RIP Michael Apted, director of 'The World Is Not Enough'

I'm extremely sad to hear about Michael Apted's passing. The World Is Not Enough was a brilliant James Bond adventure where Apted managed to balance drama and action well and give us our first female Bond villain. The kid that watched Bond 19 on Christmas 1999 is now the adult that mourns the death of whom he considers the best drama director in the series. My condolences to his family.

2021 is coming: expect for the best...

We are about to leave a very uncomfortable and treacherous year. In my case, it was also tragic: my dear Mariana passed away after battling a long illnes in March and so did my cat just a couple of weeks later. It was expetced, but still very hurtful, for I know these are irreparable losses and, well, she was...

News round-up (Spare me the Freud)

Hello world, hope these final days of this treacherous 2020 finds you well.
There's been so much more going on that I barely had the time to write here, my only leisure thing lately was watching the original Mission: Impossible series upon recommendation of a friend.I'm about to finish the first season and I have to say I'm enjoying it quite a lot.
Other than that, I finally published The Films of Martin Campbell . You know, this was going to be my first book, but for many reasons I dropped the pro...

For England, James: a love letter to 'GoldenEye' on its 25th anniversary

I completely ignore what my five-year-old self was doing on this day in 1995. I was being taken care by my grandmother or my aunt after they picked me up from kindergarten, having a slight preference for my aunt as she didn't feed me to my bones as my grandma did, offering me different kinds of food from 4 to 8 pm, continuously. Anyway, one thing is for certain: I didn't care about James Bond, and I completely ignored that the film that would change my life forever was being released in the Unit...

The precious moments

It's been five years now from the day that has been -unarguably- the best day of the second half of my life. That is, not counting the days of my childhood where dad picked me up from school and took me to downtown and I raced to the comic store to see which Bond collectable would I have that day (a new issue of 007 Magazine, a pack of the Connoisseur Collection trading cards or, if I was lucky, a Johnny Lighting die-cast car).
It was the day where, after two years of talking through Twitter, ema...

Goodbye, Sean

Exactly five years ago today I was en route to Rio de Janeiro to fulfill a dream. Little I knew back then that five years on I would be saying goodbye to the first onscreen 007: Sean Connery, for many the best James Bond ever.
I have to admit I haven't enjoyed the Connery movies as a kid. I had watched GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies, then began to discover the old Bonds: The Man With The Golden Gun, Live And Let Die, The Living Daylights and Moonraker in that order as far as I can remember. T...

What does 'C' stand for? Careless
I tend to be an EON apologist. During the many times No Time To Die was delayed, I tried to understand them thinking they know what's best for the James Bond series. I was just moving to my new home in July 2017 when I read that Bond 25 will be released in November 2019 and I was okay with it, even though four years seemed like a long gap. Then I was happy with EON convincing Daniel Craig to return, mainly because I didn't quite like the other "candidates" and I think the happy romantic ending ...
