None the worse for wear after several hours of dancing at Goat Festival, although I haven't gotten out of bed to test my legs yet. Goat Festival was supposed to be this three day two venue immersive hipster festival but thanks to the Goa elections, they had to downsize. Felt quite bad for the festival organisers,what a waste. My thoughts on the festival?Magnetic Fields it was not, Marbella (the venue) overpriced and slightly douchey but the line up was great. Enjoyed headliner Gilles Peterson very much. #goanway #girlsjustliketohavefun

Last night, caught the Noronha's brothers just before they closed, watched loads of cars stop and ask for the way to "Anjuna" or "Baga." In the absence of a real mixer at the performance I was at before, I drank Black Jewel with water, and the world began to take on that personality too. I'm so sad. One of the sweetest cats in the world, our Goa fellow: Bipin, Rasam, Shitten, was killed in a hit and run yesterday. We buried him in the garden, near the balcao. My insides twist when I suddenly remember through moments of trying to forget. Reading Joyce Carol Oates Missing Mom, a novel based on her own mother and loss. This sentence is prescient, it jumped out at me two days ago. Of course we'll never know it's the last time so I'll say I love you frequently and often. #nowreading #150in2017 #mrmbookclub #bookstagram #allcatsgotoheaven

This morning we discovered the reason there was a faint smell when we showered was because there was a drowned squirrel in the tank. Much later, after practically scrubbing our mouths out with hand sanitiser (not really), I'm sitting at home, reading on the balcão, while the long laborious process of cleaning the tank happens. Hence the #latergram of Rock Pub, with Mr Rock (not his real name) and the nine year old cat who likes to hang out at the bar too. Delightful afternoon just begun at Goa's Ark, a lovely outdoor restaurant full of farm animals. (No pigs, but several chickens, some ducks, rabbits and guinea pigs. Horses also but they're out for the day.) A hen that resembles Donald Trump is hiding in the couch next to me, I have this fantastic book and also a mountain of work, but a massive lunch has made me nearly horizontal. We're leaving in two short weeks, back to cold old Delhi so trying to vary our daily routine a bit. Not so much an alarm clock since he was silent and didn't knock on the window but this morning's feathery visitor was a bird everyone knows. Never been this close to a peacock before so took a moment to admire his kohl lined eyes, his crest,his long neck. Surprisingly we can't hear them in the forest behind us at all, only occasional sightings to remind us he exists. #peacock #goanway #birdwatching

My least favourite thing about writing is editing. It takes me forever and it's always so hard to "kill your darlings" even though I'm practising doing it ruthlessly.
