Thursday From The Road
I'm in San Diego getting ready for my signing on Saturday at Mysterious Galaxy (visit website for details) and spending a couple of days with my darling sis, Connie. Much talking, laughing and consuming of Mexican food is ensuing. I also found out that Saturday Margaret Coel is signing right ahead of me so it's Colorado author day at MG....

Big report on the 2010 Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers Colorado Gold conference. But first:

The week after...
a book release is a nerve-wracking time. To writers and readers, it's a new book. To the publishing world, it's business. The bottom line above all. Well, it looks like Chosen is doing well enough to have made #16 on the bookscan list for fantasy. A nice beginning and a reflection on the loyalty of Anna's readers. I thank you all.
I'm still in promo mode. DragonCon last weekend was fun but exhausting. I came down with a head cold the day after I got back and since I have two more trips and sig...

The return of Annie Kincaid and Hailey Lind
Mario here:

Last week, Jeanne had the inaugural signing for her newest book, Chosen. In her usual classy style, Jeanne gives a silent retort to my many witty comments.

PJ Brown of Heroes Only Comics and Games in Cheyenne, Wyoming, graciously invited me to his store for a signing.
I was asked what books I was reading. An interesting question because I'm currently reading this...

And coincidentally, we at Biting-Edge are proud that we scored this exclusive interview with one of the authors of span

Brain Dead in Denver
Hey friends-- this will be abbreviated because I'm still in a fugue state after last night's signing at the Tattered Cover-- the first for Chosen. It was wonderful-- old friends and new and lots of books walked out the door... well, hopefully they were paid for by the folks walking them out the door but you get the idea. I know there are lots of pictures floating around and I heard a rumor that Tom Lawson took video so when I get a copy I'll share.

Survived the geeky Bubonic Plague
Mario here:
I barely survived this year's Bubonicon (yes, named after the bubonic plague, and the mascot is Perry the Rat). Con number 42. The first one was held in 1969. Where were you then?
Unfortunately for us, the hotel was undergoing renovation, which meant the restaurant and the bar were closed. Horrors! But the local contingent of Trekkies sailed to our rescue. Details further on down.

Bubonicon, ho!!!!
I'm looking forward to this weekend--spending time with Mario even. Since I've spent the last two days sending out postcards announcing the release of Chosen, I need some R & R. And we know Mario is always good for a laugh.
Speaking of R & R, a trailer for Season Two of Vampire Diaries. I've been watching this on reruns this summer and I do like it.

Life, the Universe & Everything, as explained by a giant rodent.
Mario here,

This week, the Biting-Edge global corporate headquarters will be deployed in toto to Albuquerque, NM for Bubonicon 42, August 27-29. I'm the Toastmaster.

The prolific writer of everything from comics to novels to screenplays, Peter David is the Guest of Honor.

Fantasy artist and medical illustrator Sarah Clemens is Guest Artist.

Killing the Cobra issue #3 is hot off the press. My next signing is at Heroes Only Comics in Cheyenne, WY, September 4, 1-5PM.

Not as Lucky as Mario...
But there was lots of news floating around this week. I'm not even going to touch the Barnes and Noble debacle. You're all probably sick of it by now. B & N is supposed to be going into a new local shopping mall at Southglenn but I think that project is on hold.
