First post of 2019, yahoo! Volume 3 is 50% complete, wahoo!
Hello world! I missed you all very much! It’s the first blog post of 2019 here on the Blog of Mofu, so let’s cut right to the chase!
As you already know by today’s totally subtle title, the 3rd Volume of my debut rom-com light novel series My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?! has officially reached the halfway mark! That’s right, I wasn’t kidding when I said that I wouldn’t keep you wonderful readers waiting for too long in Volume 2’s afterword! How exciting! This is of course, strictly referring to the manuscript of Volume 3. Even when I finish writing it, lots of stuff needs to be neatly trimmed, tidied and finalized for your reading enjoyment! It’s quite the time-consuming process, but I do wholeheartedly believe that it’ll be worth the wait!~ Now I don’t want to talk too much about what happens, since new readers might lurk into here and spoil the first 2 installments, however this will likely be the only update I have for you folks until Volume 3’s release, because I’d much rather be writing this series than talking about it. N-Not that I don’t enjoy it… but it’d be pretty bad if the word count of my blog somehow exceeded that of the whole series…
Anyway, Volume 3 will be quite different from its predecessors. This of course is due to certain events that occurred in the 2nd volume. For starters, the majority of this episode will be told from Hiro’s perspective. Now this doesn’t mean that our overly caring best friend turned into main heroine doesn’t appear or doesn’t play a major role at all-- she is the protagonist after all! But things may or may not have played out as she wanted, and well, I do feel like a good romance story needs a healthy dose of drama to shake things up a little! Don’t fret if you’re here for the fluff and humor, because that trademark content is still present at large. In fact, I’d say this Volume contains some of the cutest and most ridiculous scenes out of the whole series so far! I will certainly never forget staying up late at night and having my frozen winter-enduring heart melted into soft warm putty as I wrote some parts of the first chapter, hehe. There’s a lot of stuff that I’ve been to yearning to write dawning back to when the idea of this story was first hatched in my head that is finally coming to fruition here! This entry will certainly be more main plot focused, so those of you who are looking for that will be quite pleased, I think.
Well, another milestone has been achieved for this humble series of mine and I couldn’t be anymore thankful for being given the opportunity to reach it! My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?! Volume 2: Doki Doki School Days came out just a bit before the holiday break and it has already exceeded my expectations in terms of readership. Seriously, thank you so much for supporting my series, it really, REALLY does make a massive difference for a small writer like me when you review it, share it with others who might be interested or just read it! I do hope that those of you who do enjoy it will stick with me for the rest of the journey! Writing this crazy over-the-top, but heartwarming gender bender love story has been quite the trip, yet I am so very happy to share it with you.
Well, that’s it for this time, I’ll never get sick of thanking you wonderful folks and I can’t wait to see you when the next iteration goes live! Let’s take another look at this incredible cover artwork done by the official artist, shall we? Alice seriously outdid herself, I do believe that the success of this series owes a lot of credit to her mastery of all things cute. Working alongside her has been a treat and I’m really excited to see what the next cover will look like! I guess we’re all just going to have to wait and see! Volume 3 is looking to release sometime next month, so keep your eyes peeled in this space!

I'm back with updates on Volume 4's whereabouts!
Hello, everynyan! Long time no see, quite some time has passed since my last post, no? Well, after a quick excursion to the great Mofujin Moon in the sky, I have returned with some exciting updates for you all! Let’s get right to it, shall we?
Volume 4 of My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?! is nearly finished, (about 95% complete) yahoo! However, that is as a manuscript, unfortunately... The good news is that polishing and editing from this state to being ready for release, doesn’t take much time at all due to how carefully written the draft is! Since I need to get back to work real soon, I’ll leave you with some non-spoilerific tidbits about this exciting addition to my beloved series!
- Nearly all of the volume is from Tomo’s perspective! Although these volumes are planned long in advance, it sounds like readers very much prefer our best friend turned main heroine, which I agree with! Volume 3 was indeed a deviation from the norm, however there is still a sliver of Dense Main Character-kun present for those who do appreciate him!
- Wordcount-wise, Volume 4 will be longer than the first 2 volumes, but likely not as long as Volume 3. I mean it’s possible that something miraculous will happen during editing, however I want to get to work on Volume 5 as soon as possible, so I’ll be more focused on polishing what’s already established.
- This is arguably the comfiest/cutest volume of the series thus far. I very much wanted this book to be a return to what makes this series most endearing, the lighthearted fun harem hijinks, fluffy wholesome romance, and the struggles of Tomo dealing with her new circumstances. Although it seems like the most slice-of-life entry out of the stories, don’t let that fool you into thinking that it’s filler! Every interaction matters, and has meaning to events and encounters that will occur later on! It’s that sort of attention to detail that often prolongs releases, but it’s worth it for the sake of quality!
- The cover is not finished yet (which is also another reason for the delay) due to an unforeseen series of unfortunate events happening back-to-back to the wonderful official artist… Please do send some positive vibes her way, she is going through a rough time. This cover will feature Kana and an important new addition to our imminently crowded cast of colorful characters!
- Although there are a few school scenes, due to this being a rom-com in a standard modern setting, I wanted this volume to focus on Tomo’s life at home, and mostly have interactions that happen outside of the classroom this time.
Phew… With that, I need to get back to writing! I deeply apologize for the delay, and thank you all for your patience and support! You can expect Volume 4 to release sometime next month and I’ll let you all know when a date is cemented, a week or so in advance!

As you all may already know, I recently hired an artist to illustrate My Best Friend is Dense Harem Main Character-kun, But Why am I the Heroine?!
Well, that's true, but I also asked them to do this special Halloween piece to celebrate the wonderful occasion! BEHOLD!
Aaaaa, so cute, I absolutely love her portrayal of Tomo's matchmaking cupid obsession!
YayaChan will be illustrating the series from now on and I'm super excited to be working with such a talented artist! Also, Alice will still be doing the covers and character designs as usual, so don't worry about that!
Volume 1 is almost fully illustrated and you can expect all of the scenes to be of a comparably high quality! As for Volume 4 - it should be ready soon, and I'll make another post about that closer to its release!
