The list of top staff leaving the White House increases by two

Two more top-level staffers are leaving the White House. Resignations began in February and as the weeks go by, more are heading for the exits. Up until then it was mostly Kamala’s staff leaving her office in a steady flow. Look for more White House staff to suddenly need more time with the family or secure a more lucrative job in the private sector. November is coming and working in the White House is not going to be so much fun anymore. The latest to announce resignations but not actually leave yet are deputy White House communications director, Pili Tobar and White House climate adviser Gina McCarthy. Both are said to be leaving “soon.” McCarthy announced her resignation two weeks ago but somehow I missed it. It’s good news for those of us who oppose overregulation of the oil and gas industry for the sake of halting exploration and drilling.
Axios is reporting on both of the resignations. Earlier this week, I wrote about Cedric Richmond, director of the White House offic …

Black Voters Give Stunning Response When Asked What Dems Did

A news crew from “Meet the Press” on NBC News went to a rural grocery store in a community of color and asked if the Democrats had done anything for black people.
The responses were revealing.
“F*** no! No!” said one man who walked away as others in the store laughed. “Taking us down through, girl! That’s about it! Taking all our s***! Like the rest of them! Ain’t gonna do nothin for us!”
The segment was introduced as showcasing the problem that Democrats have in canvassing black males to vote for their party, especially in some pivotal rural areas of the country. NBC reporter Antonia Hylton talked to others in the store from North Carolina about why they’re so apathetic about politics.

Oklahoma Passes Texas-Style Abortion Ban
The Oklahoma state legislature passed a “Texas-style” bill Thursday that bans abortion after six weeks of pregnancy.Senate Bill 1503, the “Oklahoma Heartbeat Act,” was authored by Republican state Senator Julie Daniels and state Representative Todd Russ. The bill passed the Oklahoma state House of Representatives 68–12, sending the bill to the desk of Republican Governor Kevin Stitt, who is expected to sign the bill into law in the coming days, the Associated Press reported. The Bill passed the State Senate 33–11 in March. The text of the legislation states that “an abortion may not be performed or induced on a pregnant woman unless a physician has determined, in accordance with this section, whether the woman’s unborn child has a detectable fetal heartbeat.”The bill defines a fetal heartbeat as “cardiac activity or the steady and repetitive rhythmic contraction of the fetal heart within the gestational sac,” which lines up with medical experts who say that a fetal heartbeat can be detected by a vaginal ultrasound between 5 1/2 and 6 1/2 weeks of gestation. The bill then state …

DHS Sec Dumb On Border Terror Suspects

During his second day of testifying before Congress, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said he did not know if terror suspects caught illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border are still in custody or if they were released.House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R‑OH) pressed Mayorkas about 42 terror suspects arrested by Border Patrol since Joe Biden became president.“Are any them still in our country? This is an important question for this committee. Are any of them still in our country?” Jordan asked.“Congressman, I will deliver to you a response with respect…” Mayorkas began to reply.“No, no, that’s a simple question. Are people on the terror watchlist, no fly list, are they still in the United States that you’ve encountered on the border?” Jordan asked.“Congressman, some of them may still be in detention,” Mayorkas s …

Gerrymandering lab data manipulation?

Princeton University is investigating Professor Sam Wang, the head of the Princeton Gerrymandering Project over allegations of data manipulation and complaints that he created a hostile working environment. Wang is a neuroscientist who in recent years has turned his statistical talents to polling analysis and redistricting. Now there are allegations that he was essentially cooking the books to favor outcomes that benefitted Democrats. The backstory here is that a retired New Jersey Supreme Court Justice named John E. Wallace, Jr. was asked to listen to presentations from both Democrats and Republicans and select maps presented by one side or the other. Wallace eventually selected the maps put forward by Democrats claiming it was less p …

Elon Musk teases buying more companies, including Coca-Cola…

Following his purchase of Twitter for $44 billion, Tesla CEO Elon Musk teased buying more iconic American companies in order to ostensibly restore them – even suggesting that he might buy Coca-Cola in order to reintroduce cocaine into the ingredients of the soft drink.
“Next I’m buying Coca-Cola to put the cocaine back in,” Musk quipped in a late-night tweet Wednesday.
A Twitter user responded by sharing a photo of the first publicly-sold bottle from 1894 – a product that contained 3.5 grams of cocaine. “Bring it back,” the user added.

Major disappointment: Economy shrank at 1.4% annual rate in first quarter

GDP contracted at a 1.4% annualized rate in the first quarter, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Thursday morning, meaning that slowing commerce added to the woes of high inflation.
The decline in GDP, which is adjusted for inflation, is a major reversal from the previous quarter, when growth soared to a 6.9% rate as businesses began healing faster from the pandemic.
Friday’s report means that President Joe Biden now has to contend with economic contraction in addition to the soaring inflation that has strained households and driven down his approval ratings.
Still, details within Thursday’s report showed that underlying momentum is stronger than the headline number would make it seem. Much of the decline in the first quarter was driven by a surge in imports, which subtract from GDP but don’t mean that the drivers of growth are weak. A decline in businesses buying inventories also shaved about 0. …
