Astronism, a new cosmocentric religion founded by Cometan in the Omnidoxy
Astronism is a Millettic panentheistic religion based on the belief of cosmocentrism founded by Cometan and codified in the Omnidoxy.
Its adherents, known as Astronists, believe that The Cosmos, as a whole animate entity, must become the central aspect of our spiritual and contemplative lives. It is the world’s newest religion with it being founded in 2013, which is referred to as The Year of The Gift amongst the Astronist community.
Astronism holds its origins in Millettic culture which is itself derived from the writings of Cometan in The Grand Centrality, of which the Omnidoxy, Astronism’s founding treatise, remains an integral element. Astronism is a religion which prioritises logical justification of belief, rational thought, acceptance of opposing beliefs, destiny, faith in The Cosmos, physical wellbeing, and intellectual improvement. Other traditional priorities of religions are not found in Astronism including rituals, initiation ceremonies, matrimonial services, sermons, and the state of one’s soul. These missing elements define Astronic religions from those belonging to other classifications such as Taoic, Abrahamic, and Dharmic religions.
Astronists believe that it is humanity’s solemn and existential purpose to explore The Cosmos both physically and philosophically as part of an eschatological system known as transcensionism. Further to this, they believe that there exists life on other planets in The Cosmos and that a person’s belief must be based on freedom rather than submission to a higher power, thus diverging from traditional theologies.
Astronism is the first and original organised philosophy of the Astronic religious tradition originating from the personage of Cometan, his writings, creative expressions and the events of his life. The Omnidoxy is the religion’s foundational text, and is part of the larger Grand Centrality of the Millettarian Philosophical Tradition which introduces many forms of Astronic cultural elements, theory, literature, and belief. Astronism includes a corpus of original beliefs and concepts attributed to the person of Cometan with some unique divergences in thought and practice from non-Astronic religions.
Within Astronism, there are a huge variety of theological positions which inform a number of different schools of thought, denominations, and belief orientations on various matters of theology and philosophy.
