NINE DAYS!

I'm starting to get excited--and nervous--about the release of FRIDAY NIGHT BITES. The prelim reviews have been good...let's hope sales are fabulous, so Penguin keeps ordering Merit's adventures. I have lots and lots of stories to tell! :)

* * * WARNING: SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION BELOW * * *
And now for some completely shameless promotion (other than my usual shameless promotion). I've been getting lots of questions lately about doing booksignings in other parts of the country (rather than my...

Thank God It's Friday (Night Bites!) Edition of The Friday Five

Happy Friday, everyone! My big plans for the weekend--getting to 86,000 words on TWICE BITTEN. And, I should have a cover image to share in the very near future!

On with the Five, where I'm giving a little love to the Windy City:

1. Daily Candy Chicago. Have you checked out what's hip today?

2. Macondo. Serious Eats reports they have Chicago's best empanadas.

3. Baconfest. The cookoff hits Chicago on October 24. We know where Merit will be.

4. This is Glamourous visits Chi-Town and brunches as Sou...

Who Needs a Signed Copy of Friday Night Bites?

I'm guest-blogging today over Silk & Shadows ("Dark Times Call for Dark Heroes") about Guilty Pleasures. Take a look-see and leave a comment for the S&S staff. Here's a lil teaser:

As a fan of urban fantasy, romance and paranormal romance, I tried to give
some thought to the guilty pleasures of other characters. Anita Blake has a
collection of penguins, although I'm not sure that's a "guilty" pleasure (book
title notwithstanding). Betsy (of Mary Janice Davison's series) love shoes.
Harry Potter l...

Happy Echo in the Bone Release Day!

For those of you who follow Jamie's and Claire's adventures, happy Echo in the Bone Release Day!

Unfortunately, Mr. Neill has barred me from so much as buying the book until I hit 80,000 words on TWICE BITTEN. I call him an ogre; my agent calls him a genius. Go figure. :)

Two fun interviews today -- and a CONTEST!

I've got two fun interviews today over at A Great Read (Thanks, Jessica!) and Amberkatze's Book Blog (Thanks, Amber!). Be sure to check them out!
As a little reading incentive, I'm giving away a CADOGAN HOUSE GIFT PACK to folks who complete this two-step commenting process:
1. Head over to A Great Read or Amberkatze's Book Blog, check out the interviews, and leave a comment on one of THEIR interviews!
2. When you've done that, head back over here and leave a comment on MY blog telling me what...

Thanks, Racine!

I've been getting a lot of questions lately about booksignings. As new authors don't typically do many booksignings, most of my booksignings to date have been in or near places I've lived (and thus places with a built-in audience).

But I recently got an invitation to attend a discussion and signing at the Barnes & Noble in Racine, Wisconsin, and I can't thank them enough for their hospitality. The store was full to the brim with copies of SOME GIRLS BITE, and the staff was absolutely...
