One of the least expensive, but most valuable gifts

One of the least expensive, but most valuable gifts

One of the least expensive, but most valuable gifts you can give anyone is genuine appreciation.

Always be mindful of opportunities to show appreciation to those you care about. You’ll never know how valuable your sincere appreciation can be until you take the time to express it.

Today is day one.

Today is day one.

You’ve just been handed your life in its current state.

Your health, your skills, your relationships, your job, your education, everything.

So looking at your life today, what is it you want to change?

What is it you want to get better at?

What bad habits do you want to break?

What good habits do you want to adopt?

Does your current life accurately reflect your values of today or are you filling your schedule with activities you would no longer choose to do if you had the chanc...

In a world of critics…

In a world of critics...

It is entirely possible to help people without criticizing them or what they do. It is entirely possible to have a disagreement without being disrespectful. It is entirely possible to teach and guide people without abusing them.

There is no shortage of critics, haters, or people who complain about things that they don’t like. There is, however, a severe shortage of people actively encouraging what they do.

Encouraging what you’d like to see more of is a far more elegant and positive solution th...

Making life changes manageable

Making life changes manageable

Feeling inspired to make some healthy changes?

Remember to start small to keep things manageable. The commitment necessary to consistently making the time to do something new can be just as important as what you choose to do with that time.

People often attempt to do too much before they’re capable of sustaining it or before their body or mental state is ready.

If it’s been a while since you’ve done something physical, it’s likely that doing far less of that activity than you can physically do...

Feeling like no one truly gets or understands you

Feeling like no one truly gets or understands you

If others in your life seem to have an easier time making friends or connecting with people — despite your interest in doing so — it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.

Or if you sometimes feel like no one truly understands or gets you, you’re not alone. Often, this means that “your people” — people like you — are less common (or at least less common where you are) or less likely to indiscriminately reveal their true self to others.

And as much as you may, at times, appreciate your...

Where’s your respect?

Where's your respect?

One of the most significant aspects of living a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life comes down to respect.

Respect for yourself, your body, and your goals. Respect for other people, their property, and their beliefs. Respect for your time and other people’s time. Respect for your relationships, your community, and your environment. And countless other things.

Nearly every important aspect of life deteriorates without respect.

Where is your respect (or lack thereof) reflected in your life?

The p...

People who are really good at hurting people

People who are really good at hurting people

People who are really good at hurting people have often been hurt by people who are really good at hurting people. And sometimes these people use their negative experiences to excuse themselves for behaving badly.

Break the chain. Refuse to let your pain drive you hurt people.

Convert your hurt into compassion for yourself and others. Be the kind of person you wish was there for you when you needed it.

All the right things for all the right reasons

All the right things for all the right reasons

You can be doing all the right things for all the right reasons and still be belittled by those who see things differently than you do.

If you truly believe in yourself and what you’re doing, refuse to let naysayers deter you from working towards your goals.

Keep going.

Being genuinely friendly

Being genuinely friendly to others is the best way to encourage others to be friendly being unfriendly to those who dont reciprocate your friendliness isnt. You show people what you want to see more of by how you act. If you want more kindness in the world, put some there.

A positive reflection

Strive to live in such a way that if someone introduces your name into a conversation, its for reasons that are a positive reflection of what you do or who you are and not because you chose to act poorly or make a spectacle of yourself. Lead by example.
