Busy Year so far

It's been a busy year for me, and we're only at the beginning of September. My two rescue dogs add to the hectic nature of my life. They can't go out or come back inside at the same time. That would be too easy. Still, I wouldn't trade them for the world.

One good thing, after a very hot, humid summer, things are slowly beginning to cool. A few leaves have begun to turn and fall. Fall is probably my favorite season, followed closely by Spring.

I just released the 3rd novel-length book in my Sidhe Hunters series. They're all stand-alones. Check it out.

Sprin? in South Carolina

I don't know where you live, but here in South Carolina, Mother Nature is just playing with us. We get lovely warm spring days, and then BAM, she hits us with a below freezing night. I know that eventually warmer weather will arrive and stay. Though, SC often skips straight from winter cold to summer heat and humidity with just a week or two of true spring enjoyment.

My two dogs are happy. They've gotten to enjoy many days of sunning themselves on the deck.

Trees, shrubs, and early flowers are blooming. Others are coming up with the promise of later beauty. It's such an optimistic time of the year. New beginnings. Renewal.

It's the perfect time for the release of my latest book.

Wishing you all a beautiful, bountiful spring!

I Belong To The Hunter

New Year, New Book & Series

Here is hoping that 2021 is good to us all. We all need a break.

I'm excited for 2021 because I finally get to bring my Hunter Chronicles series to my readers. This series has more magic, some shape-shifting on occasion, more trips back and forth between the alternate dimension. And, of course, some characters that I hope you'll love (or in case of the bad guys--hate) as much as I do.

If it sounds like something you'd enjoy, check it out and let me know what you think.

Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in the US. It's a time to reflect and be grateful. This year, because of the pandemic, maybe more so.

Most of us are thankful for our family and friends. The people who have inspired us and stood by us. The people who love us--even if sometimes we're not so lovable. I am very thankful for all of those people currently in my life, as well as those who have passed through, and those who have passed on. There are too many names to list, but know that without them, I wouldn't be here doing what I love--writing.

I'm grateful for the writer friends I've met virtually this year. You mean more than you know.

And, last but not least, I'm very grateful for all the readers who have given a new author a chance and purchased my book(s). I hope that you're enjoying reading them as much as I'm enjoying writing them.

May you all enjoy a Happy, Safe Thanksgiving with or without your family nearby. Together we will get through this and come out the stronger for having done so.

Autumn

I love autumn. It's my favorite season. The crisp air. The gorgeous colors. The sun slanting lower in the afternoon and creating these looonnnggg shadows.

I also enjoy the cooler temperatures. In South Carolina that usually means the sixties to lower seventies. It makes yard work easier as not only does the heat drop but so does the humidity.

My two dogs love fall, too. They enjoy playing outside more when it's cooler. Plus, deer come through the woods, giving them something at which to bark. Not to mention the activity of the squirrels increases.

Fall also puts me more in the mood to write. I'm not sure what it is about the season that jumpstarts my muse, but it sure does.

What is your favorite season?

Book Covers

I'm currently working with my cover artist on covers for two upcoming books-- 3rd in the Sons of Pendragon series and the 1st in The Hunter Chronicles series. She does an amazing job and I only have to ask her to tweak them a little.

Sometimes I feel bad when I ask, but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to the covers and I want them to reflect the books as closely as possible. It's wonderful to work with an artist who gets that.

I believe book covers are an important component of the book. They're what the reader sees first. They can either cause them to pick up the book or pass it by for another. I want mine to draw the reader in and make them want more.

Hopefully, when you see the covers for "Dragon's Challenge" and "Holding Out For A Hunter," you'll think we got it right.

Back Blurbs

I love writing. I really do.

What I can't stand is trying to boil my stories down into a few paragraphs to grab someone's attention. Writing the blurb for the back of the book is the hardest part for me.

How do I pick what to write about the female and male protagonists? Especially without giving too much away. It's a fine balance that I'm still working on mastering.

Next book - Holding Out For A Hunter

I've sent this book to my editor and sent the ideas to the cover artist. I can't wait for you to read this book. Hopefully, I'll have it out around the end of September or sometime in October.

While a stand-alone, this will be the first book in my companion series to Sons of Pendragon. This series is going to deal with the Hunters. You've met a few in the SP series, but you'll learn more about them and about the world of Sidhe in this new series. You'll also see more of Stiabhan Iorworth and Pritchard "Pritch" Cathcart, who are recurring characters.

This first book tells the story of Maxen "Max" Maclean who besides being a Hunter has raised his four brothers.

The heroine is Cerridwyn "Cerri" (pronounced Carry) Lavaine. She's having financial difficulties and just inherited a house and land in Cosaint, West Virginia from a great uncle. Sounds great, right? That's where she learns that she's a Halfling and all that entails.

There is an explosion, a pooka, some Dubh Sidhe (dark fairy), fights, and, of course, romance.

Furbabies

I love dogs. I've been adopting them since I was four and visiting my grandmother in South Carolina. One showed up at her house and I began feeding her. My Dad named her Begger. It broke my heart when we had to go back to West Virginia and leave her behind. Dad did give her to a family with several kids who lived on his farm. She had a good life, even if it wasn't with me.

As soon as Dad retired to South Carolina and we no longer lived on a busy road, I was able to keep the dogs I adopted. That was the beginning of a life-long pup addiction.

At the moment, I have two rescue dogs. Riley, a five-year-old Pointer-mix mutt, who weighs about 50 pounds. The second is Sawyer, a nearly-three-year-old Golden Retriever mix, who weighs around 95 pounds and still believes he's a lapdog.

Do you love animals? Cats? Dogs? Something else?
