To Receive
Everything comes to you, that belongs to you -
but first, you must create the capacity to receive it.
There is no greater ability to learn, than to receive. Because as long as unworthiness is held within our hearts, we can never truly give what it most healing to the world.
We are taught to give - (The archetypal mother endlessly giving herself to her child - The wounded healer, replenishing others - The worker, trading time for wealth)
But have you been taught how to receive - without an exchange of worth?
It may be as small as an offering of stillness or beauty - or as grand as having the capacity to be loved…
Receiving is the art of seeing the beauty, love, freedom, abundance & splendour being offered in front of you in every given moment - and recognising it as a piece of yourself that is being returned home to your Being.
The Lesser Hardship
Choose the lesser
hardship.
because escaping your pain
may create more distance than
sitting with it.
and ignoring your longings
may be more neglectful
than following them.
and hushing your heart
may be more deafening
than allowing it to speak.
and keeping it together
may create more wreckage
than falling apart.
and all the fears
you hold
in making the right choice,
may be heavier than
the simple acts
that free them.
invite the escape
the longing
and the fear
- not into conversation-
but into presence,
with you.
for the greater famine
is in your hunger
for so much to be otherwise.
The Truer Dimension
The well of your sadness
holds too,
the quantity
of your hope.
The reservoir of your pain
holds too,
the span
of your awakened heart.
The emptiness of your longing
holds too,
the substance
of your home.
Whatever creates pits and hollows,
chasms and ravines,
in you
are not at all
gauges of your lack...
but truer dimensions
of your capacities.
Loneliness Is A Transmission
"Just as you wail
loneliness
through the
chords of
your heart,
so can you
tighten these strings
to communicate
with others.
Sit with your ache
and give it sound,
grieve it, unbound
by the confinements
of shame.
Let loneliness sing itself
through the silence
until it becomes
a meeting place
for all other
homeless hearts.
Soon you will see
that the company
you seek
is seeking you;
an empty heart
sits by
an abandoned
radio wave
listening for your
signals of hope.
Let love
and its longings
connect you
to these
singing strings
being strummed
throughout the world...
for loneliness
is not at all silent,
but a deafening
transmission
being heard
by all of our hearts.
The Real Tenderness
It doesn’t matter
what you see before you,
what matters
is what you see within yourself,
and how you bring that into the world.
Offer the bounty of your heart
to the scarcity of these conditions,
the fullness of your lungs
into cavities of hopelessness...
Leave roots and seedsin the homes and heartsof those who have longsuffered from the famine of kindness.
See, from the inside out,
this life
not as it is,
but as it could be,
given your tenderness.
The Truth About Progress
Progress is not linear
and oftentimes it’s not even logical
until you stop searching
forward
and instead
look back
through those
bottle-bottom glasses
of hindsight.
Sometimes you land up
exactly where you were before
only to find you
have lost a judgment
to gain a perspective.
Sometimes there’s no reward only
to know that what you know
is still obscure;
having but one grain of experience
to thicken your wisdom-stew.
And in the end,
your evolution
is defined by
a single choice;
are you in this purely for where you think you want to be?
or
are you invested in surrendering to the divination of the journey itself?
Finding Your Voice
Care for your voice,
for it speaks
of your truth,
defends your wisdom
and understands the
language of Heart.
Uncage itby knowing what keepsit silent.Send it down the minesthat lay before you, those damp, dark placeswhere you would otherwiseperish under conditionsof quietness.Let it speak of your worth, and give sound to your soul.Let it leave its place of shynessburied deep in the deafening belly, set it free to fly over the mastand forge refuge ahead;for your wordswill precedeall actsand manifestall dreamsand become the changeall others repeat.Convince yourselfof them first, before you offer their weight to others.Sharpen your voice daily,on knife’s tip of ‘no'but soften it toowith quiet prayerand whispers of grace. Let your voicecut the wire, split the bark, crack the glassthat keeps you silent, and in fearof becoming an inconvenience. In fact, allow your voiceto be of such inconvenienceto others, that it begins to bethe most available valueyou can offer to yourself.
Healing Generational Trauma
You
are a body of water-bearing the echoof ancestors past.Their distant aches flutter waves of hurtthrough your bones.Their bewailing tales etch oraclesinto your softliving flesh. And althoughtheir footprints havelong been raked overby time's sand keeper, their whisperingscan still be heard, deep in that echo of your own heart’s longing. But you are the shoredear soul, you are the resting place for that final ripple;the cloth and songfor all past woundsto be tenderly balmed upon.
