The Long Way Home, by Marian Ritchie

Five Rivers is pleased to now distribute Marian Ritchie's compelling and informative book, The Long Way Home: A Journey Through Alzheimer's.

The author offers a poignant and penetrating account of her turbulent journey through Alzheimer''s as she cared for her husband, the unwitting protagonist of this tale, focusing on the human and humorous aspects of the situation, rather than on the medical.

· “A compelling story that many patients’ families will benefit from sharing.” – Dr. R.J. Caselli, MD,

Hard Economic Times

The following article by Dr. Robert Runte is reprinted from On Spec Magazine, #76, Vol. 21, no. 1, Spring, 2009.

Layoffs. Fear of massive layoffs.

It's the fear, more than the reality, that's driving the current recession, at least in Canada. And it's that fear that has allowed corporations to extort massive government bailouts. It is worth noting in the midst of the current crisis that nobody is considering bailing out the arts, even though the arts employ substantially more workers than the auto

Great Response in Orangeville

Yesterday's seminar/signing at Coles in Orangeville was a resounding success! Membership from the Dufferin Writers Guild attended, as did others from the area, with mall shoppers stopping in and sometimes staying for the duration. Paul Lima kicked things off discussing the methodology behind his book, How to Write a Non-fiction Book in 60 Days, which was followed by me illustrating my similar practices when handing fiction. We then opened the floor to discussion, which was very intelligent, vibr
