Back to my roots?

My current WIP is sent in a location which is a mashup of my origins.

WIP

About a quarter of the way through my current WIP. Ought to be done by spring 2019. I wonder if it will take thirteen lunar months to edit, like my last work...

Qui est la femme?

This is me as a character from The Nighttide Of Summerlong. This isn't one of the main protagonists and she isn't named until the story is almost over. (I actually hadn't thought of her name until then.)

Continuing

Just sent a paperback copy of my novel to my former secondary school English teacher. When I was about 13, she got me to read an essay entitled "Out Of This World" at the front of the class. The first person narrator was an animal/human hybrid. Now, he's a minor, entirely human character in my novel.

My next novel should be completed by spring 2020.

The Original Plan

Reverting to my original plan. I've started work on the story set in a place like my birthplace.

Once Were Werewolves

Funny how my characters who were originally supernatural beings became regular, mundane human beings.

Well, in the story that I'll begin by spring 2020, the central protagonist lives in a house very like my aunt's in Malaysia.

I stayed there in the summer of '89. I was reading Tanith Lee's The Silver Metal Lover at the time.

Originally, the central protagonist was a subsidiary character, but things shifted around, so that the original central protagonist now occupies a less central role.

Another...

It's on

Edited shot of a friend (who wasn't posing in character for me that time) and me in character. Neither of us looks like the characters I seek to embody.

Next

I've decided: I'll start the sci-fi story first. I've actually made a start on both stories, but not properly.

Back in the summer of 2016, whilst I was still studying, I began work on the story which was originally about werecreatures. However, after an exchange with a beautiful young Swedish man, I realized that The Nighttide Of Summerlong had to come first.

Now, I had intended to make a start on the werecreatures next, but after an exchange with a lovely friend (who kindly posed as the centra...

The Nighttide Of Summerlong: Behind The Scenes

I found writing The Nighttide Of Summerlong very rewarding not just because it was my first shot at a proper novel which was to be published, but also because I drew heavily upon real places and locations that I have known.

For example, Claudia's house is a mash-up of three different houses: the house that my father moved into after my mother divorced him (and which she had bought with her own money and gave to him!), the house of my mother's former boss (whose youngest daughter I became frien...
