Plans for 2020

The final proofread has been done and the publisher will start work in mid January on The House with a Thousand Stairs.

In the meantime, I'm currently writing the sequel to The Cricketer's Arms, which should see the light of day in mid 2020.

There's also book 2 of The Seventh of December series, edited by my great pal Linda McQueen, which may see the light of day accompanied by a paperback version of the first book.

I have beta reads out for a police procedural, Wheelchair, a contemporary crime fiction story.

Four decent length novels in one year should keep my on my toes. And no, I didn't write them all recently. Two books were written a few years back, but my process of letting stories "ripen" for long periods of time before I revisit them and get them ready for publication means there's a reservoir of stories up my sleeve.

Hope you all have a wonderful and prosperous 2020.

Australia's Son hits the bookshelves

Well, finally Australia's Son has gone live. There's been quite a bit of anticipation among my performing colleagues, especially those who like to read. I'm very happy with the end product and hope everyone enjoys it.

Currently working on the edits for the next book, which will be something completely different. It's a sweeping saga of the Australian outback and focuses on the clash of cultures. The white settlers and the Indigenous traditional owners. There's not a lot of action adventure in this one, but there's a lot of history, family, and not a little love.

Keep your eyes out for The House with a Thousand Stairs next February/March 2020

Australia's Son

My next book, Australia's Son, is now in the process of what used to be called "setting". Mosh Publications are starting to get the paperback and e-book versions ready for publication.

A theatre murder mystery, set in Edwardian Sydney, the book reflects my life upon the stage. What's the point of having had a thirty year professional career as a singer without sharing some of the love of treading the boards. It's NOT autobiographical, but it's a peek into the world of thespianism (is that a word? Well, if it isn't it is now :-) )

Due out early November. You can read a bit about it on my website:

Release day!

The Cricketer's Arms goes live today.

Coogee, 1956, a sleepy beachside suburb in Sydney, home of ex-Detective Sergeant Clyde Smith, a man trying to re-establish a life after the war, the police force, and a broken relationship.

His fledgling career in newspaper journalism takes a sharp right-hand turn when Clyde is asked to investigate the mysterious death of a famous Australian Cricketer.

Take the sandpaper out of your jocks and read about crooked cricket in the days when it was a sport of gentlemen, albeit manipulated behind the scenes by corrupt politicians and mafia ganglords.

Read more about it on my website.

Coming Soon!

The Cricketer's Arms.

Set in Sydney in 1956, The Cricketer's Arms, written well before the sandpaper scandal, is a detective fiction story revolving around sports match-fixing.

It's an action/thriller story, and will be published by Mosh, the same publishers who managed my successful anthology of Australian war stories, The Boys of Bullaroo.

I'll keep everyone posted, but with all things going to plan, the book should hit the shelves in Mid June, early July.
