Who’s Glory Are You Living For?

He Must Increase, I Must Decrease

Have you ever looked at other believers and gotten jealous because their life or ministry seems to be going better than yours?

This could have been a temptation for John the Baptist. Remember His purpose was to point people to Christ. People were flocking to Jesus.

Hohn could have chosen to have His own special purpose that He created. He could have looked for greatness within himself.

Instead, he surrendered to the mission God had for him; the same mission He has for all of us. We were designed to bring the gospel to all the nations.

To carry out his mission, John realized that Jesus must increase in visibility in his life and he, himself, must decrease.

You too could be tempted to want to live your own life and create your own purpose. Remember you were ransomed at the price of Christ’s blood.

Let us be so grateful for our redemption and confident of our mission, that we truly live for Christ. When people look at our lives, may they see more Jesus than us in all that we do.

All Things Are Possible With God

He Gives The Victory

Men and women will let us down, but God is always faithful and with Him, all things are possible.

Joseph’s situation was depressing. His brothers abandon Him, he was wrongly accused , and then was thrown in jail.

Yet, Joseph faithfully served God even in a dungeon. God interpreted the dreams of two of the king’s men through him. Jospeh asked bone of them to mention Him that he may get out.

Again,Joseph is let down by another man in his life. But God, causes circumstances to happen that this cupbearer mentions Jospeh after all. In one conversation, Jospeh God takes Jospeh from prisoner to ruler over Egypt.

Joseph is not the only one God has displayed His power through.

He took a shepherd boy named David, slayed lions, and giants and bears with him and made Him a King. (I couldn’t help the Wizard of Oz reference here, sorry

Dark Nights – He Is Faithful

Building A Testimony

I remember days where my life was so hard that I wished my life was done. My heart hurt so bad that I just wanted the pain to cease.

My soul groaned so loud in me that I couldn’t hear anyone trying to help me. My eyes were blurred with tears and I could no longer see anything good.

On the outside, I held a facade of hard worker and at the same time, withdrew to in inner prison in my mind. I built walls around me to keep out everything and everyone.

And then I remembered the way the Lord rescued me in my sin and shame. Surely, He if anyone, loved me. Yes, He had the power to save me and break these prison walls I had trapped myself in.

There were many dark nights where I had to recall these promises about the very character of our Father in heaven.

These nights have have become very few and far between, but the testimonies of God’s lovingkindness, mercy, and faithfulness live on in the thousands I’ve shared with.

I’m convinced that when all we have to cling to is God, growth is inevitable. These dark times toughen us to press on when others would give in. They become our greatest tools on our mission.

There are scores of souls facing dark nights right now that have no knowledge or have forgotten about, a Heavenly Father who loves them. They have nothing to cling to but their own efforts.

Your story matters. It can encourage others on their dark nights to regain focus and hold fast to the promises of God

The Ultimate Promise

He Will Take His Stand

We live in a fallen world with corruption, violence, injustice, and suffering. These things have brought much grief over the years as I have watched friends suffer as well as suffering myself.

No matter how hard it gets, no matter what we have lost, we have been redeemed! Our greatest struggle has been solved.

There will come a day when the enemy will be bound and no longer be given any authority in this place.

Our Savior will take His stand and all will be made right. No more corruption, violence, injustice, or suffering.

On the days when my heart is overwhelmed by grief, I call this truth to mind and hold fast to our Lord’s promises. He fills me with joy in the midst of turmoil.

What verses do you hold on to?

Where Is My Help?

My help comes from the Lord

I used to pride myself on my problem solving abilities. Life was was about amassing knowledge to be the best at everything so everyone would look to me as the hero.

At the root of it all was a lack of understanding who God is and who we are. I spend years striving for the approval of others while I attempted to solve everything myself.

This worked well for a while but became all the more difficult as my problems got more complex.

When I was introduced to my sin problem, I was also advised that it was something I couldn’t solve. I set out to prove them wrong.

After a short while of trying, i realized it was not possible. I was exhausted and my problem was still alive and well. I finally stopped striving for a moment and looked up at a mountain and stars of a night sky while in Colorado.

I was overcome with the presence of our Father in Heaven. I surrendered to the One who crafted that mountain and every star in the sky.

I realized that He is the master problem solver, He has established my value, He is who I will always need in every situation.

Maybe you’ve been striving to hold it all together and fix all of the problems you’re facing. Take a breath, look up, and see where your help comes from. It comes from the LORD.

Shake The Dust If Needed

The Numbers Are His

Sometimes, in ministry circles, people bring a business mindset. This mindset can drowned out the voice of the Holy Spirit.

As a Pastor, I remember feeling the unspoken and constant pressure of “Are your numbers growing quickly?”

Over time, this question began to reshape my mind toward keeping people happy rather than listening to God’s leading.

The reality is, there will be some who listen and embrace the gospel and there will be some who reject it.

The knowledge of when to shake the dust off your feet comes from insight given by the Holy Spirit.

True joy comes from obeying the Holy Spirit and walking in a manner worthy of the calling. The results and numbers are up to God.

Seek God. Listen and obey His leading. He has the power to draw the hearts of His people. Be faithful and obedient in what you have been given.

No Other Name

Salvation By His Name Alone

I remember a time when I first heard the gospel. A part of me wanted to still cling to my sin. I doubted God’s word because it didn’t line up with my life.

I whole heartedly believed what I was doing was right. God gently and somewhat not as gently showed me the authority of His Word and power of His love which opened my eyes to see His truth.

The truth was, I was out of line and not living in accordance to His ways. I was celebrating in my sin. As much as I tried to justify my actions, I was in sin.

I didn’t need anyone to condemn me or point it out. I stood before a Holy God and my condition became apparent quickly. Rather than confess it, I hid and tried to keep living my life according to me.

Then I attended a summer camp in Colorado. I heard the account of what happened to Jesus because of my sin.

Keep in mind, I had always been a science and math guy and did not just accept things without proof.

Genuine tears streamed down my face as I realized that Jesus loved me as I was, even in my sinful state, so much so that he went to the cross for me to pay for my sin.

As hard as I had worked to be good and justify my attempts, I came up short. I found true acceptance and salvation in Jesus and His finished work at the cross.

Now I live for Him and to tell others of His love and forgiveness. For I am fully loved and free and want the same for everyone.

You Are Qualified

Live Your Purpose

The mission God has for you in 2020 can seem overwhelming and impossible. You may even feel like your not equipped to accomplish it.

Moses felt the same way. Multiple times he reminds the LORD that he is not good at speaking, yet the LORD sends him anyway.

The truth of the matter is that our Father has equipped you for every good work through His word. You have exactly what you need to do the work that God has prepared for you.

God proves this to Moses and He will do the same for you.

I work with people almost every day who feel unqualified until they take a good honest look at themselves and see how God has equipped them for His Mission.

I have seen several who feel worthless discover God’s design, make a plan, and watch God change the world through them.

When we carry out the mission in accordance with our design, the result is glory, honor, and fruit for the Lord. Joy fills our hearts as we confidently know our purpose and see the hand of the Lord at work.

He desires you to be joyfully at work with Him in the redemption of His people.

Yet He Is With Me

His Presence is My Strength

For some, 2020 doesn’t include making big plans, but instead they are just trying to survive. Perhaps they are facing the biggest physical battle of their lives.

Jospeh found himself in a similar position. His own brothers had gotten jealous and allowed him to be sold into slavery and survival mode.

The story is heartbreaking and sad, but five words changed everything. The five words are these: “Yet God was with him”

When we face the difficulties of this life and the overwhelming strain of a fallen word, we too, are not alone. We need not endure these sufferings by ourselves.

In the midst of brokenness, grief, and pain, God’s presence makes all the difference. His favor is refreshing water and strength to press on.

We have the blessing of knowing the end of the story. God’s plan was bigger than the current suffering. Through Jospeh, the remnant of Israel was preserved.

Whatever you are facing today, God is with you. He wants to bring you through so that all may see His glory, love, and power.

Praying for all my brothers and sisters facing overwhelming battles as you enter 2020. May God’s favor be upon you and may you feel His presence and strength in the storm.

Critical Growth Plan for 2020

Daily In His Word

Every year at this time, I build my education and personal development plan. It usually includes training for speaking, social media, business, etc. These may vary from online to in person events all over the US.

The most important component; however, never changes. I read through the Bible at least once per year. It is by far the most critical part of my training and has challenged me to grow more than any other venue.

It equips me to be ready for the enemies attacks. It encourages me when I lose sight of my vision. It reminds me of God’s love for me when I need it most and it builds a storehouse if wisdom.

The pages of His word are more than just content. They are divinely inspired and have the power to transform me through the renewing of my mind.

Every word, phrase, paragraph and book accomplish their work in me. My mind becomes a repository of the Word for the Holy Spirit to call into memory’s in times of need.

If you want 2020 to be the best growth-filled year yet, make sure to include reading His word daily. You can get a copy of the Bible App on your phone and the select a ‘Bible in a year’ plan.

Make the most important step in your personal development this year.
