“Go ahead spin your tale… Gryphon.” The Gryphon and His Thief #8sunday #snippetsunday #SPeekSunday
Today's my Birthday and I'll be out most of the day, but I'll be sure to visit everyone's blog when I return!
If you missed the last weeks snippet from The Gryphon & His Thief, here's the link.
Set up: Calli asked why he hadn't killed her if he was indeed a Gryphon shifter. He told her it was because of who she was to him.
*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 8 sentence limit.
***********************************************************
"I do not wish to harm you and on my honor, I promise, you shall be safe this night." He could not in truth promise her more.
Her safety depended on her relinquishing the stone, but he had a hunch, his little thief wouldn't be forthcoming in handing it over. He had already searched her person and had rummaged through her vehicle, but had not found the cursed item. She'd somehow managed to hide it somewhere between the museum and here, and he meant to find out where.
She placed the phone beside her on the nightstand, without taking her gaze off his and said, "Go on, spin your tale… Gryphon."
Where did one begin such a tale when she looked upon him as if lies flew from his tongue and naught else? To convince her otherwise would prove a challenge at best.
***********************************************************
Should be some story. lol
Thanks for stopping by! Love to know what you thought of the snippet. Until next week, take care.

Blurb:
Some Treasures are Priceless…
A long time ago, a Gryphon shifter’s duty was to guard and protect the people of the tribes, but Darrien Andros failed to keep his human wife safe from harm. Cursed for the crime, he must guard everything in the Museum of Cursed Antiquities forever, never to truly live and never to die. Centuries have passed, but when he encounters a thief, who uncannily resembles his dead wife, he is convinced he has a second chance.
Calli Angelis is hired to steal Hecate's Stone from the Museum, believing she would be returning it to its rightful owner. She never really trusted the person who hired her and now Darrien makes her doubt her motives, too. He also has her questioning the possibility of reincarnation when the attraction between them ignites into something she can no longer ignore.
As the two work together to unravel the mysteries behind the stone, it becomes apparent an old and dangerous enemy from Darrien’s past is determined to have history repeat itself.

“The very Gryphon that tried to rip me to shreds?” The Gryphon and His Thief #8sunday #snippetsunday #SPeekSunday
If you missed the last weeks snippet from The Gryphon & His Thief, here's the link.
Set up: Last week Darrien told Calli he's a shape shifter. Find out how she's processing the information.
*The excerpt may have been modified to fit the 8 sentence limit.
***********************************************************
Darrien stood still and waited for what he told her to sink in. Any false moves would result in—what did she call it? Ah yes, she'd go all Nicky Santoro on his head. He didn't know what that entailed, but he had a good idea he wouldn't like such a treatment.
"You're a Gryphon?" she more or less condemned rather than asked the question as her voice raised a few octaves in the telling. He usually liked the cadence of her voice, but not now when it made him feel bloody awful. "The very Gryphon that tried to rip me to shreds?"
"Yes," he said with a long frustrated sigh, knowing there was no reason to pretend otherwise.
***********************************************************
Hmm... Dude, you just told her you tried to rip her to shreds. Definitely not making points here. lol

If you missed the last weeks snippet from The Gryphon & His Thief, here's the link.
Set up: Darrien is about to tell Calli he's a shape shifter. Wonder how she'll take the news. lol
This is in Calli's POV and she is speaking first.
*The excerpt was modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. There are a few long sentences.
***********************************************************
"My name is Calli," she interrupted. She in no way was going to have him believe she was some chick he'd been involved with in the past.
"Calli," he said the name as if he were trying it out. He nodded then, as if his nutty messed up brain could handle the name change. "Calli, you spoke of seeing a Gryphon." He met her gaze with those strange colored-eyes, both bronze and gold. "The beastie and I are one and the same."
"Holy…" she stuttered.
***********************************************************
Yep, I could think of a few more words to go with Holy—. lol

Snippet Sunday: The eyes say it all…The Gryphon and His Thief @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday #SPeekSunday
If you missed the last weeks snippet from The Gryphon & His Thief, here's the link.
Set up: Calli is making light conversation as she decides just how she's going to deal with Darrien, who though nice on the eyes, is crazier than the Mad Hatter. He's in her motel room, demanding she hand over what she's stolen from the museum. Not going to happen.
Though Darrien is a Gryphon shifter cursed to guard the museum artifacts, he also wants to keep Calli safe now that he's convinced she's his wife reincarnated.
This is in Calli's POV and she is speaking first.
*The excerpt was modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. There are a few long sentences.
***********************************************************
"Your eyes…they're glowing."
His lips curved, and that wasn't a bad look on him either. "It cannot be helped. It is the beastie, you see. It tries to dominate and is fueled by my emotions."
Did she really want to know what he meant by the beastie? It seemed she did when her next question slipped from her lips before she could think better of it. "The beastie?" she asked.
***********************************************************
Well, she did ask, and Darrien will surely tell her. lol

Snippet Sunday: Look into my eyes…The Gryphon and His Thief @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday #SPeekSunday
Welcome to Snippet Sunday. I thought I'd change it up a little this week. I have a new release! So this is a snippet from The Gryphon and His Thief.
If you missed the last weeks snippet from The Gryphon & His Thief, here's the link. Chapter 3 #2
Set up: Calli awakes to find Darrien in her room. Darrien believes Calli is his wife reincarnated and he has another chance to keep her safe, but Calli thinks he's a little off. If she only knew...
*The excerpt was modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. There are a few long sentences.
***********************************************************
He tilted his head to the side, keeping his calm and she might have believed he accomplished the feat, but then his eyes glowed like green fire. “You truly do not remember me then?” he asked again.
She was still hung up on his eyes changing colors and it took her a moment to realize he asked her a question. “No, whack-job, I don’t know you. Unless you believed our introduction at the museum was a start of a beautiful friendship.”
His lips pursed and his nose flared, probably due to the name-calling. Maybe she should give that a rest. She had no idea what she was dealing with, but if the man thought it was okay to taser her, it couldn’t be good.
***********************************************************
Calli believes their jolt of electricity had been Darrien tasering her. She's in for a big surprise when she realizes only their touch ignited the spark. And what's up with Darrien's eyes? She hasn't put it all together that Darrien is a Gryphon shifter. Wanna bet it won't take her too long to figure it out?

Snippet Sunday: Confusion Proves Catchy…The Gryphon and His Thief @KMNbooks #8sunday #snippetsunday #SPeekSunday
Welcome to Snippet Sunday. I thought I'd change it up a little this week. I have a new release! So this is a snippet from The Gryphon and His Thief.
If you missed the last weeks snippet from The Gryphon & His Thief, here's the link. Chapter 3 #1
Set up: We're jumping a few paragraphs from last week. Calli awakes to find Darrien in her room and she demands to know who he is and why he's in her room. Darrien believes Calli is his wife reincarnated and he has another chance to keep her safe. Only he's confused why she doesn't recognize him.
*The excerpt was modified to fit the 8 sentence limit. There are a few long sentences.
***********************************************************
"Callista, we must talk," he said. "I am not sure—"
"Who's Callista?" she questioned, interrupting him before he took this further.
"You don't remember me, do you?" he asked. She could see a battle going on inside of him as if he couldn't comprehend why she didn't know him.
Yeah, confusion seemed to be catchy tonight. "For your information, crazier-than-the-mad-hatter-on-a-good-day, my name is Calli. So you have the wrong girl if you think I'm this Callista chick."
***********************************************************
Wrong girl? Darrien doesn't believe so. How will he convince her when she thinks he's a nutter?

New Year’s Blog Hop @KMNbooks #newyearseve #books
New Year's Eve for some is a great time to reflect on the events of the previous year and ponder how the year unfolded. Paying attention to the past gives us a chance to make changes for a better future.
Why do we raise our glasses for a toast to bring in the new year?
Almost every culture — the Hebrews, Egyptians, Persians, Saxons—would pledge honor by raising a glass, but it wasn't always called a toast. The term came about in the 17th century. It was customary to plop a piece of toast or crouton in a drink. It could possibly been a flavoring device or equivalent to us adding an olive, lime, etc to our drinks.
Why do we clink our glasses?
In ancient time, they believe the bell-like noise would drive off the devil.
Another popular belief is that it would give the toasters the greatest pleasure. In the writing world, authors pen tales for the senses. Sight, taste and sound... Toasting provides all three. Sight: Lovely stemmed glasses with bubbly to enjoy. Taste: Depending on how much sugar is added for the secondary fermentation, Champagne will have varying levels of sweetness to whet your palate. Sound: The clinking of glasses like bells to bring in the new year with song.
This year when midnight strikes and 2015 is welcomed, lift those glasses in good cheer. Be forever grateful for your past. It made you who you are today. Love your present for life is a precious gift. And be excited for the future where all your dreams can become reality.
Happy New Year!

Tarot Reading… Stop, Start, Continue… @KMNbooks
My Tarot Reading from Brigit Aine at Paranormal Monday Yahoo Group
1 - Stop - Knave of Pentacles - You are trying to juggle too many things. Slow down, and remember that you are only one woman. You’ve been doing them all, but it is matter of doing lots of things on the surface or doing less things with more meaning.
2 - Start - 2 of Chalices Letting others in and focusing on making relationships healthy and whole and working. Take the time out of all that juggling to go on a date…to meet a friend for coffee and focus just on that time…to let others help you become who you want to be.
3 - Continue - 8 of Chalices - on the road you are on. This is a card that says you are working on letting somethings go, on moving on from them, continue to do so, it is a good place for you to be.
You are trying to do too many things, and while you are getting them all done, you aren’t getting the satisfaction out of them or doing them to the ability you know you can do. You need to let a few go and focus on the ones that are most important to you. While you are doing that letting go, let other people help you. Maybe one of the things you’ve been doing on the surface is your relationships. This is one of the areas to focus on and remember to spend time developing those healthy parts of being with someone, even in friendship. And with, that letting go, it seems you have already started on one of them, maybe a big one, keep going. It is something that needs to be behind you, even if you are the one to move to let it go.
Hope this helps. You have a great New Year ahead of you with lessening of tasks, renewal of relationships and taking something off the plate that shouldn’t there.
Brigit Aine

Brigit,
Thanks so much for the reading. Definitely something I need to work on for the New Year. I do tend to take on too much. Sometimes, I need to be reminded to sit back and relax. Thanks again, and May 2015 bring you much joy and happiness!
