If I don't feel like writing, setting concrete small goals for time spent or words written can help, as can going for a run and then returning to my office. If I'm struggling with a certain section or topic, I make a note in curly brackets and then move on to a different section. When I was editing the book and came to a section that I wasn't happy with and didn't know how to fix, I sometimes stuck it into a folder called "sections removed from manuscript." Those paragraphs and pages still languish there. Some may be revived in a future book and others will never move beyond my computer.(less)
