I don't like to skip ahead to the fun stuff because I know how hard it will be to come back and connect it all together later. I force myself to write the transition that I'm feeling bleh about, and this disinterest can lead to a block.

I've seen people recommend stepping away and coming back later. They'll say "Clear your mind. Do it when your inspiration comes back." I do not recommend this method. Writing a novel requires a lot of pushing forward, and giving yourself an out to stop writing is a dangerous game.

My advice is to just keep trudging forward. Write the uninspired, boring section that you don't want to write. It can be edited later. What normally happens for me is I'll write 200 words the I hate, but then I'll find an interesting thread to start pulling on. Once I know where I'm going with the scene, I can fix the uninspired section. (less)

Deborah and I are doing writing sprints today. This is the first time we've set aside a big chunk of time to competitively co-write.
