Currently in the middle of reading Aja James' novel Pure Ecstasy, and I just wanted to give quick shout out the mastery that is Sofia in this book. Sofia was never a character I think we aren't meant to particularly care for, at least in beginning, a thing she often pointed out with knowing self derision.
Come some. 10 fantastic, absolutely binge worthy, mouth watering reads or so later, and we see her coming around (not quite there yet) to who she was fabled to be.

In the story it TELLS us, she behaves like all three of her main Incarnation's. Because of that, I LOOKED to ensure that's the case. And boy did Aja deliver!
I could feel her righteous fury as Ninti, a slave liberator forced to see her people on the cusp of returning to chains. I can see the Persian Princess wrathful with the desire to see everything burn if it doesn't fit her expectations. And Sofia. The girl who wanted to know the answers. About her fate. About her entire race. But whose soul was not that of a warrior in this life.
Sofia who now has the soul of a warrior to find this answers.
