This Heart of Mine by Brenda Novak

I just finished This Heart of Mine by Brenda Novak. I so enjoyed this book on so many levels. The heroine is an ex-con and I thought how is the author going to redeem this woman but I liked Phoenix from the get go and had tears in my eyes by page three.  The story is gritty and steamy and tender.  Funny and sad, as well. I liked the small town of Whiskey Creek and the other characters that rounded out the cast. I rooted for Phoenix at every turn of the page and was so satisfied when she finally claimed her happily ever after. I highly recommend this book.   http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OYCW4RW/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?ie=UTF8&btkr=1
And as you can see This Heart of Mine has garnered accolades:

All she wants to do is return to Whiskey Creek and get to know her son. But Jacob’s father isn’t exactly welcoming.Riley doesn’t trust Phoenix, doesn’t want her in Jacob’s life. He is, however, ready to find someone to love. And he wants a good mother for his son. He has no idea that he’s about to find both!

A Spring Giveaway

Happy Spring!I love this time of year. Everything is blooming, the sun is shining here in Oregon and there's a sense of wonder and newness to each day.  April also sees the release of my newest book, Protect and Serve, book 1 of the Rookie K-9 Unit continuity series. I wrote a post for MTL--More to Life about how a continuity works. Here's the link if you'd like to read the post. http://mtlmagazine.com/the-story-behind-the-story-in-terri-reeds-novel-protect-and-serve/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

In honor of release day my publisher made these cool graphics.
And a reader made this neat meme
I love dogs and soon we'll be adding a new one to our family.  We're waiting on a little red merle Australian shepherd.

We think our sweet little Bichon/Laso will be happy to have some company.
Who'd like to win a copy of Protect and Serve? I will give this little gift to one randomly drawn commenter on April 10th.

Research and Reality.

Last week my daughter and I attended the Washington County Sheriff's department's self-defense class for women. I took it for two reasons: research and for the reality of the world we live in.  The class was intense and informative and so worth the time.  I recommend every woman take a self defense class. If you live in the Portland area here's the link.

I was told the next class will be in May so keep watch the beginning of April for sign ups. You don't have to be in Washington County to attend.
For those of you who live in other areas, check with your county sheriff's department or police department to see what they offer.
