5Ks and 13.1 miles

So, I'm planning on walking a half-marathon (13.1 miles) using this handy training chart. My goal is less the actual half-marathon (in Omaha, Des Moines or Midsouth) than completion of the training course. (And I hate running, so walking it is!) I've joined DailyMile, so if anyone else is interested in doing the training, as well, feel free to check in via e-mail.
[And yes--I'm posting about this here in part just for the accountability of it.:]
In other news, I've decided to participate in...

Travel Reading?

When I have a little time to read, I love to read travelogues. I'm about to finish the most recent (curmudgeonly, caustic) Paul Theroux installment, Ghost Train to the Eastern Star,* --which is unfortunately the last (non-fiction) Theroux on my list. So, it was time to find some new travel writers.

I perused the web looking for good travel books, and came across a few lists (which I have now printed and will probably, in truegeek style, highlight and check-off), which I thought I'd share.

Foodie Thursday?

Is it wrong that I want to print out Ming's entire web site in color and slap it in a binder, to be my new cupcake cookbook? Oh, Ming. How lovely thou art. Now, go forth and make cupcakes!

You also have two more days to submit a bid for the Do The Write Thing for Nashville TWICE BITTEN ARC auction.

I can't tell you how flattered I am about the sheer number of contest entries so far and the size of the aucti...

CV4 from Start to Finish - Part II: The Outline

It's time to revisit the creation of Book Four in the Chicagoland Vampires series (tentatively titled HARD BITTEN). I previously talked about preparing and brainstorming, so now we're moving on to the ever-important stage two: the outlining.
It's a bit of a cheat to call outlining the second stage, as this is really a process that will continue all the way through stage three (the actual writing). Sure, I'll start with an outline, but I'll also revise and adapt the outline as I write the...
