Halloween Reads - Part I

I'll be guest-blogging at The Knight Agency on Tuesday to chat about some "spooktacular," classic Halloween reads. Each day this week, I'm going to feature one of them.
Today's features is a gothic classic, Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven. Wikipedia reports that The Raven was first published on January 29, 1845. It remains one of my haunting favorites.

. . . Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before
But the...

Meet Scout! (Both of them.)

For those of you who haven't yet seen it, you can now read the first chapter of FIRESPELL online!
And speaking of Scout, one of the heroines of FIRESPELL, please meet the newest member of the Neill family, also named Scout. :) Thanks to everyone at our local humane society, who helped us bring him home!

You'll notice his leash, which actually has firey flames on it, picked out by the ever clever Mr. Neill. They're both sweethearts, as is Baxter, who is currently adjusting to being a big brother.
