INSPIRATION: Judah & the Lion – Take It All Back
I like the name “Judah”. I like the song. Listening to the song makes my brain roil. In a good way. I just need a conflict…July 26, 2018

They came from everywhere.
Some strode into town, boisterous and boasting and flush with spoils and triumph. Others marched past, tattered and tired and rich only in experience. More often than not, however, were the others who limped in, battered and broken and lost, either in body or spirit or, in the worst cases, in both.
Regardless of consequence, New Angeles provided them all a safe haven.
Relatively speaking.
“Sonuva misbegotten salamander!”
“Language!”
“Well, you try to get this frekki...

neitzsche to the rescue
I refuse to let this thing beat me.
Even though I haven’t slept well in weeks, sometimes going days without. Even though I feel my body breaking down and falling into disrepair: my eyes don’t work, my skin itches, my nails are brittle, my hair is limp. Even though I’ve been plagued with fits of utter despair and sadness in the late hours and I cry silently into my pillow half-hoping someone will hear me and help me while half-dreading that someone actually will. Even though I feel fat and lis...

behold, the Snippets!
Sometimes, late at night (or, let’s be in honest, more often than not in the shower because that’s the most inconvenient place for inspiration to strike and that’s just my luck), I’ll be slapped in the face with a fun idea for a story. Nothing fleshed out and nothing mind-blowing, of course. Sometimes, it’s just a character sketch. Too fleeting to be a WIP but good enough to be considered.

I’ve been having more and more of these lately. I think it’s my brain’s way of acknowledging that I wan...

what happens when the hype beast dies
Whoa.
Did I just inadvertently monger some clickbait up in here?
I did mean “hype beast” literally, and not the clothing label, so my apologies to people who thought otherwise. I actually wanted to discuss the line between cavalier nonchalance and nauseating self-pandering.
Damn. I’m doing it again. Speaking in words no one cares to work to understand.
Okay, rephrasing…
What happens when the initial flurry of novelty and excitement has died down? Do you die down with it? Or do you constantly...

How to watch every Marvel movie and TV show in the perfect order – CNET
Before Ant-Man and The Wasp this week, here’s how to watch every Marvel Cinematic Universe property in order.
Source: How to watch every Marvel movie and TV show in the perfect order – CNET
This is what happens when “watch all the movies in the MCU” is on your daughter’s summer to-do list. You get sucked back into the hype and remember how much of a fangirl you are. I promise this’ll be the last Marvel post for a while.

to revise or not to revise?
So enough time has elapsed since the initial flurry of purchasing No Great Matter, and several eager beavers have not only completed the reading of it, they’ve also very kindly pointed out some mistakes that somehow slipped through the cracks.
(p. 33) Harrison’s curriculum – missing the s in ‘Harrison’s’ (p. 274) So, Nick, I’m sure you’ve heard – was mis-typed as ‘you’re’ (p. 351) Nick says he wants to be – missing the s in ‘wants’ In Chapter 6, Evie shouldn’t have been able to log on to her...July 5, 2018
which marvel character are you?
Because it was 4th of July yesterday and I didn’t have a moment for musings, here’s a quiz instead, which is Edwards approved for its aesthetic and myriad choices:
TAKE ME!My results always end up with this:

but Spiderman and Bruce Banner came in a close second and third. I really wanted Cap, but I guess I’m just not loyal and patriotic enough.

why i don’t like writing circles
Maybe I’m just a snob. An elitist. It’s been my modus operandi for surviving as a stranger in a strange land after all.
When I immigrated to America and was made fun of for my accent and lack of pop culture knowledge or recess games skills, I found solace in convincing myself I was the superior being: a far smarter, faster and overall better person than any of my persecutors. It was my version of Hodgson Burnett”s A Little Princess, although my situation was clearly not as dire and I never d...

David Fletcher – Chapter One/Two?
AUTHOR’S NOTE: If anyone wanted to chime in and be beta on this, my concerns are as follows: Does this bit fit as part of Chapter One? Or does it stand on its own as Chapter Two? Also, where do I go from here? How would you like this resolved? What scene would best fit? The initial draft had the boys joining their father at the dinner table for more sly info-dumps/world building/character development. Thanks in advance for any comments.
By the time a towel-clad David had trudged to his room...
