“Synchronicity” is this weeks Weekly Word – Can you think of different way to use the word?

Firstly, huge apologies for not sticking to my schedule last week and missing out a weekly word post; events, as they say, overtook and I couldn’t post. It won’t happen again, promise :-)

I’m also sticking with the letter ‘S‘ this week as the word is going to be Synchronicity. This was the word I was going to do before synergistic mysteriously used my fingers to type itself into the headline of the post. Perhaps though, there was a synchronistic reason for not using it because it is highly appro...

Friday Fictioneers – Reality brought forth

On Tuesday I posted about how I felt about negative reviews on Amazon UK and amongst the many comments received was one from a friend of mine here in Dorset, Harvey Taylor (of www.socraticprojects.com) who suggested, rather than abandon fiction altogether that perhaps we consider writing something together, starting with a short story. So, this week’s offering for Madison Woods Friday Fictioneers challenge is a collaborative effort between Harvey and I; I wonder if you can spot which line bel...

The Thursday Throng Author Interview and BOOK GIVEAWAY with Mike Meyer, author of Covert Dreams

I must admit that it can seem that I favour women authors in my Thursday Throng interviews as to date I’ve only interviewed one other man, the very lovely Michael Cargill; but it’s not strictly true, it’s just that few men seem to want to take part. Anyway, I have a real treat for my male readers as this week I’m hosting Mike Meyer, the author of Covert Dreams and I know that his book is doing pretty well on Amazon at the moment, so one lucky commenter is going to be in for a real treat when...

Lesson Learned in June – on developing a very thick skin!

Once again the world has turned and I have with it; we are through another month and my perspective shifts and changes once again. June has been a bit of an upside down month with both highs and lows; through it all there has been one very clear message, one which tells me I need to develop a very thick skin.

Back in May I tried an experiment, which was to make one of my books free for five days on the Kindle platform. The book in question was my first novel ‘ Woman on the Edge of Reality‘ and...

Friday Fictioneers – Revenge is a dish best served cold

Over the last few weeks I’ve shown a very soft side to my weekly post for Madison Woods Friday Fictioneers challenge and this time I decided to explore my darker side to see if I can actually tap into it. The picture is perfect to do this and I was inspired by something immediately I saw it.

The Thursday Throng Author Interview with Sue Brayne, author of Sex, Meaning and the Menopause

Well, it’s that time of the week again when I welcome another author to join me for the Thursday Throng and this week we have the pleasure of hosting an author of a book on a subject that is very close to my heart, the menopause. You may or may not know but I run an organisation called The Hysterectomy Association and so the menopause features heavily in discussions among our members on regular basis, the subject of sex probably runs a very close second. The book is Sex, Meaning and the Menop...

Which LinkedIn Groups are best for Authors and Writers

Yesterday, I wrote about how LinkedIn doesn’t seem to figure that highly on the radar of many authors I come across. I surmised that this was because they may not realise just how useful it could be to them and I have made it my mission to help change that view into something a little more positive. You can find more of my LinkedIn posts on the Marketing for Authors Page.

Today I want to introduce you to the best LinkedIn Groups for Authors and Writers – it was going to be ten but I’ve whittle...

Marketing for Authors & Writers: Social Networking Can Work for Me? Yes it can work for YOU!

I’m in the middle of a series of weekly (?) posts about how Authors and Writers could use LinkedIn more effectively if they wanted to and tomorrow I’ll be putting up a post about the Top Ten Groups for Writers and Authors. You can read the earlier posts on the Marketing for Authors and Writers page.

I’ve noticed two things from the posts I’ve already written; first very few people have commented on the posts and secondly those that have, have been less than enthusiastic. This makes me think tha...

“Synergistic” is this weeks Weekly Word – Can you think of different way to use the word?

This week the Weekly Word is Synergistic. I have no idea why I chose this word as I was going to use something else until the moment I started typing out the title of the post and somehow it popped out. But, before we start the challenge I’d like to offer you a suggestion, think of a word – any word – now think about how it sounds, what each bit of it means in today’s language and sometimes you might find that the word no longer fits the meaning or you can come up with something funny in its...

Friday Fictioneers – Gramp’s and Me

Gramp’s and Me is my take on this weeks photo prompt for Friday Fictioneers, the weekly challenge to writers and bloggers set by the amazing Madison Woods on her blog which you can find at Madison-Woods.com.

Gramp’s and me spent hours in his workshop.

I remember my neck would crick as I looked up at him sitting at his workbench on the old bar stool he’d found in a skip, from my place on the upturned bucket in the corner; watching in wond...
