pull you down or you can focus on pursuing your dreams and believing in yourself.

Are you feeling down and out? Dejected and distressed with no hope or motivation to keep on living? Are you having suicidal thoughts and certain that there’s nothing left for you in this life? You’re not alone; there are others like you and many more who have survived and now live a beautiful, meaningful life. That could be your story too!

While it’s easy to say that everything will be fine, we know that may do little to help your condition. And that’s why we’ve pieced together more convincing reasons to live. You will find each one helpful and relatable; we also share how to find meaning and happiness in your life.

17. It is Not Over Yet

Life can be overwhelming, emotions can run wild, and people can be overbearing. When you feel helpless or hopeless, know that it is not a permanent condition and it is merely a phase that will pass with time. Whatever you lost can be recovered, and you can find success where you failed. It is not over.

18. You Are Not Your Mistakes

Everyone makes mistakes; everyone hurts the people who love them. When you do, don’t feel as though you’re the worst person on earth or your loved ones are better off without you. Don’t let your mistakes define you; learn to move on from them and focus on doing better.

19. Things You Care About

Sometimes bringing up the people who care about you may not mean much, but how about those things you care about? Your furry pet, the social justice movement, or helping younger people achieve their dreams. Whatever it is, it’s a perfect reason to live.

20. Your Hopes and Dreams

As long as you’re alive, there is hope, and your dreams are achievable. Life is a marathon, not a sprint, and you will realize your goals with time. Let the joy of finally succeeding give you a reason to live and keep going. And at that time, you will look back on the journey with gratitude that you stuck it out.

21. You Will Find Your Purpose

Not everyone discovers themselves early, and not everyone knows their deal until later in life. Be patient with yourself, and you will find meaning in your life. When you add the general life principle of seeking, you will eventually find your purpose. Be patient with yourself.

22. Time Makes it Better

If you’ve experienced trauma, pain, rejection, or any event that has left you debating your existence, time will help. Time will not erase what happened, and you will still have the memories, but it will reduce the pain. You will also learn to manage your feelings better, so don’t give in to any negative thoughts of self-harm.

23. The solution is Usually Inconceivable in Distress

Usually, when we’re in distress, we tend to focus on the problem. It’s difficult to think up solutions or find one. At such times, suicidal thoughts and other negative inclinations may pop up.

It is completely normal because you’re trying to avoid pain, to end it. But, don’t do it! There may be solutions you aren’t seeing now because your mind is clouded and your spirit is broken. When the phase is over, you will see things more clearly.

24. You’re Not Alone

You have a family, friends, and people who care about your well-being. Sometimes, it may feel like they don’t, but that might be because you haven’t shared your issues with them. They can help if you give them a chance.

If you have nobody like that, there are lovely people at the National Suicide Prevention center who are willing to talk to you. Call them at 800-273-8255.

25. You Are Important

Read these words carefully – You Matter. Again – You Are Important. Don’t let anyone or anything make you feel otherwise. You are beautiful, intelligent, and awesome! Make these affirmations and own them because they will always be true. And guess what? The world needs a special person like you. And that leads to the next point.

26. The World Needs You

You are talented and gifted and have unique abilities. You are one of a kind, and you fill a void on this earth no one else can fill. However small or insignificant you think your gifts are, the world needs them. We need to hear your voice; we need you here with us. The world is much better with you in it.

27. You Determine the Future

If you need a reason to live, how about this – you can create your future! It doesn’t matter how bad things are now; your decisions today will change the future. You can turn things around for good and make a better life. And it’s not difficult; you are the painter, the sculptor, now do your thing! Create!

How to Find Meaning in Your Life

To reinforce the reasons to live discussed earlier, let’s now see how to find meaning in your life. When you find meaning, life becomes more enjoyable and fulfilling. Use the following pointers.

Convert Your Pain to Purpose

This is one of the best ways to find meaning in your life. If you struggled with something and became better, you can become an inspiration to others experiencing the same thing. For instance, you could find meaning by becoming a mental health coach if you had mental health issues and overcame them.

We do not grow without struggles and we can become more resilient by struggling and figuring out how to deal with those struggles. These difficulties may be challenging but know they are not for forever and they can and will get better.

Explore Your Passions

Life is meaningful when you do the things that make you happy and fulfilled. Your interests and passions are a good place to start. Explore those things you like, and see how you can make something of it. For instance, if you’re passionate about helping young people, you can start an intervention program for that demographic.

Move With People Who Inspire You

The more time you spend with great people, and like minds, the more you come into your own. You will find inspiration, help, support, and challenge yourself to do better. That is opposed to hanging with people who don’t add much value to your life.

Other ways to find meaning in life include:

Join a causeDefine your priorities Develop a visionMake a plan to achieve your visionMental Hacks You Must Know You can not control how other people feel , so do not blame yourself if those around you make poor decisions and say that you made them feel a certain way. Use grounding techniques and focus on the present, this is super helpful in drowning out the noise around you. Thoughts are NOT facts. Thoughts can come and go across your mind but they do not define you and they are not factual just because they appear.Taking care of yourself is important. Exercising, sleeping, meditating, eating a nutrient-dense diet, and setting boundaries in your life can do wonders. Your happiness is based on your perspective. It is not based on how your partner makes you feel or your boss’s opinion, but only yours. If you focus on how important your opinion of yourself is then negative statements will not feel so impactful.Treatments

Research shows that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy helped veterans decrease the number of suicide events and the amount of suicide attempts. (Interian et al., 2021)

Mindfulness-based stress reduction also helped veterans suffering from PTSD and sexual assault victims cope with the traumas they experienced. Individuals who experience this type of trauma are prone to higher suicide rates.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy has been used to help families minimize the risks of teens reattempting suicide. Through Safe Alternatives for Teens and Youths (SAFETY) treatments include a dialectical behavioral informed-family treatment and cognitive-behavioral therapy. (Asarnow et al., 2017)

Closing Thoughts

Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed, not endured. Don’t get caught up in the rat race and competitions that stifle people’s happiness; instead, choose to be different. Choose to live your life to the fullest and make every day count. You will love your life and appreciate life more. There are many reasons to keep going, despite hardship. Without struggles we would not have room to grow, this creates resilience and it is a valuable skill we can learn.

Identify Problems Related to Excessive Thinking

Excessive Thinking

In our fast-paced, constantly-connected world, it’s easy to get caught up in the habit of overthinking. We can overthink everything from what we wear to what we’re going to say in a meeting. And while there’s nothing wrong with being prepared, overthinking can lead to anxiety and even paralysis.

Another problem with overthinking is that it often leads us to focus on the negative. We worry about what could go wrong instead of what could go right. We dwell on our fears and doubts instead of staying positive and optimistic. As a result, overthinking can rob us of our joy and peace of mind.

The good news is that we can learn to control our thoughts and not let overthinking ruin our lives. If you’re ready to break the overthinking habit, these tips can help you get started.

What is Excessive Thinking?

Excessive thinking is pretty much what it sounds like: thinking too much about something, good or bad, to the point where it interferes with your daily life.

For some people, overthinking is a habitual way of processing information. Others may only overthink when they are focusing on a negative experience to try and understand it better.

Unfortunately, ruminating excessively on an issue or situation can lead to stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental and physical health problems.

When stressed, our bodies go into “fight-or-flight” mode, which means our heart rate and blood pressure increase, and we breathe more quickly. These reactions are all part of the stress response, a natural mechanism our bodies use to protect us from danger.

However, sometimes we can get stuck in the stress response, especially when we’re exposed to stressors or if we’re worrying about things that might happen in the future. When this happens, it’s called “overthinking.”

Why Do People Excessively Think?

Everyone excessively thinks for different reasons. Perhaps you’re worried about something specific or are trying to get more control over your life. Maybe you’re afraid of making mistakes because you’re a perfectionist. Or you’ve been hurt in the past, and now you’re overthinking things to protect yourself.

We live in a society that is constantly bombarding us with information. This stimulus can make it difficult to focus on one thing at a time, making us feel overwhelmed.

Additionally, we are taught to think critically and to question everything. While this is generally a good thing, it can also lead us to overthink things that don’t warrant it. We must find the right balance between overthinking and not thinking things through enough.

Excessive thinking can also happen because people are bored or they have too much time on their hands. They might start thinking about all the things that could go wrong in their life or everything they need to do.

Sometimes, overthinking is just a habit. People might do it without even realizing it.

Yes, excessive thinking can affect your mental and physical health. When you overthink, you are essentially putting your body under stress, leading to many health problems ranging from insomnia to cardiovascular disease.

For example, one study found that people who ruminate (i.e., overthink) a lot are more likely to develop gastrointestinal problems because chronic stress can lead to inflammation in the gut. Evidence also suggests that overthinking can weaken your immune system because your body releases cortisol when you’re constantly stressed, meaning you’re more likely to get sick.

Overthinking can also lead to increased levels of anxiety and depression. When someone overthinks, they tend to worry about things that might not even happen, which can cause them to feel stressed and anxious all the time. It can be exhausting to feel like your brain is constantly working overtime and won’t shut off. It can also lead us to make bad decisions, as we are not thinking clearly when we are anxious.

Depression is common in overthinkers because they believe they are not good enough or will never be happy. You might worry that people are judging you and you’re not measuring up. This constant self-doubt can lead to indecision and inaction, which can be disastrous in fast-paced situations requiring quick thinking and decisive action.

If you constantly doubt your decisions, you’ll never have the confidence to move forward.

Signs You’re An Excessive Thinker

You likely occasionally worry about things you can’t control, such as your job, your finances, or your relationships. But it’s probably not a problem if you can control how much you worry and it doesn’t interfere with your ability to function.

However, if you find yourself constantly worrying about what could go wrong or spending hours overanalyzing every decision you make, you’re likely an overthinker.

You might also recognize some of these signs:

You have a hard time making decisions, even simple ones. You overanalyze every situation and try to anticipate every possible outcome. You dwell on past mistakes and regrets. You doubt your abilities and question whether you’re good enough. You’re afraid of making mistakes or failing. You’re always second-guessing yourself. You’re indecisive and tend to procrastinate. You’re constantly worried and anxious.

If you’re an overthinker, know that you’re not alone. Many people struggle with this tendency. But there are ways to manage it and even overcome it.

How To Stop Excessively Thinking: 18 Simple Coping Strategies to Try

Excessive thinking can be difficult to break, but it is possible. There are many different coping strategies, but what works for one person may not work for another.

Some people may need professional help to deal with their overthinking, but there are also many things that someone can do to help themselves. Experimenting with different techniques will help you find what works best for you.

So how can you stop overthinking and start living? Here are a few ways to cope and let go of the need to control everything.

1. Acknowledge that you’re overthinking

The first step to stopping excessive thinking is acknowledging that you’re doing it. While this can be difficult because it often happens automatically, it is important to catch yourself when you start dwelling on something.

Take a step back and observe your thoughts. What is running through your mind? What are you worrying about? Once you’ve identified the source of your overthinking, you can start to address it.

2. Identify the triggers that cause you to think excessively

What situations, people, or events tend to lead you to overthink? For example, is it being in a crowded place, or is it something that someone says to you? Knowing your triggers can help you be more aware and try to avoid them.

3. Challenge your thoughts

The next step is to challenge your thoughts to see them more realistically. Asking yourself these questions can help you to see your thoughts in a different light and start to let go of the ones that aren’t serving you:

Are your thoughts based on fact or opinion? Are they helpful or harmful? Are they realistic or unrealistic? Are there other ways to look at the situation? Are you overreacting?

Try to examine your thoughts objectively. Are they as bad as you’re making them out to be?

If not, try to replace your negative thoughts with more positive, realistic, and helpful ones.

4. Let go of perfectionism

One of the main reasons people overthink is because they try to control everything or strive for perfection. They want to make sure everything is perfect. But the truth is, you can’t control everything. So, let go of the need to control and accept that some things are out of your hands. Good enough is usually good enough!

5. Gather your information

If you’re overthinking because you’re unsure about a decision you have to make, try to gather as much information as possible. Once you have all the facts, you can weigh the pros and cons of each option and make a more informed decision.

6. Brainstorm the possible outcomes

Another way to stop overthinking when you’re anxious about an upcoming event is to start by brainstorming some possible outcomes. What is the worst that could happen? And how likely is it to happen? The worst-case scenario is not as likely to occur as you think.

Question whether the outcome is likely and if it did happen. How would it impact you years from now?

7. Break choices down into smaller steps

Rather than obsessing over the “right” choice, focus on what the next step should be. Doing so can help you take action and progress rather than remain undecided.

8. Focus on the present moment

Don’t focus on what has happened in the past or what might happen in the future. Instead, focus on the here and now. Remember that the past is gone, and the future is not guaranteed. If you can focus on the present, you will be less likely to overthink things. It is the only thing you can control.

9. Take action

Take action and make some changes in your life to reduce the amount of overthinking you do.

For example, you might need to simplify your life and schedule some time for relaxation and self-care. You might also need to change how you think about and deal with difficult situations.

Whatever action you take, the important thing is to keep moving forward and not get bogged down in negative thinking.

10. Step away from the situation

If you can, remove yourself from the situation. While this can be difficult to do if you’re overthinking a decision you have to make, it can be helpful to take a break from it and come back with fresh eyes. Sometimes, all it takes is a little distance to see things more clearly.

11. Take regular breaks

On that same note, take breaks throughout your day. It can help you clear your head and return with a fresh perspective.

12. Distract yourself

When you start to overthink, try to distract yourself with something else. Go for a walk, read a book, or call a friend. Doing something that takes your mind off whatever you’re overthinking can help break the cycle.

Play a game on your phone or do a grounding technique to help bring you joy and distract you from your thoughts.

13. Keep busy

Another helpful tip is to keep busy. When overthinking something, it’s usually because we’re allowing our minds to wander and dwell on the problem. Keeping our minds occupied with other things can help to stop this.

14. Find ways to relax

You’ll never be able to enjoy your life if you constantly worry about every little thing. Try to relax and take things one step at a time.

Some people find that yoga or meditation helps them relax and focus on the present moment. Others find that listening to calm music or nature sounds helps reduce anxiety. Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing can help to calm your mind and body, which can be helpful when you’re feeling overwhelmed by overthinking.

These activities can help quiet the mind and provide a space for greater self-awareness.

15. Keep a journal

Keeping a journal can help you track your thoughts and see patterns in your thinking. It can also help to write down what is causing you to overthink in the first place. Once you are aware of what is causing your overthinking, you can start to work on addressing those issues.

Exercise

Another thing that people can do to combat overthinking is to exercise. Exercise can help release endorphins, improve mood, and reduce stress.

17. Talk to someone about your overthinking

Don’t hesitate to seek help if you find that your overthinking is impeding your life. It can be helpful to talk to someone else about your thoughts and get some outside perspective.

Sometimes, confiding in a friend or family member will do the trick. Be sure to choose someone you trust who will listen to you without judgment.

Otherwise, a therapist, counselor, or mental health professional can help you to understand your thoughts and feelings and work on ways to change your thinking patterns. Overthinking can indicate an underlying mental health condition, such as anxiety or depression. Treatment can help you learn to manage your overthinking and improve your quality of life.

You are getting the support you need to stop overthinking by talking to someone.

18. Be kind to yourself

Remember, everyone makes mistakes, and no one is perfect. Try to cut yourself some slack and enjoy life, even if it means making a few mistakes along the way.

The most important thing is to find a coping strategy that works for you. If you are still overthinking after trying one or more of these strategies, it may be helpful to talk to a mental health professional

The Benefits Of Stopping Overthinking

Although overthinking can be good if it helps you find creative solutions to problems or see the world differently, it has many drawbacks.

Overthinking can significantly hinder productivity, creativity, and general well-being. When we overthink, we get stuck in our heads, ruminating on past mistakes or worrying about future problems. You may find it difficult to relax and sleep.

Stopping overthinking can improve your mental and physical health, boost productivity, and tap into your creativity. You can also find greater peace of mind and enjoyment in life.

So if you find yourself stuck in a cycle of overthinking, know you’re not alone. There is a way out.

Remember that overthinking is often just our minds trying to protect us. In many cases, the thing we’re overthinking is actually not a big deal. It’s important to remind ourselves of this and not get too caught up in the stress and anxiety that overthinking can cause.

By recognizing the signs, we can catch ourselves in the act and take steps to nip it in the bud. We can also practice mindfulness and other relaxation techniques to calm our minds and help us focus on the present moment.

With a little effort, you can learn to control your thoughts and live a happier, healthier life.

These pop-ups can sometimes be a pain to close or automatically show ads. It’s better to stop them dead in their tracks.Third, keep your antivirus or windows defender up-to-date to protect your system as a whole, even if a file is automatically downloaded. It will scan it for known viruses and notify you if there’s something to be concerned about.Free Movie Apps: The Piracy Question

While you can get paid to watch Netflix, many prefer free movie apps over paid services. However, popular free movie streaming apps are often not licensed or regulated. (These are apps that we have not mentioned in this post!) The content they upload is often illegally acquired from movie studios or production houses. Viewers who stream movies from those sites can get fined a minimum of $750.

Popular free movie apps with unlicensed content continue to shut down because of court rulings. But the sites manage to resurrect under different names and continue operations. It’s the same with free movie apps with region-restricted content. Tech-savvy users use VPNs to get around these restrictions.

For some people, free movie streaming sites are much-appreciated money-savers. However, the producers and studios that work hard on their projects are not fond of such sites putting their work out for free.

Piracy is like digital theft; no one wants their services or products stolen. While some platforms have pirated content, there are legitimate and safe movie apps that you can use without the risk of being penalized. Through these platforms, you can watch free online movies that are legal since they are in partnership with studios to whom they pay fees.

It’s like illegal side hustles; if you know better, you should do better.

More Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Free Movie AppsHow Can I Watch Full Movies for Free?

You can watch full movies on websites such as Crackle, Tubi TV, Vudu, PopcornFlix, and PlutoTV across different devices and platforms. While many sites are location-restricted, you can use VPNs to unlock a region.

What App Is Like Netflix but Free?

Applications like Crackle, Tubi TV, Vudu, PopcornFlix, and PlutoTV are excellent, free Netflix alternatives. They provide a huge catalog of licensed movies and TV shows for safe and legal viewing. Like Netflix, these apps feature original content, including film school originals and web series.

What Is the Safest App for Downloading Movies?

The free movie apps mentioned above provide the safety you need to download movies. Standard precautions apply, such as installing your gadget’s own antivirus and VPN, as well as web blockers for content filtering in the case of children viewers.

What Is the Best Free Movie App for Android Devices?

Some point to Vudu as the best free movie app for your Android device because of the clarity and sound quality of the streaming movies. Tubi TV is also notable for its video’s high definition quality. In terms of ease of use, Crackle is an app with easy navigating tools and user-friendly controls that allows you to stream movies without any complications.

Conclusion: Free Movie Apps

Gone are the days when watching movies at home entailed going to the corner video store and renting VHS tapes or DVDs.

Many competing platforms now enable video streaming so that you can watch movies for free anytime, anywhere. Explore each platform’s features to determine which works best for you and your devices.

Watching movies in these free apps is a unique way to watch your favorite series. You can even get paid while you’re watching your favorite series. You can make up to $200 daily with different apps and platforms, all while you’re kicking back and relaxing. Happy viewing!

Best Digestive Enzymes: Food Intolerances & Gut Health Repair

Enzymes are responsible for all the chemical reactions in your body – from digesting food to repairing cells. And that shows just how important they are for good health.

But sometimes, our bodies don’t produce enough enzymes, which can be caused by various factors, including a poor diet, stress, and illness. When this happens, we may experience bloating, gas, indigestion, heartburn, and even fatigue.

Fortunately, digestive enzyme supplements can help and are a lifesaver for those with enzyme deficiency. These commercially produced enzymes essentially play the role of the absent enzymes in your digestive system, helping to break down food and improve gut health.

In this article, we’ll review the best digestive enzymes you can use if you have food intolerances or want to repair your gut health. But first, let’s start with the basics.

Do You Need Digestive Enzymes?

Before opting for a digestive enzyme, you must be sure you need one. Here are some common signs that you may benefit from taking a digestive enzyme supplement:

You Have Difficulty Digesting Certain Foodsbest digestive enzymes

If you find that you can’t digest certain foods, it may be because you lack the enzymes needed to break them down. For example, lactose intolerant people lack the enzyme lactase, which breaks down lactose, a sugar found in milk.

As a result, they experience symptoms like bloating, gas, and diarrhea when they consume dairy products. A lactase supplement can help prevent these symptoms by providing the enzyme needed to digest lactose.

You Have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

IBS is a common disorder that affects the digestive system. Its symptoms include abdominal pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea, and constipation.

While the exact cause of IBS is unknown, it’s thought to be related to a dysfunction in the digestive system. And research has shown that IBS sufferers tend to have lower levels of enzymes like amylase and lipase.

Taking a digestive enzyme supplement may help to relieve symptoms of IBS by improving digestive function.

You Are Following a Restrictive Diet and Having Digestive Issues

If you’ve tried to improve your gut health by following a restrictive diet but still experience digestive issues, it may be due to enzyme deficiency. This is often the case with those who follow a gluten-free or low-FODMAP diet.

While these diets can be helpful for some, they can also lead to nutrient deficiencies and digestive problems if not done correctly. The reason is that these diets eliminate many healthy, nutrient-rich foods that are also good sources of enzymes.

A digestive enzyme supplement can help improve gut health and relieve digestive symptoms while following a restrictive diet.

You Have Histamine Intolerance

Histamine intolerance is a condition that occurs when the body can’t break down histamine properly. Histamine is a natural compound in many foods, including fermented foods, aged cheeses, alcohol, and certain fruits and vegetables. The body also produces it as part of the immune response.

Typically, the enzyme DAO (diamine oxidase) breaks down histamine in the gut so it can be safely excreted from the body. But people with histamine intolerance have low levels of DAO, leading to a build-up of histamine in the body.

This condition can cause various symptoms, including headaches, hives, difficulty breathing, and digestive problems. A DAO supplement can help relieve these symptoms by providing the enzyme needed to break down histamine.

How to Determine the Enzyme You Needbest digestive enzymes

There are numerous enzymes, and if you’re having trouble digesting certain foods, it may be due to a lack of a particular one. And you can only benefit from digestive enzyme supplements that target your specific condition.

The best way to determine the enzyme you need is to work with a healthcare practitioner (a gastroenterologist) who will order specific tests. These tests can help to identify which enzymes you’re deficient in and inform the best way to supplement.

Additionally, many digestive enzyme supplements contain a blend of enzymes that can help digest various food types. If you’re not sure which enzyme to take, a blend may be an excellent place to start. However, it is best to get sound advice from a doctor before taking any supplements.

Who Should Avoid Digestive Enzyme Supplements?

You should avoid taking digestive enzyme supplements if you have chronic digestive conditions, such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. Enzyme supplements can also interact with certain medications, so do your due diligence before taking them.

Pregnant and nursing women should also avoid taking digestive enzyme supplements. While these supplements may not pose any danger, it’s best to get the doctor’s okay before taking them.

People with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities should be careful when taking digestive enzyme supplements, as some may contain gluten. If you are sensitive to gluten, check the label of the supplement to ensure it is gluten-free.

Conclusion

The best digestive enzymes help break down food and absorb nutrients, and if you have any digestive issues, you may benefit from taking a supplement. However, check with your doctor before taking any supplements, as they could interact with your medications or aggravate existing conditions.

Also, determine which enzyme you’re lacking before taking a supplement because taking the wrong enzyme can do more harm than good. Again, this is not something you should determine on your own but rather with the help of a medical professional.

With the right supplement and dosage, you can improve your digestion and nutrient absorption and reduce any digestive discomfort you may be experiencing.

Helpful Ways To Cope With Anger Issues Right Now

anger issues

Anger is a feeling or emotion like disgust, surprise, frustration, gratitude, and other ways to describe how you feel. Anger is typically a cover for other emotions such as frustration, anxiety, loneliness, grief, or shame.

Individuals who struggle with other psychiatric disorders, such as ADHD, anxiety, or mood disorders, are more likely to show forms of aggression or anger. This guide will help you clarify if you may be prone to anger issues and how to cope with them.

Do I Have Anger Issues?

Repeated focus on adverse events, words said, and how angry those events made you feel leads to depression. Anger issues may be a cover for something deeper such as depression and anxiety caused by convincing yourself these thoughts are all factual.

Your anger is an issue if it controls how you act and think, disrupts your ability to work and communicate, and frequently affects you physically and mentally.

Regarding children, anger issues, irritability, and aggression are common causes of referrals to therapy. Anger is the core symptom or emotion associated with ODD disorder (Oppositional Defiant Disorder).

How to Deal with Anger Issues

Being angry does not make you a “bad” person; it can mean that you have chemical needs that need support, such as nutrient deficiencies. It can also indicate that you have trauma, hurt or unforgiven beliefs that weigh you down.

Use tools such as the Anger Iceberg to identify the emotions behind feelings of anger. Once you place the feeling underneath that anger, addressing the triggers and where they come from is easier. Digging into deeper issues is best done with the help of a mental health professional to help guide you through this process.

Go to therapy to learn psychoeducation on anger and how Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help you.

Practice relaxation and grounding techniques to help distract yourself from the situation that seems to be getting the best of you.

Acknowledging you have this issue or acknowledging others telling you that you get angry more frequently can help you get support.

Recognize what symptoms occur when you start to feel “angry.”

Journaling can help you better identify your triggers for personal use or sharing with a professional in therapy. Write down your physical symptoms, thoughts, and if you noticed a more profound reason for your anger, such as resentment, distrust, or sadness.

2. Know When To Walk Away

It may be easier said than done but walk away when you feel emotions flooding your body, and you cannot control them.

If you are around someone you know well, you may feel comfortable telling them, “I care about you and what you have to say, but I am unable to talk to you about this right now. Let’s discuss it when I feel more level-headed, and I can discuss it calmly”.

Walk away and do something healthier like read a book, get a breath of fresh air, meditate, ride your bike, pet an animal, do your hair, or watch a funny video.

3. Practice

Practice healthy habits before you get angry, and list examples of times you typically get mad. For example, “I get angry when my spouse nags me about leaving my clothes on the floor.” Then, practice healthy habits such as deep breathing, timeouts/walking away, and journal examples of how you will use those healthy habits to help you in that situation.

When you practice the anticipated scenario knowing that you typically get angry when your spouse mentions your clothes on the floor, you are giving yourself tools to cope with multiple situations.

So replace your feelings of anger when they say that and plan an activity, like a bike ride, when you start to feel angry or annoyed by their comments. Then when it happens, you know how to respond more productively.

4. Wait to Respond

Waiting to respond is similar to walking away. The saying “ if you can’t say something nice, don’t say it at all” can be beneficial in this situation. If you respond while you feel angry, you will not only say and possibly do things you regret but also fuel your anger.

If you call someone and tell them how angry you are at the moment and how this other person causes you distress, then you are making yourself more furious.

5. Meditation

Once you identify your feelings beneath your anger, you can focus on meditations that help you cope with those feelings.

For example, if you have feelings of resentment that get triggered and cause you to be angry, you can do meditation for irritation. You may learn how to forgive that person for your well-being in this way and let go of those feelings of anger and resentment that you hold and cause you stress.

6. Take Supplements

Magnesium deficiency causes muscle tightness in the neck and shoulders, which is a problem in individuals who are anxious, tense, or angry; they tense up their bodies throughout the day without realizing it. In addition, magnesium deficiency causes irritability, anxiety, migraines, insomnia, and more.

Taking magnesium bisglycinate or magnesium threonate can help with magnesium deficiency’s physical and mental symptoms. Magnesium bisglycinate is available in higher doses, and it is highly absorbable, easier on the stomach, and suitable for increasing overall magnesium levels. Magnesium threonate passes the blood-brain barrier more accessibly but is taken in lower doses and mainly for brain health.

You can also take a natural muscle relaxer. When you are tense, and in physical pain or distress, you tend to be more irritable. Pain and discomfort can lessen your patience and cause you to become angrier than you intend to be.

7. Get Enough Sleep

Sleep is essential for growth, development, detoxing, and especially mood. Getting at least 8 hours of sleep per night can reduce your anger issues or the underlying causes of anger.

Sleep debt and sleep deprivation can cause higher levels of anger. Sleep debt is repeatedly going without enough sleep in a night, and sleep deprivation is getting less than adequate sleep. Research showed increased anxiety, depression, anger, and mood swings when sleep deprived. Sleep deprivation can exacerbate mood disorders and anger issues in children and adolescents in as little as one sleepless night. (Saghir et al., 2018)

Sleep deprivation affects a part of your brain called the amygdala. The amygdala is one of the brain’s primary parts controlling emotional responses. Sleep deprivation causes the amygdala to have heightened reactions to negativity or perceived threats.

A way to fix this is by doing a sleep extension to decrease negative mood and lessen the amygdala’s response. Sleep extension helps reduce the build-up of sleep debt; however, repeated sleep deprivation can diminish the benefits of sleep extension. (Motomura et al., 2017)

8. Forgive And Let It Go

**This, of course, is not meant for abuse or more severe forms of wrongdoings. Saying this is also not to downplay the seriousness and validity of anyone’s experiences.**

However, we can let go of many things that cause us to be angry and forgiven with time, meditation, therapy, and healing. Rumination can contribute to feelings of anger by causing you to repeatedly re-experience those events. (de la Fuente-Anuncibay et al., 2021)

Confirmation bias can cause someone to pursue ideas and beliefs that support their negative perspective about another person or situation. For example, “My neighbor didn’t wave to me one time when they were outside, so my neighbor must have taken my package, and they must have been the one who ratted me out to the HOA.”

This is an unhelpful way of thinking and a form of cognitive distortion that causes us to hang onto anger.

When you have a clean slate, forgive someone, and set your boundaries, you can work towards letting go of that anger, resentment, and fear.

Forgiving someone does not diminish the event’s effects on you; it only frees you from your negative feelings.

Where To Get Additional Help

Look up “anger management self-help groups in my area,” and you can find groups that meet locally or online to discuss how they cope with feelings of anger.

Go to therapy individually and with your spouse, family member, or friend with whom you may have repeated tension. Therapy can help you address your feelings towards that individual and also help you communicate both of your perspectives for better understanding.

For children and adults, it is beneficial to use anger management workbooks or read books about anger. Reading and learning more about these deeper feelings is helpful if you can narrow down the feelings beneath the anger.

Conclusion

Anger issues can be broken down and understood at a deeper level than simply being angry. Taking care of your physical and mental health, having a community of people you can rely on, and acknowledging that everyone has feelings of anger from time to time are essential ways to help cope with anger.

Getting help does not make you weak or a bad person; it makes you an aware person who wants to improve.
