Excitement Brewing for Sunnyside Road (Paradise Dissembling)
The book launch for Sunnyside Road (Paradise Dissembling) is scheduled for Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the Springfield Country Club, West Springfield, in western Massachusetts. The event is exciting, especially because this country club is similar to the one mentioned in all three of the ‘Evil Exists in West Side Trilogy’. The setting of the trilogy is in a fictional city/town adjacent to Springfield and the characters feel like our neighbors but are truly a composite of no one...

Labor Day Means What Today……….
When i was a kid Labor Day meant the end of summer and the start of school. My father explained to me that it was a very important holiday; that it was a recognition that workers and the work they do were valuable. As all great holidays surfaced, this one has history, is important; the people wanted recognition for their work and they marched and lobbied for that respect. In 1894, Labor day became a federal holiday.
Today the children are in school long before Labor Day and filled with the ne...

Hot Time Tonight
I just had dinner with some colleagues from my academic past. We sat in the pub and with a drink and some food enjoyed the camaraderie that only long time friends can give. We discussed or shall I say argued politics, culture, religion, experience, and life in general. It seems to me that there is nothing that is able to replace the fun of a group celebrating life together. We need to do that more often; all of us. What is better than the interchange among people? Each new idea offered is a s...

Well, readers, tomorrow is opening day for MGM gambling Casinos in downtown Springfield, the first major gambling casino to open in Massachusetts. Anticipate traffic as the casino complex takes up four central city blocks and is adjacent to the Hampden County courthouses in Springfield. What will this mean? Certainly it offers a rejuvenation of some of the downtown buildings with new shops, seven cinemas, a hotel, casinos, parking garages, and more. The surrounding area has been upgraded and...

Landscape as a Prop or More
I often think about the landscape as a background for murder, serial murder, or other crime. I have a very broad view of the meaning of the word landscape. Murder in an auto park garage is common in the movies. How common is it in life? We understand its use in the movies. Think about it as a backdrop for murder: dark with low lighting, autos surround, absence of people. It is a cue to inherent lonliness that creates fear.
How many evil deeds existing in our society are perpetrated by people...
Rain, Rain, Rain
Sparkling raindrops and I felt the romance of the moment as they glistened like diamonds on the elephant ears in my garden. And then, like my murderers, they turn from gentle to a deluge of hate. They blocked sewer drains clogging them with depris drained from the street gutters. Underground water rose up and interfered with all human efforts made by the installation of sump pumps in basements. The pumps just couldn’t keep up with the volume of rain water.
Reality hurts sometimes. In my immed...
