Some interesting news.
Late last year, I was invited to provide a novella for a summer murder/mystery anthology, based on the two themes of holiday and July.
Of course, in my own inimitable way, I wrote a story set in 1947 when a war veteran travels to Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia to visit the grave of his best friend, killed during the Japanese bombings in 1942.
I had crushing news yesterday that the editor has decided not to go ahead with the anthology (even though he LOVED the story-his caps, not mine). I immediately spoke with my publisher and sent the manuscript. It's to be published on Amazon and KU as an e-book. Only 18k words long, it won't hold up as a paperback.
There's quite a bit of heat in this story, reminiscent of The Boys of Bullaroo. I'll keep you informed as to its release date.

Available as from today
Servants of the Crown is now live on all platforms. and from booksellers worldwide. The Bookshop Darlinghurst in Sydney got advanced copies and they're already selling well.
Next book, The Killing at Candal Creek, the third book in the Clyde Smith mystery series goes to the editor on the 8th of April. Keep your eyes out for its release in October this year.

What I'm up to.
Coming February, 2022 "Servants of the Crown" a Victorian-era spy thriller set in London in 1855 in the last years of the Crimean War.
The third Clyde Smith book "The Killing at Candal Creek" goes to editing in April, so should be issued in the middle of next year.
Same with the third book in the Seventh of December series "Farewell, My Boy", which I'm currently rewriting and hopefully will see the bookshelves in December, 2022.

The paperback and e-book versions will be available on September 3, 2021.
Not sure yet whether there'll be a pre-order or not. The pandemic has really stuffed things around with printers in Australia, so I haven't had a proof paperback yet to approve. But the release date is definitive.

X for Extortion
X for Extortion is the title of the second book in my Seventh of December series.
The book carries on from Tommy's return from Lisbon after having retrieved the Czarina's Necklace and the Nazi atomic program documents. It starts two hours after the end of the last book as the aircraft touches down at Northolt.
Production will start in 3 weeks from now, so the book should be available mid/late August, again as a paperback and in e-book form.
