Meet Steve Bellinger, author of The Chronocar

This week, I’d like to introduce Steve Bellinger, who discovered Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Arthur C. Clarke and the other masters of classic science fiction. After being hooked by their stories, he began writing everything from newspaper articles, comic strips and radio drama to short stories and fan fiction. The Chronocar is his latest novel.

What is one thing that no-one would usually know about you?

In the late 1970’s I was one of a very few truly independent radio drama producers. I...

The quantum of thought

In an earlier post (If this then that – why life is the way it is!) I began to explain how I’d come to find out about the three principles and the journey of discovery I’ve had so far. On a recent Liberate your Thinking retreat in Weymouth with very lovely Caroline Brewer, Liz Scott and Stu Newberry I found myself talking about the quantum nature of thought and Liz challenged me to find a way of explaining what I meant as it was pretty garbled at the time.

Thought comes and thought goes; in o...

Meeting Mandy Huggins, author of Brightly Coloured Horses

This week, I’d like to welcome Mandy Huggins back to the Woman on the Edge of Reality. Mandy first appeared here after taking part in the Hysteria Writing Competition and then volunteering as a judge in the flash fiction contest. She is an award winning writer of flash and short fiction and this is Mandy’s first anthology of Flash Fiction.

What is one thing that no-one would usually know about you?

Hmmm, I’ve been asked this before, and I can never think of a single thing. I’m a straight-tal...

If this then that – why life is the way it is!

I titled this piece, If this then that, after an automation service that businesses and individuals can use to reduce the manual processing of ‘data’ and other actions. You decide what you want to automate, for example I might decide that I need to update a database when someone fills in a form on my website. Normally, I’d get the information by email and then copy and paste it into my database, but ITTT automates the task, leaving me with precious time to do something more interesting instea...

An interview with Akhil Sharma author of I Am A Failure

This week, I’d like to introduce author Akhil Sharma to you with his rather unusually titled motivational book ‘I am a failure‘. According to his website he is a renowned award losing entrepreneur. In his decade long career, right from being a mariner, selling credit cards to being a technologist, he is blessed to have failed almost every time. Specially designed for failure, he is using his extensive experience to conduct ‘the art of failure’ workshops through which he has helped individuals...

Planning your blog posts

I don’t know about you, but I sometimes struggle to know what to say on the various blog posts I write across the web and this one is no exception; in fact, it’s why it’s now mostly author interviews. But all that is about to change ….! More coming soon about that.

One standby trick that has stood me in good stead through the years is tying stories and posts into what’s going on in the wider world. Now, there are lots of different ways to do this; you could do an online search, you could set...

How do you choose a Mentor?

Choosing a mentor is a process of elimination and understanding of both your needs, and your mentors abilities. There a number of considerations that you need to think about before embarking on the process, but it is very rewarding relationship when conducted in the right spirit.

The fastest way to success, whether personally or in business, is to understand the lessons that others have already taken on board. The quickest route to this sort of information is often through the use of a mentor...

Meet Gail Aldwin, author of the short story collection, Paisley Shirt

Hi, this week I’d like to welcome Gail Aldwin to the Thursday Throng. Gail writes every day and loves to see her stories change direction and become more textured through redrafting and editing. Alongside the slog of completing a novel, she enjoys playing with short fiction and poetry.

What is one thing that no-one would usually know about you?

Spending two years in the highlands of Papua New Guinea is one of my best-kept secrets. I lived in the town of Wabag, Enga Province where tribal figh...

Meet Pamela Sommers, author of Life Lessons From a 40 Something

Pamela Sommers takes the front seat in this week’s Thursday Throng author interview. Her book, Life Lessons from a 40 Something, is a little like writing a letter to your (much) younger self. Full of hints and tips to help you become the best you can be.

What is one thing that no-one would usually know about you?

I used to play the violin.

How did you choose a title for your book?

I wanted to share my real-life experiences to help and inspire others and as I am over 40, ‘Life Lessons from a...
