Productive day for a book hoarder at the Friendicoes Yard Sale at Select Citywalk today. Everything (except the Rupi Kaur) for a grand total of Rs 500. Some FANTASTIC books for sale and I only didn't buy them because I own them already. Plus some pretty serving bowls and a cocktail jug. You must go. On today and tomorrow, all the money goes to shelter upkeep so you're helping the puppies too. #adoptANDshop #bookstagram #tbrpile

Two Sagittarians enjoying a centaur night out on the town a few days ago. Yeah obvs I don't believe in astrology, coz I'm a rational human being she says defensively but @samitbasu and I were born two years and one day apart and we have a lot in common so um, take that, skeptics.(we're going to ignore the fact that I have a lot in common with several of my other friends who are not December born in the interest of this experiment) #archers #authorsofinstagram #friendsarenicethingstohave

I may be a cat owner (okay, okay, owned by cats) but dogs were my first love and my first real pets. I remember all my mongrel friends well, Doogie and Cookie, Bobo who was sort of an Alsatian and how much I loved them and how much they loved me. I had to have this book. It's not quite the history of the pi dog as I was hoping but so much about India's history with dogs and gorgeous photos of indigenous breeds that aren't popular with city dog owners but look so much like the street dogs on every corner you're not even surprised. Did you know that there's a temple for this one brave dog in Madhya Pradesh? Did you know that you'd still have a purebred if you bought one of these dogs and you'd spend less on vet bills than you do on your huskies and your St Bernard's? OK, I'll stop lecturing, but read off. #nowreading #bookstagram #150in2017 #mrmbookclub

Last night we made bread. Here it is, the crowning glory of my domestic achievements. Like in Louisa May Alcott's Eight Cousins, where the orphaned Rose learns those pinnacles of housewifeliness: bread and buttonholes. It's not very beautiful, our bread, but it tastes divine; yeasty and rich, the rye flour is dense, the crust is crisp, the insides just soft enough and I just had a slice this morning for breakfast and everyone should have fresh bread. It makes you feel so self sufficient to make it yourself, like a pioneer or something. And to repeat one of the few German phrases my language app has taught me: das brot ist lecker. #domesticgoddess #baking #smug

When life (or Big Basket) gives you not so sweet pineapples, turn them into pineapple upside down cake! I feel very hawaiian (fitting since I have spent the whole day sitting around in my bathing suit) and also very 70s which is why the filter. Turned out delicious too, even though I only had one egg so used a vegan hack (ground flaxseed and water). Don't ask me how much butter went into this though. #definitelynothealthfood #healthfoodisboringthough #butterislife #baking #domesticgoddess #illdietwhenimdead

A book I've been wanting to read for a very long time Selfish, Shallow And Self Absorbed is a collection of essays by authors on why they chose a child free life. I'm at the stage where my parent vs non parent friends are evenly split but as more and more people peel off "my" side to join the other, I'm wondering. Debating. Indecisive. I thought I wanted kids and now I think I don't want them so where does that leave me, a woman of 35? I feel no need to parent, the only reason I can give myself is "maybe one day I'll regret it" and this book is just what I wanted because they don't regret it, these authors and with all of the media and society telling you that you MUST have a baby, there's so few of the other voices. Read it if you're in the same place I am or even if you're entertaining a toddler as you read this post just to see what you missed. #nowreading #bookstagram #150in2017 #mrmbookclub

Oof All Grown Up by Jami Attenberg is like a punch in the heart to millennials. So many insights that are so totally accurate that if I could I'd highlight the whole thing. #nowreading #bookstagram #150in2017 #mrmbookclub
