She's almost there...
If you're waiting for the word on FRIDAY NIGHT BITES, it's coming up in line soon over at Darque Reviews. Kimberly has a great site--and posts multiple reviews every week--so check it out!
I should note that I haven't yet read any reviews of FNB, so I really don't know what folks will think: if they'll like the voice, if they'll like the story, if they'll like Merit's interaction with the rest of the folks in her world. It's a strange thing, waiting for folks to announce to the Interwebs whether

Maybe I'm the weird one.
Random assortment of things I've written about over the course of the last twenty-four hours.
1. Ukrainian-Greco churches2. Least weasels 3. Shepherd's pie-flavored pizza
Writing is such a weird, weird thing. :)

FRIDAY NIGHT BITES sneak preview
I'm trying to get motivated to get in my 1.5K words of TWICE BITTEN ... but while I'm procrastinating, here's a little somethin' somethin' from FRIDAY NIGHT BITES . . .

I could feel her now, a tiger beginning to pace. I could feel her moving, shifting beneath my bones, my muscles beginning to vibrate with it. She wanted my eyes fully silver, my fangs fully descended, my magic spilling through the room. She wanted to take Ethan's words and throw them back, to challenge him with steel.

Some days it's harder than others . . .
[From Sunday:]
As any of you who write surely know, there are some days when the words come freely. When you sit down and can fill half a notebook in a sitting, or when the word count in your electronic file keeps ticking further and further upward.
This weekend has not been one of those times. I'm not sure if it's tiredness--either generally or from staring at a computer most of the hours of every day--but I'm having to pluck out each and every word. Part of the problem is probably that I've be

Great post on YA/MG writing
Lucienne Diver posted a great blog yesterday on writing for the young adult and middle grade markets...
Now, at the Willamette Writers Conference, I heard more young adult and middle
grade pitches than ever before. I sincerely hope this is because these are
the stories calling to the writers and not that they've decided to jump into the
cool pool, because here's the reality: the YA/middle grade market is just as
crowded and as difficult to break into as the adult market. It's simply

2009-2010 Publication Schedule
Here's what we know so far...
Chicagoland Vampires 2 - FRIDAY NIGHT BITES - October 6, 2009
Dark Elite 1 - FIRESPELL - January 5, 2010
and the newest addition ...
Chicagoland Vampires 3 - (Uber fab title currently getting upper level Penguin approval) - July 2010
The bad news is, of course, that you have to wait nearly a year for your next Ethan and Merit installment. BUT, Lily and Scout and Jason and Michael will be introducing themselves to you in January to help you get through that wait. ;)
