When I think of words I think of it as a rhythm. There is a subtle rhythm that beats when you read. One you probably don’t even notice. With each of my books I’m bringing you into that rhythm.

Rereading Linda Lael Miller’s Corbin series.

Read Banner O’Brien.

This book and series are some of my favorite I reread. Always enjoy it. The books are so good and build on each other. I enjoy the characters. I love this book and the series.

A awesome writing week. I made good progress on my book.

Between the Covers ~ Snow

Today’s Between the Covers is an excerpt from Snow, Enigma, Book #1. Enjoy.

Snow materialized her gun and slid it into her holster. Her swords were next appearing on her back and settling against it. At her hip her whip curled ready for use. In the next moment she shimmered and then seconds later came back to form. Instinct made her shift then she pivoted swinging her leg and bringing the heel of her shoe inches from the face before her. The man didn’t even blink those lavender eyes. A slow smile curled his lips showing of dimples on each side that only made him more devastatingly gorgeous. He lifted his hand and touched the tip of her shoe then left it there.

Narrowing her eyes Snow completed her study of him. His hair matched his eyes and against his sun-kissed skin it made him seem otherworldly. This was a feat since there was all manner of beings walking around in the world. Ever since that day in 2028 when all non-human beings had finally gotten rights to be considered a living being even though some of them were technically dead they no longer had a reason to hide in the shadows. Now here they were in the early winter of 2063 and all things their council had deemed that humans were to know about walked around with the same rights as anyone else. Watching him she couldn’t get a sense of what he was and that wasn’t a good sign at all. Especially since he was a stranger to her. One who was outside the very institution she was going to. The man’s smile widened and he stroked his finger along the tip of her shoe. Snow stiffened almost feeling as if he was touching her in places he had no right to. You didn’t mess with a woman’s shoes without permission.

“Stop playing with the shoe, Kyrian,” A woman said. “I didn’t know you had a shoe fetish.”

That familiar voice made Snow grit her teeth and wish she had come with her weapons drawn.

“Some shoes yes.” The man in front of her replied in a silky voice with a lyrical accent.

Scottish. Snow wondered who he was.
